fix(points): reconcile shared MySQL point placeholder publication - #1739
Shared-MySQL point mutations could repair the user-data snapshot while leaving a separately rendered PlaceholderAPI balance cached. A rejected deduction could therefore continue exposing the old balance to a menu checking %votingplugin_points%.
This change invalidates affected point results and coordinates snapshot recovery with mutation outcomes, outstanding refills and callback delivery. Known rejections and proven unstarted writes remain recoverable; unresolved execution or commit outcomes cannot republish a balance through an unrelated refill. Coverage includes direct and bulk commands, replay-aware additions, transfers/refunds and VoteShop reservation/compensation paths. Snapshot-only point reads retain numeric-string/per-server compatibility and avoid storage work on platform threads.
Validation on the exact candidate:
337 focused tests passed, retaining the previous 322 cases.
Full clean Maven package: 3,051 tests passed, one optional diagnostic skipped, no failures or errors.
Five packaged-artifact checks passed; resolved inputs were AdvancedCore 3.8.2-SNAPSHOT build 138 and SimpleAPI 1.0.2-SNAPSHOT build 44.
Independent focused concurrency, persistence, cache-ordering and lifecycle review: No findings.
The earlier published head b34229c passed hosted Maven run 41158506110 and CodeQL. Hosted checks for the latest follow-up run separately.
The review follow-up distinguishes cold snapshots from complete published rows: absent point fields retain the zero default, while malformed or unsupported values stay unavailable without repeated reloads. Direct and common placeholder workers share recovery admission; ordinary non-point warming and late-discovered identifiers retain their continuation. Genuine transaction uncertainty remains fail closed because current recovery results do not identify the original uncertain operation.
Tests use deterministic JDBC/journal fixtures and the production placeholder and public purchase/command paths. Live multi-server MySQL and Paper/Folia testing has not been performed.
The documented _nocache suffix bypasses the rendered placeholder cache; it does not force a fresh SQL transaction. An external menu that grants a reward before an asynchronous debit succeeds still has a reward-before-payment race. This fix does not make that integration transactional. Built-in VoteShop rewards remain conditional on an authoritative reservation.
Summary by CodeRabbit
Bug Fixes
MySQL point placeholders now avoid displaying stale or unverified balances during point changes. If a balance cannot be confirmed, the placeholder displays ... while recovery is attempted when possible.
Point changes and shop transactions now refresh displayed balances after processing, including when an operation fails or its outcome is unclear.
Documentation
Clarified that bypassing the placeholder cache does not guarantee a fresh balance or reserve points. Documented safer options for integrations that grant rewards, and advised against repeating debits when their outcome is uncertain.

The exact AdvancedCore 3.8.2-SNAPSHOT cache lifecycle remains undecidable. The public default-branch source schedules offline-cache cleanup hourly, but it is not proven to match the bound snapshot. The exact snapshot JAR could not be inspected because jar and javap are unavailable.
Point placeholders now read published MySQL snapshots through a generation fence. Point mutations, transfers, and VoteShop purchases coordinate placeholder publication with cache refresh. The RemovePoints command skips its cache call when storage is MySQL.
Point placeholders use generation-checked reads and published MySQL snapshots. Missing or malformed balances return "...". Recovery refreshes are deduplicated. Tests cover snapshot availability, stale publications, and lifecycle changes.

Additions, debits, and sets coordinate publication with cache refresh. Reconciliation verifies the point data in the published snapshot. Tests cover rejected scheduling and mutation outcomes. RemovePoints skips caching for MySQL storage.

Transfer reservations, settlements, and refunds coordinate source and recipient publication with refreshed caches. Journal failures before a point write are distinguished from failures after a write attempt. Tests cover confirmed, rejected, and indeterminate outcomes.
Purchase reservations and compensating refunds coordinate publication with cache refresh. Journal failures are classified by whether a point write was attempted. Tests cover reservation and refund outcomes. The integration documentation describes placeholder consistency limits and payment confirmation.

Add a terminal reconciliation path for PointPlaceholderFence.uncertain.
After settleTransfer calls drainCache(target), a RuntimeException reaches the finally block while known is still false. finishPointPublication therefore calls finishSharedPointDebit(..., false, ...) before settleWithConfirmation runs. This fences both affected users.
finish permanently preserves uncertain. A later successful mutation, verified refill, cache refresh, journal recovery, or PlaceHolders.reload() cannot clear it. The affected placeholders can therefore remain "..." for the lifetime of the current PlaceHolders instance. A plugin instance replacement can create a new fence, so “until JVM restart” is too absolute.
The reload fix is unsafe. Reload does not prove whether the original write committed. Clear uncertain only after journal recovery or another authoritative reconciliation establishes the terminal storage state. Then retain snapshotUnavailable and trigger a verified refill before publishing the refreshed balance.

Keeping genuine transaction uncertainty fail closed. Current recovery results identify a player and column, but do not tie terminal evidence to the original uncertain operation; cache draining can also perform writes before journal settlement. A reload, unrelated successful mutation or snapshot read therefore cannot safely clear this latch. Safe reopening needs a separately scoped, operation-bound reconciliation path. The integration guide now explicitly documents the resulting availability limitation; no generic clear or automatic mutation retry is introduced.

@BenCodez Understood. Keep genuine transaction uncertainty fail closed. A reload, unrelated mutation, or snapshot read does not establish the original operation’s outcome.
The availability limitation remains, but a generic clear or automatic mutation retry would be unsafe. Operation-bound reconciliation belongs in a separate follow-up. This is an accepted limitation, not a completed fix for this finding.
Would you like me to open a follow-up issue for that reconciliation path?
