I have heard about the checkm8 exploit for older iOS models, and I wonder if I could use it to recover data from an older model phone? Apple had updated it automatically, without my consent, and now after 10 attempts trying to remember my 6 digit, it has been locked out with years of all my important data, valuable photos and documents.
Now, the only reason I did not reset the device was because of my knowledge of such exploit and foolish hopes, and tools like Legacy iOS Kit, I remember frequently changing the 6 digit PIN for security reasons...
I tried using this kit to extract data using ramdisk SSH option with the device in DFU mode, no avail, then using "get version" option, it failed as well (even though somewhere along the way I observed the iBoot-7459.140.15 appearing, so my version probably updated to 15.8.3 before I F'd up punching passwords and locking myself out.
I ask if there's a way to bypass the iPhone Unavailable screen and try passwords that might be pertinent, or extract the data (especially photos and contacts) to my PC and then restore the device, or anything else I could do to recover the data? I used this tool on my Linux pc on an HDD with a USB A cable to the iPhone 7+ , and my distro is Arch (btw).
