Phase 1 exploration for the Entangle site under site/, served at the /entangle/ base path. One page, seven switchable directions (desktop: "Direction" pill bottom-right; mobile: pill under the hero or tap the visual; keys 1–7, Q for quarter speed; ?d=<id>&speed=quarter&t=<s>). No build step, self-hosted Inter, inline Lucide, no third-party requests. Not for merge: no Pages, no deploy workflow; the owner picks a direction first.

Round 1 (diagrammatic): singlet, spacelike, swap, bound.
Round 2 (evocative, generative canvas, after owner feedback): quadrant (Glasgow 2019 Bell image: photon A's ring pattern shifts per quadrant with photon B's filter), crossing (type-II SPDC: two rings, pairs born at the crossings), collapse (two independent probability clouds, simultaneous complementary collapse, nothing passes between them). Rendered from scratch, nothing traced.

Implementation notes (site/directions.js):

• PhotonField(S, intensity, ramp): low-res count buffer filled by rejection sampling against an intensity function, decayed per frame, mapped through a 3-stop ramp and drawImaged up. Same mechanism as the real experiments (single detections accumulating), gives shot-noise grain for free.
• AnimCollapse stamps pre-rendered dot sprites; 5k arc() fills ran at 14 fps under 4× CPU throttle at DPR 3, sprites at 34 fps. DPR capped at 2, rAF pauses offscreen/hidden, prefers-reduced-motion draws a seeded still (pixel-identical across time).
• Marks are generated by scripts/brand/directions.py (stdlib only) into site/assets/logo/.

Round-1 defects fixed on this branch: "How it works" is a numbered sequence not a 3-column grid; install pre wraps instead of clipping; captions wrap on phones; Spacelike paints a clearing behind the copy so cone lines never cross the headline; picker card/sheet capped to the viewport; hero figure is only a button at sheet widths; Bound legend plate; footer clearance for the pill.

Fixed in c9a4b88: Escape is handled before the input guard, and the guard now only skips text-entry controls (radios/checkboxes still get Escape, 1–7 and Q). Verified with the radio focused at 1440×900 and 390×844.

Fixed in 04d5d51: the desktop card is capped at calc(100vh - 90px) and the mobile sheet at calc(100svh - 24px), both with overflow-y: auto, so the top options and the close button stay reachable on short viewports (checked at 390×500: sheet scrolls, header visible).

Fixed in 04d5d51: role="button", tabindex and the label are only applied while the (max-width: 900px) media query matches (where tapping the figure opens the sheet) and removed on desktop, where the figure is plain.

• 6476bcd: on first load the page now opens on quadrant (default in directions.js, plus html[data-direction]). A returning visitor still gets their last pick, and ?d=<id> overrides both.

• Don't merge, and don't start phase 2, until the direction is decided.
