Implement graceful loss of order near internal boundaries. This requires that we have multiple alternative stencils for the same expression with different sizes: high-order stencils with large extents may be used for internal cells, whilst cells close to (internal) boundaries will gradually loose order (and hence reduce extent) the closer to the boundary we get.
