[Bug] Prevent 423 from running endlessly

## **Describe the bug**

If for some reason there's a hiccup in the processing pipeline, the pollforprocessing function may just continue running and running

We should have some sort of timeout, perhaps something that can be configured by the user, to avoid it running indefinitely
