The current KaTeX 0.16.47 dependency and the copies pulled in by Markdown/Mermaid are affected by GHSA-238p-pmpm-9mq7. The advisory has no fixed 0.16.x release.
Move the direct dependency and all transitive renderers to the first safe release, 0.18.2. Strengthen the desktop smoke test to check inline and display math, MathML, loaded KaTeX styles, and Mermaid output. Repair two existing test harness failures: a Playwright global-name collision and Windows second-instance launches through cmd.exe.
Validation: frozen install, typecheck, 3 file tests, production build, and full development desktop smoke passed. Production dependency audit is now clean. GitHub Actions checks the packaged portable and installed Windows applications.
