LinkUnbound Individual Contributor License Agreement, version 1.1.
Thank you for contributing to LinkUnbound. This agreement exists for one reason: LinkUnbound is released under the GPL-3.0 and offered under separate commercial terms to organisations that cannot comply with the GPL. Offering those commercial terms requires the right to license the whole codebase that way — including your contribution. Without this agreement from every contributor, that right does not exist and the dual model collapses.
You keep the copyright on everything you write. This is a licence you grant, not a transfer of ownership.
By submitting a Pull Request, patch, or any other Contribution to this project, you agree to the terms below.
"You" means the individual who submits a Contribution, or the legal entity authorising it. For a legal entity, "You" includes any entity that controls, is controlled by, or is under common control with that entity.
"Contribution" means any original work of authorship, including any modification to or addition to an existing work, that You intentionally submit to this project for inclusion in it. "Submit" means any form of electronic, verbal, or written communication sent to the project or its maintainers, including but not limited to Pull Requests, issues, patches, and code suggestions made during review — excluding any communication you conspicuously mark "Not a Contribution". This agreement covers every Contribution You submit after signing and every one You submitted before. Code reaches a project by more routes than a Pull Request, and a signature that only looked forward would leave those earlier routes unaccounted for.
"Project Owner" means Mario Hidalgo G. (rgdevment), the copyright holder and maintainer of LinkUnbound.
You grant the Project Owner, and to recipients of software distributed by the Project Owner, a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, irrevocable copyright licence to reproduce, prepare derivative works of, publicly display, publicly perform, sublicense, and distribute Your Contribution and such derivative works.
Including under licences other than the GPL-3.0. This is the clause that makes commercial licensing possible; it is stated explicitly so nobody has to infer it from the word "sublicense". It also covers distributing signed binaries through application stores, whose terms of service are not compatible with the licence this project uses. The source stays available either way; what needs separate terms is the compiled build that a store hands to its users.
Moral rights. To the fullest extent permitted by the law that applies to You, You waive — and agree not to assert — any moral rights in Your Contribution against the Project Owner or against anyone receiving software from the Project Owner, insofar as those rights would prevent the uses granted above. Where such rights cannot be waived, You agree not to enforce them in a way that blocks those uses. This does not touch attribution: section 6 commits the Project Owner to preserving Your authorship.
You grant the Project Owner, and to recipients of software distributed by the Project Owner, a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, irrevocable patent licence to make, have made, use, offer to sell, sell, import, and otherwise transfer the work. This licence applies only to those patent claims You can license that are necessarily infringed by Your Contribution alone or by its combination with the project.
If any entity brings patent litigation alleging that the project or a Contribution within it constitutes patent infringement, any patent licences granted under this agreement to that entity terminate as of the date the litigation is filed.
- The Contribution is Your original creation, or You have the right to submit it under this agreement.
- You are legally entitled to grant the licences above. If your employer has rights to work you create, you have either obtained permission to submit the Contribution on their behalf, or your employer has waived those rights.
- Your Contribution does not knowingly include third-party code under terms incompatible with this agreement. Where it includes third-party material you did not write, you identify it and its licence.
- Using a generative tool changes none of the above. Assistants are welcome — this project is built with them — but they do not know where their output came from, and you are the one representing that it can be licensed. If a tool reproduced someone else's code, it is still third-party material and the point above applies to it.
You provide the Contribution as is, without warranties or conditions of any kind, express or implied — including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. You are not expected to provide support for your Contribution, though you may do so if you choose.
These are the counterweights to the rights you grant, and they bind the Project Owner:
- The community edition of LinkUnbound stays available under the GPL-3.0.
- Your Contribution is never removed from the open source project in order to make it exclusive to a commercial edition.
- Your authorship is preserved. Git history is not rewritten to erase it.
- No release already published under the GPL-3.0 is ever retroactively withdrawn. A licence change can only ever apply going forward.
If any representation in section 4 stops being accurate — for example, you discover your employer does hold rights to something you submitted — tell the Project Owner at github@apirest.cl.
Governing law. This agreement is governed by the laws of Chile, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Nothing here limits any right You hold under mandatory law where You live.
If a clause fails. If any provision is held unenforceable, the rest stays in force and that provision is read as narrowly as needed to make it valid.
This is the whole agreement between You and the Project Owner about Your Contributions, and it replaces anything discussed before it. A later version of this document applies only to Contributions You submit after signing that version.
No obligation to merge. Signing does not oblige the Project Owner to accept, merge, or keep any Contribution.
Open your Pull Request. A bot posts a one-time request; reply on that Pull Request with exactly:

You sign once. Every later Pull Request from the same GitHub account is covered automatically.
That is a legitimate choice, and it costs you nothing else in this project. You can still use LinkUnbound, report bugs, request features, help with translations feedback, discuss design, and fork the project under the GPL-3.0. Only merging code into this repository requires the agreement.
