I am pleased to announce AppleCommander 15.0!

AppleCommander provides:

• Command-line tools: ac and acx.
• GUI Applications for: Windows (Intel 64-bit), Mac OS X (Intel/ARM 64-bit), Linux (Intel/ARM 64-bit).
• Shared libraries published to Maven Central.

New Features

• 'acx search' to look across all images for files. Filters allow glob names, and tests of size, file type, and aux type/address.

Bug Fixes

• Fixed bug in acx write in that it used the read-only helper. (And, confusingly, did nothing.)
• If the ShrinkItArchive API was not used correctly, reading compressed data could read -past- the end of data, resulting in failures. The ShrinkIt libraries were adjusted to prevent this from happening. This should improve ShrinkIt support. (See library updates.)

New GUI - AppleCommanderFX - BETA!

• Started building out a new JavaFX-based GUI application
• Utilized the new FileStore API.
• Supports both disk images and archives
• Direct support currently: GameDOS disks, Shrinkit archives, Zip archives.
• Indirect support: all the existing disk images
• Export/import via drag and drop. Can drag to native file system or between windows.
• Supports raw files, AppleSingle (preserves attributes), or Nulib2 ProDOS Attribute Preservation format.
• Disk usage, depending on the disk image, can be colorized (boot sector, system space, files, directories, etc). For HDD sized images, a pie chart is used instead of blocks.
• Settings dialog to choose theme (most with dark and light modes), export options, and import options.
• A prototype create disk wizard allows creation of GameDOS (more to come as they are implemented or made writable).
• Supports Save and Save As.

API

• Started build of FileStore
• Added adapter to map FormattedDisk to FileStore while they get remapped.
• All CLI tools and the original AppleCommander GUI (SWT) continue to use the older FormattedDisk structures.
• All APIs have now been modularized (JPMS).

Future (multiple releases)

• More archives.
• Migrate disk images.
• File viewer in AppleCommanderFX.
