fix(forget): clear consolidation_lineage edges + surface orientation descendants - #48
Conversation
…descendants The co-activation FK fix never learned about the lineage tables added in the re-architecture, so forget() blocked on any memory referenced in consolidation_lineage — same bug, new table, first hit by Nadi (longest user, most CSCC history). Clear those edges too. Also surfaces a memory's semantic_orientation descendants in the forget response, captured before the edge is deleted (it's otherwise lost forever) so Claude can review/reframe the affected orientation — inform, don't prescribe. Navigate logical layers of code changes, visualize relationships, and explore their blast radius. 📝 WalkthroughWalkthroughThe forget flow now retrieves orientation descendants before deleting a memory. It removes lineage references to the memory and includes descendant details in the success response when descendants were found. ChangesMemory Forget Lineage
Priority: ⬇️ Low Estimated code review effort: 2 (Simple) | ~10 minutes Change: Bug fix Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to Forgetting a memory now cleans up lineage links and lists affected orientation memories. Two narrow gaps remain. First, a concurrent orientation run can cause a forget to fail, or can remove a link without listing it. Second, a failed descendant lookup silently omits the review notice. Both are low-impact and simple to fix, so the change is mergeable with follow-up. 🚥 Pre-merge checks | ✅ 4 | ❌ 1❌ Failed checks (1 warning)

What
forgetwas throwing a foreign-key constraint error for the longest-standing users. Two changes:1. The crash fix.
forget()cleanedco_activationsbefore deleting a memory — that FK referencesmemories— but it never learned about theconsolidation_lineagetable added in the re-architecture, which carries enforced FKs on bothparent_idandsource_id→memories. So forgetting any memory that appeared in a lineage edge blocked on theDELETE FROM memories. It's the same bug the originalco_activationscleanup fixed, resurfaced through a new table. It showed up first for Nadi — our longest-running user — because she has the most CSCC history, so the most lineage edges, so the highest odds a forgotten memory happened to sit in one.forget()now clears lineage edges too.2. Surface orientation descendants — inform, don't prescribe. When the forgotten memory is the
sourceof asemantic_orientationedge (i.e. an orientation memory was distilled in part from it),tool_forgetnow captures those orientation parents before the edge is deleted and names them in the response. The edge is otherwise gone forever, and a piece of the identity layer would silently lose part of its recorded basis with no chance to review it. The forget still proceeds — non-blocking — but Claude is told, and can reframe the affected orientation or let it stand. Why it matters
A live store has 1,377
semantic_orientationedges. This was never a rare edge case: without the surface, every orientation-basis forget permanently erases the record of what an orientation node stands on, unseen. That irreversibility is why it ships now rather than "later."Verification
cargo check --target wasm32-unknown-unknown --lib).orientation_descendants' query verified read-only against live data — correct join, returns the real orientation parents for a given semantic source.semantic_orientationedges; ordinary forgets are unchanged.🤖 Generated with Claude Code
