fix: default moderation requests to omni-moderation-latest - #54
Conversation
The distributor and the relay both fill in a retired text-moderation model when a moderation request omits `model`. OpenAI retired those models on 27 October 2025, and the requests now fail upstream. Both defaults now use omni-moderation-latest, with pricing entries for it and its dated snapshot.

Add omni-moderation-latest to affected channel model lists.
When model is omitted, moderation requests use omni-moderation-latest. Existing channels configured only with text-moderation-stable can then be excluded from channel selection. Add the new model to those channel lists before rollout.
Document this channel-list migration separately. The existing token-limit note concerns token model allowlists, not channel model lists.

When a moderation request arrives without a
model, two places fill one in,and both use a retired model:
text-moderation-stable(
middleware/distributor.go, line 391)text-moderation-latestupstream(
relay/helper/valid_request.go, line 312)OpenAI retired the
text-moderation-*models on 27 October 2025 and namesomni-moderationas the replacement (deprecations). Sent to OpenAInow, both return:
This only affects clients that omit
model; a request that names its modelis unaffected.
This PR makes both defaults
omni-moderation-latest, so the request is routedand sent as the same model. Changing only one would leave them disagreeing.
Supporting changes
omni-moderationhas no entry inmodel_ratio.go, so I addedomni-moderation-latestand the datedomni-moderation-2024-09-26at0.1,matching the existing
text-moderationentries. If you price moderationdifferently, that value is easy to change. The old entries are kept so
existing channels keep their pricing.
docs/openapi/relay.jsonnow showsomni-moderation-latest.ModelListinrelay/channel/openai/constant.goalready includes bothomni-moderation-latestandomni-moderation-2024-09-26.One thing for existing deployments
A channel whose configured models list only the
text-moderationnames willnot match the new default. Those requests already fail today, so this does not
make them worse — but the channel needs
omni-moderation-latestadded to itsmodels to start working.
What I checked, and what I did not
Checked directly against the OpenAI API:
text-moderation-stableandtext-moderation-latestreturn the error above;omni-moderation-latestandomni-moderation-2024-09-26succeed. Checked that no test in the repositoryrefers to the old defaults, that
relay.jsonstill parses, and that the newmap entries line up with the existing columns.
I also built the three changed packages and ran
go vetandgo testonthem locally (
middleware,relay/helper,setting/ratio_setting); allpass, and the changed files are
gofmt-clean.Not checked: I have not tested against a live channel.
