Run Compass in Preview-Mode #804

Feature Description

Allow Compass to work in a minimal environment, without

  • Auth (and waitlist)
  • DB persistence
  • 3rd-party integrations (Gcal)

When running in preview mode, users could interact with the calendar as if they were already authenticated and had a DB setup.

Use Case

This'll make it easier for agents like CoPilot to make meaningful changes, by alleviating the need to authenticate or connect to a database in their sandboxed environment. Instead, they can still make standard changes to the calendar and validate that the DOM looks correct afterwards.

This'll also make it easier for early-contributors to learn how this app works, by eliminating the need to setup a DB before testing it out.

Additional Context

Some ideas on how to make this work:

  • Return 200 for all requests, along with faker data if needed
  • Use an in-memory DB to simulate persistence

This does not replace the need for integration and e2e tests. Instead, it's a convenience for devs and models during local development
