What

New page Starting a Performance Scan (web-scanner-performance-scan) for the Performance platform in Web Scanner, which now sits next to Visual UI and Accessibility on the Web Scanner dashboard.

It covers:

  • The plan requirement, with the error a user sees when performance scans are not in their plan.
  • The four-step wizard: platform and name, device with its fixed test conditions (desktop and mobile table), runs per URL, adding URLs, advanced configurations, recurring or quick schedule.
  • The scan list, verdict tags and the row menu options, plus History.
  • The scan report: Summary, All URLs, Environment Details, and how a URL is rated (the worst of LCP, TBT and CLS, with thresholds).
  • The URL report: the seven metric gauges and their thresholds, Browser Timings, Speed Visualization, Audits (Insights, Diagnostics, Passed audits) and the Network log with HAR download.

Also adds the page to both Web Scanner sidebars, and lists Performance in Getting Started and Overview.

How it was checked

  • Ran a real performance scan end to end in production on 31 Oct 2026 (4 URLs, Desktop, Quick scan), and captured every screen from that run.
  • Rendered the page in a local Docusaurus preview: all 14 images load, tables and the info box render, and the sidebar entry appears.

Screenshots

14 retina captures, cropped to the UI, downscaled to 1600 px and palette-quantised. Every file is under 100 KB (largest 91 KB).

Note for reviewers

The wizard's Runs per URL text says URLs are re-tested when "slower or Poor". The page says a URL is re-tested when it is rated Poor, which is the documented behaviour; please flag it if regressed URLs should be mentioned too. The Environment details dialog in production also says "Poor or regressed URLs re-run to 3".

New page web-scanner-performance-scan covering the Performance platform
in Web Scanner: the four-step wizard (device and fixed test conditions,
URLs, advanced configurations, schedule), the plan requirement, the scan
list and row menu, History, the scan report (Summary, All URLs,
environment details, how a URL is rated) and the per-URL report
(metrics, browser timings, speed visualization, audits, network log).

Adds the page to both Web Scanner sidebars and lists Performance in
Getting Started and Overview. 14 screenshots, each under 100 KB.

Replace all 14 images with captures from a live production scan, and
correct the text the new run showed: Summary appears only after the scan
finishes, Stop recurring scan is shown for recurring scans only, and the
alt text and badge example match the new images.
