Citus support

Hello!

Is there any official Citus support?

I saw in the document that the replica as a databae is available and I have to set up the primary host too, but I'm not sure this thing suits well for Citus.

There's no official Citus support — Citus isn't mentioned anywhere in the codebase, docs, or past discussions. Sequin relies heavily on standard PostgreSQL logical replication primitives, which is where Citus compatibility gets tricky:

• Logical replication slots created via pg_create_logical_replication_slot with the pgoutput plugin [1]
• Publications for table-level change filtering, with settings like publish_via_partition_root = true [2]
• WAL-level config: wal_level = 'logical', max_replication_slots > 0, and max_wal_senders [3]
• Replica identity checks on source tables [4]

The main concern is that Citus has limitations around logical replication on distributed tables — replication tends to operate at the shard level rather than the logical table level, and publications may not behave the same way across distributed tables. It's unclear how Sequin would interact with the coordinator vs. worker node topology.

If you wanted to experiment, you could try pointing Sequin at the Citus coordinator node and see how the setup checks go, but I'd recommend doing that in a non-production environment first. The Sequin team would be best positioned to comment on whether Citus support is something they'd consider adding.
