Despite all other variables in my closed 1D simulation being at steady state, total alkalinity is continuing to decrease. This has been investigated and is due to there being no impact on alkalinty of benthic-pelagic coupling of nutrients. Nitrate, phosphate and ammonium added/lost from the benthos to the pelagic should have an impact on alkalinity but this has not been coded
