It would be very useful to have an optional mobile toolbar for the terminal with extra keys that are missing from Gboard.
Suggested keys:
ESC TAB CTRL ← ↓ ↑ →
Why
Claude Code Studio works well on mobile, and Gboard is much better than terminal-oriented keyboards for multilingual typing, autocorrect, responsiveness, and general text input.
However, when using the terminal in a mobile browser, Gboard does not provide easy access to important terminal keys such as:
- Tab for autocomplete
- Arrow keys for command history and cursor movement
- Escape
- Ctrl shortcuts
Switching to Hacker's Keyboard or another terminal keyboard works, but the typing experience is much worse for normal text.
Suggested implementation
An optional toolbar displayed above the mobile keyboard or at the bottom of the terminal, for example:
ESC | TAB | CTRL | ← | ↓ | ↑ | →
Ideally:
- Only shown on mobile/touch devices
- Can be enabled/disabled in settings
- Sends real terminal key events/sequences directly to the terminal
- Ctrl could work as a modifier for shortcuts such as
Ctrl+C, Ctrl+D, etc.
- Does not interfere with Gboard
This would make Claude Code Studio much more comfortable to use from Android phones and tablets while keeping Gboard as the main keyboard.
