I'm afraid my very last commit to fix gcc warnings broke visual c++ dragging of text and files. Working on a fix...

Apologies. I did not retest the very last commit as thoroughly as the compiler errors seemed straightforward but apparently gcc and vc++ preprocessors differ in their order of token concatenation and stringification.

Verified demos with VS 2022 using win/makefile.vc against 8.6.10 and 9.0.0. Note I don't use tkdnd so I do not have a specific application test. The original report was also based on demos.

Context: I maintain Tkinterdnd2 which loads the TkDND binaries to enable drag-and-drop for Tkinter.

Regarding the Tcl 9 port. We found that Fedora 44 builds python binaries anticipating Tcl 9; this caused incompatibility with the TkDND 2.9.5 binaries loaded by TkinterDnD2. I created a copy of TkDND and was able to complete the port for Tcl 9: https://github.com/Squiblydoo/tkdnd (NOTE: my repo is not recognized as fork, this is because I messed something up and needed to do it this way temporarily.)

In my copy I've also added GitHub actions that build and test the binaries for all OS and architectures. The binaries are compatible for both Tcl 8 and Tcl 9. I've used the repository to build TkDND 2.10.0. From my tests they seem to be working as expected.

Due to my limited knowledge of Tcl, I was required to use Anthropic's Claude to implement the changes in Tcl 9. Overall, they are fairly minor.

2.10.0 is a straightforward modification to ensure that Tcl 9 works correctly: https://github.com/Squiblydoo/tkdnd/pull/1/changes . If you would like me to make a PR with these core changes, please let me know.

I've also made 2.10.1: for this version, Claude has reviewed all open issues for TkDND and determining which issues still exist and how they can be fixed. I reviewed these fixes and tested 4/8 of them with automation. The remaining fixes seem lower risk and are harder to reproduce, but should be fixed as well: https://github.com/Squiblydoo/tkdnd/pull/2/changes ; reviewing the changes, I'm confident that they should work as expected.
Some of the bugs are rare, including issue 6 from 2015, but they seem to be handled now.
