none of the current layouts supports the built in gamepad. the l2 and r2 tirggers along with both joy sticks do not register. tested on kernel 7.1 stable latest with the later oxp drivers submitted in mailing list #debian

if you can help me out it would mean the world. i spent alot this and i have my own distro based on vannila debian and i installed the lated kernel 7.1.1 which has oxp already in there. i really want to use my joy sticks

This is weird, it should only include the current boot. Perhaps debian weirdness. journalctl -b 0 maybe?

The hhd service is not visible, nor are the kernel logs. this is weird. is there an oxp-hid driver running? Can you disable it? You are not using inputplumber, correct?

I've gotta be honest, I am completely stumped on this one! Usually, I'd just swap over to Cachy since I know it so well, but I'm currently running a custom, pure Debian-based system I built tailored for my own local AI software and projects.

Here’s where it gets weird: HHD is up and running—it handles my fans, TDP, and lets me switch controller profiles just fine. But none of the profiles seem to map right. When I check the KDE controller settings, it shows two buttons are constantly engaging even when I'm not touching anything!

I feel like I've tried absolutely everything at this point—hid-oxp is there, HHD is there, ACPI is good... I'm honestly so lost and a bit heartbroken after putting this much work into it. I’m almost at the point of just throwing in the towel and buying an external gamepad. Anyone have any last-ditch ideas before I go that route?

when i switch other profiles other buttons show engaged . so its for sure mapping. but incorrectly

try hhd.contrib evdev hhd.contrib hidraw with and without sudo.

No, hhd is not tested with hid-oxp, you should remove it. I do not know what it does and it probably does not do what it should

This sounds like your controller configuration in the system might be a bit screwy or you might be missing evdev rules.

hhd.contrib will show what the virtual controller nodes are outputing. If its wrong, maybe its a kernel driver between hhd and the device

Also, systemd is required for certain mapping swaps in hhd, so if you are trying something different, you might be missing mappings
