The methods underlying the MOBIUS program — including answer entitlement (MMV) and reflective questioning (RQA), which MOBIUS INFINITY / ERO composes — are the subject of patent applications filed by MOBIUS LLC (7 filings). The methods are patent pending.
This software is released under AGPL-3.0-or-later (see LICENSE). AGPL-3.0
section 11 includes an express patent grant from contributors: by releasing
this implementation under the AGPL, MOBIUS LLC grants users a patent license to
use this released implementation under and for the duration of AGPL
compliance, as provided by section 11.
This grant is intentional and is scoped to AGPL-compliant use. It is not:
- a patent license for non-AGPL / proprietary use of the patented methods
(closed-source integration, proprietary redistribution, private SaaS that
does not provide required source access, etc. — see
LICENSE_NOTICE.md§3 for the separate written commercial-license requirement); - a waiver, dedication to the public domain, or grant of rights to re-implement the patented methods outside the terms of the AGPL;
- a grant of any MOBIUS LLC trademark, branding, certification, or endorsement.
