📝 WalkthroughWalkthroughSQL storage methods now use checked connection acquisition. Strict Bukkit MySQL reads and deletes propagate database failures, while legacy methods retain fallback behavior. 61-61: 🗄️ Data Integrity & IntegrationThe runtime compatibility condition cannot be decided from the inspected repository.
AdvancedCoredepends oncom.bencodez:simpleapi:1.0.2-SNAPSHOT, and the project documentation requires rebuilding AdvancedCore and shaded VotingPlugin consumers against SimpleAPI containing merged PR#106. The published SimpleAPI artifact and shaded consumer contents were not inspected, so the presence ofgetConnectionChecked()at runtime remains unknown.AdvancedCore/src/test/java/com/bencodez/advancedcore/core/user/storage/sql/MysqlBackendReviewRegressionTest.java (1)

Propagate checked acquisition failures from Bukkit reads
When the pool is exhausted, getConnectionChecked() now throws SQLException, but the existing catch below logs it and returns a schema-only Column list. The production BukkitSqlUserBackend.read() delegates to getExact(), and SharedUserDataRuntime.populateInternal() publishes the resulting nonempty map as a valid snapshot, so callers observe null/default values while the original timeout is lost; use a throwing read path for the shared backend instead.

Abort deletion when checked acquisition fails
If connection acquisition times out before the DELETE, the new checked call throws an SQLException that deletePlayer() catches, after which it still mutates the UUID/name caches and returns normally. BukkitSqlUserBackend.delete() therefore reports success to SharedUserDataRuntime.remove(), which removes the user cache even though the database row remains and can reappear on a later load; propagate the acquisition failure before changing cache state.

With an exhausted SQL pool,
MysqlUserBackend.user()previously supplied a null connection to shared user storage. Reads then threwNullPointerException, losing the original SQL timeout. Use SimpleAPI's additive checked acquisition for the shared provider, adjacent backend/schema operations, and Bukkit user-table SQL paths. Existing SQL catches/wrappers retain the original cause. Legacy SimpleAPIgetConnection()remains nullable and unchanged. The Bukkit shared backend now uses strict read/delete paths: acquisition or query failure preserves the SQL cause, aborts snapshot publication and keeps user caches intact. The legacy read fallback is unchanged; a failed legacy delete also keeps identity caches.
The Bukkit PostgreSQL UUID lookup now propagates acquisition/query failures as
IllegalStateExceptionwith the original SQL cause instead of reporting an uncached UUID as absent. Debug logging remains. Malformed input and cached identities avoid acquisition; successful absent/present lookups and retry after a timeout remain supported.Regression coverage exercises the real backend entry point for MySQL, MariaDB and PostgreSQL and the real PostgreSQL lookup through the Bukkit storage facade. It verifies cause preservation, recovery, resource cleanup, backend ownership, and no transaction callback before acquisition. The new lookup regressions fail against the pre-fix code.
