Unit testing OpenRV4.0 on AlmaLinux 9.8 with an NVIDIA GPU (virtual machine), I have observed that RV uses the GPU for rendering, but video decoding appears to remain entirely CPU-based. All of the required codecs and FFMPEG 8 are installed.
This is reproducible even when GPU utilisation is otherwise clearly present during playback.
My Question: Shouldn't OpenRV use hardware video decoding (e.g. NVIDIA NVDEC) when its available,?
If hardware decoding is supported, what determines which decoder/path is selected and can it be set manually or via CLI?
Note:
I've compared and tested with SMPlayer with NVDEC decoder and it is able to use the GPU for decoding on the same VDA.
