From 0fc52374811b3d73fd9fdc9e2d260eb9d20ff501 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Michele Dolfi Date: Wed, 7 Oct 2026 13:44:51 +0200 Subject: [PATCH 1/3] ci: add advisory AI triage for pull requests before CI approval Add the "AI PR Triage" workflow. It runs on pull_request_target and never checks out or runs PR code. - prepare (read-only token): finds possible duplicate PRs from shared issue references and overlapping diff hunks, applies deterministic CI-safety rules for sensitive paths, and summarizes groundtruth changes (formatting, coordinates, text, tables, structure). - analyze (no GitHub write access): runs Bob Shell in a read-only custom mode on the collected data and validates its JSON answer. - publish (no LLM): applies an allowlist of ai:* labels and updates one sticky comment. Deterministic findings always override a "safe" model verdict. It never checks out or runs PR +code. It reads the PR through the GitHub API, applies deterministic rules, and +asks Bob Shell in a read-only mode for an advisory assessment. It updates one +sticky comment and sets these labels: + +- `ai:ci-safe`: no deterministic rule matched and the model found no concern. +- `ai:ci-needs-care`: a sensitive path changed (CI, build, dependency, or agent + instruction files), or the model reported a concern. Read the comment before + you approve CI. +- `ai:possible-duplicate`: the model rated an open or earlier PR as a duplicate. + Candidates come from shared issue references and overlapping diff hunks. + +The comment also summarizes changed reference data in `tests/data/**/groundtruth/`. +It separates formatting-only and coordinate-only changes from text, table, and +structure changes. + +The labels are advisory. They never add `tests:full` and never approve a workflow +run. A new push removes them and runs the triage again. + +The workflow is never a blocking check. Every step uses `continue-on-error`, so +an error (for example a missing secret, an API outage, or an invalid model +answer) shows as a warning annotation on the run, and the PR check stays green. +If a step fails, the comment shows only the parts that finished. + +The workflow needs the `BOB_API_KEY` secret (an API key with the Inference +scope). Optional repository variables: `BOB_TEAM_ID` (for `general` keys) and +`BOB_TRIAGE_MAX_COST` (default `2`). Without the secret, the comment shows only +the deterministic checks. diff --git a/.github/actions/run-bobshell/action.yml b/.github/actions/run-bobshell/action.yml new file mode 100644 index 0000000000..a613901d4a --- /dev/null +++ b/.github/actions/run-bobshell/action.yml @@ -0,0 +1,94 @@ +name: Run Bob Shell (read-only) +description: >- + Install a pinned Bob Shell and run one headless task in a read-only custom + mode from .github/ai-triage/custom_modes.yaml. `bob run` pre-approves every + tool of the mode, so the mode and the disabled tool groups must stay + read-only. + +inputs: + api-key: + description: Bob API key with the Inference scope. + required: true + team-id: + description: Team ID, only for API keys of type 'general'. + required: false + default: "" + mode: + description: Custom mode slug. + required: true + prompt-file: + description: Prompt file from the trusted base checkout. + required: true + max-turns: + description: Maximum agent turns. + required: true + max-cost: + description: Maximum cost of the task. + required: true + output: + description: Path of the JSON output file. + required: true + version: + description: Bob Shell version. + required: false + default: "2.0.5" + sha256: + description: SHA-256 of the Bob Shell tarball for this version. + required: false + default: "eff232eb1b69f34f984ddd295e6960470058ca922b1c751879c5a8d06199f566" + +runs: + using: composite + steps: + - uses: actions/setup-node@820762786026740c76f36085b0efc47a31fe5020 # v7.0.0 + with: + node-version: "22" + + - name: Install Bob Shell + shell: bash + env: + BOBSHELL_VERSION: ${{ inputs.version }} + BOBSHELL_SHA256: ${{ inputs.sha256 }} + run: | + tarball="${RUNNER_TEMP}/bobshell.tgz" + curl -fsSL -o "${tarball}" \ + "https://s3.us-south.cloud-object-storage.appdomain.cloud/bob-shell/bobshell-${BOBSHELL_VERSION}.tgz" + echo "${BOBSHELL_SHA256} ${tarball}" | sha256sum --check --strict + npm install --global --ignore-scripts --registry=https://registry.npmjs.org/ "${tarball}" + bob --version + + - name: Run Bob Shell + shell: bash + env: + BOB_API_KEY: ${{ inputs.api-key }} + BOB_TEAM_ID: ${{ inputs.team-id }} + BOB_MODE: ${{ inputs.mode }} + BOB_PROMPT_FILE: ${{ inputs.prompt-file }} + BOB_MAX_TURNS: ${{ inputs.max-turns }} + BOB_MAX_COST: ${{ inputs.max-cost }} + BOB_OUTPUT: ${{ inputs.output }} + run: | + if [ -z "${BOB_API_KEY}" ]; then + echo "::warning::BOB_API_KEY is not set.
