Cave Reverb

A massive algorithmic reverb plugin with quad-tank architecture and octave shimmer, built with JUCE.

Features

Reverb Engine

  • Quad-Tank Design - Four cross-feeding delay tanks based on the Dattorro/Griesinger topology
  • 8-Stage Input Diffusion - Dense diffusion network with prime-number delays for smooth smearing
  • Octave Shimmer - Pitch-shifted (+12 semitones) signal blended into the feedback path
  • Modulated Tanks - LFO bank (0.3–0.6 Hz) for evolving, organic texture

Main Controls

  • Size - Room size scaling all tank delays (small room to massive hall)
  • Decay - Reverb tail length from tight to near-infinite
  • Damping - High-frequency absorption simulating air and surface absorption
  • Mix - Dry/wet balance
  • Shimmer - Octave-up shimmer intensity in the reverb tail

Advanced Controls

  • Diffusion - Input diffusion amount for smearing early reflections
  • Pre-Delay - Gap before reverb onset (0–500ms)
  • Width - Stereo spread using M/S processing
  • Modulation - Internal tank modulation depth
  • Freeze - Infinite hold for sustained pads and drones
