AI Agent being blocked from project editing due to unauthorized API key and schema validation errors

Current Behavior

I am still getting these strange unauthorized errors when trying to use the AI agent in my project. I have copied and pasted the API key to the AI agent and tried to use the agent to fix this itself but it's still not working, I am getting blocked saying that there is no editor access to my project, but I'm within my own project, how can this be happening? I am also getting errors that are blocking a push from going through even though the editor does not show these errors. @ayush or @chris can you help? Screenshot attached. Project ID is piershare-2pa26x.

The agent authorization error and the push validation failure may be separate problems. The access error looks FlutterFlow-side, but the validation output may identify a stale or invalid schema reference that can be repaired independently. If you share the exact validation errors, I can help trace what is blocking the push and determine whether that part can be unblocked without waiting for the agent-access issue.

Hi, thanks for getting back to me quickly. Here is the validation errors that I am getting, by trying to change a button color to purple. Of note is that I updated the SDK within the built in agent yesterday. Also note that there is currently another bug I reported with Chris from support in which a list of custom data types stored in supabase are not flowing back to the app through a Supabase RCP API call (Size_class_data_types custom data type, stored in supabase table as a list of JSON objects). This could be the issue but I feel there are other schema validation errors other than this one. That is going to be fixed next week and pushed to flutterflow in the next release, but the authorization error is still an outstanding issue I've had many times before this one. Here is the AI agent output:

The fast-lane MCP patch tool isn’t available in this workspace session, so I’m falling back to the supported brownfield edit flow for the same literal color change, then I’ll test and push it.

The workspace is now on the current SDK build. The edit itself tests cleanly, but the push is currently blocked by pre-existing generated SDK schema errors (SubspacesFields duplicate and related type errors), before the server step. I’m checking whether the local typed context is stale before deciding the safe repair.

I couldn’t apply the purple color remotely. The local edit and tests pass, but FlutterFlow rejects the push because:•The generated SDK snapshot is stale (29 days old).•The API key returns 403 Unauthorized.•The run also reports existing SubspacesFields schema/type errors.Once the API key has editor access to piershare-2pa26x, I can refresh the context and push the button color change.

Hi Jonathan,

I should clarify that I don’t work for FlutterFlow. I came across your issue independently. I work with founders who have apps that have become stuck between platform problems, generated code errors and project-specific configuration issues.

The output you shared is useful because it suggests that this may not be one problem. I would treat the 403 authorization failure and the SubspacesFields validation errors as separate blockers until one is proven to be causing the other.

The upcoming FlutterFlow fix may resolve the Supabase custom data type problem you reported to Chris, but I would not assume it will also resolve the repeated 403. Before waiting for the release, I would confirm that the API key is connected to the correct piershare-2pa26x project and still has the required access.

One thing would help narrow this down. When you encountered the 403 on previous occasions, did refreshing or replacing the API key restore access temporarily, or did it remain blocked?

Thanks for the help. I've refreshed the API key on my flutterflow dashboard and pasted it into the agent, but I don't understand why the built in ai agent would not just read the api token automatically...

I agree, I would expect the built-in agent to handle that without you having to paste the token back into it.

The earlier output makes it look like the agent workspace and your FlutterFlow project access may be using separate permission layers, but FlutterFlow would need to confirm why it is designed that way.

Now that you have refreshed the key, try the same button colour change again. If the 403 has disappeared but the SubspacesFields errors remain, that confirms we are dealing with two separate problems. If the 403 still appears, the agent is not receiving or accepting the refreshed key correctly.

Let me know what output you get from that run.

Still doesn't work, I ran this in terminal:

and then got back from the agent:

That result is useful. It confirms the token is being stored and loaded correctly, so the terminal setup is not the problem. The 403 is happening when FlutterFlow tries to authorize that token against piershare-2pa26x.

Can you check whether the account that generated the refreshed token is listed as the owner or an editor on that exact project? If it is, this looks more like a FlutterFlow-side authorization problem than an access setting you have missed.

I would send Chris the project ID and the exact 403 result and ask them to confirm that the built-in agent is associating the token with the correct account, workspace and project.

I would leave the SDK and SubspacesFields errors separate for now. Updating the SDK again is unlikely to resolve a 403. Once the authorization works, running the same purple-button test should reveal whether the schema errors are still blocking the push.

Thank you again so much for the help! I have Ayush and Chris from Flutterflow looking at it, I am a sole founder who is the owner of my project and no one else works on it, so my account definitely has editor access for the project lol. I tend to agree with you its a flutterflow side authorization issue and there is some weird association issues happening on the backend.

Regarding the other validation errors, the core issue there was that I would not have an error in my project in the error checker but that the DSL would still classify errors and prevent pushes. Ayush was looking into that a while back but it's still coming up. WE'll see what happens on that but I agree its two different issues, I need to get authorization first to actually be able to push, and then we'll resolve the things preventing push later on.

That makes sense, and you’re right. Editor access clearly is not the issue here. I took the agent’s explanation too literally and should have treated it as one possibility to rule out rather than the likely cause.

With Ayush and Chris already investigating, it makes sense to let them trace the backend association problem.

What you said about the error checker and DSL is important. If authorization is restored but the DSL still rejects the push while the project error checker remains clear, that will confirm the second problem is still present.

Let me know what they find. I’m interested to see whether the authorization fix clears both problems or only the first one.
