My name is Hanjo.
Aviateur looks amazing! For my studies I am trying to make a application that also displays an OpenIPC video stream. (I am using a Eachine Sphere link, has a RTL8812AU receiver over USB)

I tried to take inspiration from your project but I feel a bit overwhelmed with how much there is to dig through (first time for me making such a big project).
So far I managed to get the raw data stream over USB from an RTL8812AU. I think I now need to implement the wfb-ng part but I feel like there is not a whole lot of documentation (or probably I just didn't find it yet).

How did you start to understand how to implement this?

@Hanjocl Hi Hanjo. I'm glad this project could be inspiring to you. You could start by picking up the code base directly, which is quite simple if you ignore the GUI part. Getting raw WiFi packets from an adapter, handling them by wfb-ng then sending the resulted RTP packets to FFmpeg/GStreamer for decoding, rendering the decoded frames on the screen. That's it, that's pretty much the whole process. You could also take inspiration from the Android ground station PixelPilot.

Honestly, haven't thought about integrating the code base directly. I'll give it try!

I also saw that you worked on fpv4Win and it uses QML! I madef my app already in QML so I am tempted to use fpv4Win.
But I do want to make it available on linux for a steamdeck hehe. Is there any particular problem you ran into with fpv4Win that is wouldn't want to work on Linux?

No, there's no problem making fpv4win run on Linux. This project makes use of my homemade GUI framework, which is why I don't use Qt.

Hello.
I am trying to navigate the OpenIPC landscape. I am trying to learn more about so many systems and also trying to learn linux to I can be part of the testing of some cutting edge tech.
I came across aviateur today and I started installing it on debian bookworm, then after a failed docker build I was about to install on trixie on a raspberry pi 5. I saw this on the main page, and I don't believe it was there before?

This repository is no longer maintained and is now unbuildable. Due to commercial requirements, a key dependency (submodule) has been moved to a private repository. As a result, this public version of the project can no longer be compiled or updated.

Anyways, I was curious what you think would be a good system to run to receive video feed from an open IPC setup? Is my raspberry pi 5 OK? I can't seem to find a radxa 3W that everyone seems to be using. I Bought a Wyvern Link but that won't be here for a while, and ultimately I wanted a good powerful ground station that will decode the video well. It seems there are a lot of compatibility requirements with ruby and openHD and with the current state of RAM and SBCs it is looking bleak.

Love your project even though I haven't gotten it working (yet)

This repo no longer works due to some sub-modules going private. However, as I tested with a raspberry pi 5 before, the current decoding workflow introduces too much latency so that it's basically unusable on a raspberry pi 5. If you want to explore more about OpenIPC receivers, you could check out PixelPilot.

Thank you so much for the reply. I think I will give OpenHD a try. The availability of good SBCs has made it difficult to find a good ground station platform (without spending too much)

Is there any path forward to bring this project back to life?
