Every tool returns standard MCP content blocks. The tables below are checked
against the server's tool registry by tests/protocols/readme_tools_test.rs.
| Tool | Description |
|---|---|
snapshot_url |
Load a page (optionally running its JS) and extract links, images, metadata, custom selectors, structured data and readable markdown, with output-size limits |

Action tools (browser_click_element, browser_type_text, browser_fill,
browser_select_option, browser_check, browser_press_key, browser_hover,
browser_scroll, browser_wait, browser_wait_for_element) accept a ref from browser_snapshot instead of a
CSS selector. Refs stay valid until the page content changes.
Tools that act on an existing page return an error for an unknown session_id
instead of silently creating a blank session; "default" always exists.
| Tool | Description |
|---|---|
cdp_runtime_evaluate |
Evaluate JavaScript in a session's page (default session "default") |
The other CDP tools (cdp_dom_*, cdp_network_*, cdp_console_get_messages,
cdp_page_screenshot, cdp_page_reload) are currently backed by mock data and
are only listed with THALORA_ENABLE_CDP_EXPERIMENTAL=true.

browser_fill |
Fill one field by selector; submit=true also submits its form |
browser_eval |
Alias for cdp_runtime_evaluate |
browser_extract |
Alias for snapshot_url |
browser_search |
web_search with sensible defaults |

Thalora's rendering pipeline resolves CSS in Rust and builds a native Avalonia control tree in C#. Some CSS features are parsed and computed but not yet rendered:
| Category | Unsupported Properties |
|---|---|
| Visual effects | transform, filter, backdrop-filter, box-shadow, text-shadow, clip-path, mask, mix-blend-mode |
| Generated content | ::before / ::after pseudo-elements, content, counter-reset, counter-increment |
| Animation | animation, transition, will-change |
| Layout (partial) | float, clear, overflow-x/y, grid-auto-*, grid-column, grid-row |
| Typography | vertical-align, text-overflow, word-break, writing-mode |
Pages that rely heavily on these features (e.g. CSS-based icons via ::before/::after, CSS animations, or transform-based layouts) may render differently than in a full browser.
- JavaScript execution uses the Boa engine โ ES2017โ2025 compatible but not V8/SpiderMonkey
- Complex SPA hydration (React, Vue, Astro) may partially execute;
outerHTMLcapture falls back to server HTML when JS output is unavailable eval(),Function(),document.write(), and WebAssembly are blocked by the JS security sandbox
- SVG images are rasterized via Svg.Skia โ complex SVGs with filters or animations may not render correctly
- Some CDN/media hosts block image requests regardless of User-Agent
- JavaScript Sandboxing: 5-second timeouts, dangerous patterns blocked
- Encrypted Storage: AI memory credentials encrypted with AES-256-GCM (Argon2id key derivation from
THALORA_MASTER_PASSWORD) - Network Security: TLS-only requests, header validation
- Memory Protection: Controlled resource allocation
- Memory Usage: ~40MB runtime (full features), ~10MB minimal
- JavaScript Speed: 100-500ms execution per context
- Network: HTTP/2 with connection pooling and keep-alive
- Storage: Efficient JSON with incremental updates
- User Agent:
Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_15_7) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/131.0.0.0 Safari/537.36 - Headers: Complete Chrome 131 header set with Sec-Ch-Ua
- APIs: 50+ modern web APIs implemented
- Fingerprinting: WebGL vendor/renderer, hardware info, screen metrics
- Knowledge Persistence: Store findings across context limits
- Credential Management: Secure API key storage
- Multi-session Projects: Long-term research continuity
- Real Web Interaction: Handle modern JavaScript sites
- Browser Debugging: Full CDP integration
- Performance Analysis: Real timing metrics
- Cross-platform Testing: Consistent Rust environment
- API Testing: Real network requests and responses
