The domain rks-gov.org was registered independently after observing that the similarity between the two domains could reasonably cause confusion for visitors.
Rather than using the domain to impersonate a government institution, this project uses it to clearly warn visitors and direct them to the legitimate government website.
Government websites are high-value targets for:
- Phishing and impersonation
- Domain confusion
- Social engineering
- Malicious redirects
- Collection of personal information
A visitor familiar with rks-gov.net could reasonably mistake rks-gov.org for another official government domain.
This project demonstrates how easily such confusion can occur when similar domains are left unregistered.
When someone visits rks-gov.org, the website:
- Clearly states that the domain is not an official government website.
- Provides the correct official government domain.
- Warns visitors against entering sensitive information on suspicious websites.
- Automatically redirects visitors to the official government website.
