Closing this, with what the evaluation found so it does not have to be repeated.

As it stands the bump does not typecheck. npm run typecheck against this
branch reports 636 errors, all of the same shape:

src/cli.ts(67,40): error TS2591: Cannot find name 'process'. Do you need to install type definitions for node? ...
src/mcp/server.ts(1112,3): error TS2552: Cannot find name 'console'. Did you mean 'Console'?

It is not a @types/node version problem: the identical 636 errors appear with
@types/node 22.20.4 and with 26.6.3. TypeScript 7 does not pick up the
@types/* packages this tsconfig.json relied on being included automatically.

It is adoptable. Adding "types": ["node"] to compilerOptions takes it to
0 errors.

But it is not a dev-dependency bump. typescript@7 is the native compiler,
shipped as platform-specific optional dependencies
(@typescript/typescript-darwin-arm64 and nineteen siblings), and tsc is not
only a gate here — it emits dist/*.js and dist/*.d.ts, which
installer/canonical-artifact.json pins and users install. Swapping the
compiler implementation changes the bytes that ship.

Two things follow, and neither belongs in a monthly pull request:

1. The canonical builder runs linux/amd64 in Docker, so the lockfile has to
   carry that platform's optional dependency metadata — the exact class of
   problem fa9909a ("preserve optional Linux dependency metadata") fixed for a
   different package.
2. The TS7 emit should be compared against the TS5 output before it becomes the
   artifact the install script hands out.

So this wants its own change: the tsconfig.json edit, a canonical rebuild
diffed against the current one, and a deliberate decision to ship Go-compiler
emit. typescript stays on ^5.7.0 until then. Dependabot will open a fresh
pull request when a newer 7.x lands, and this evaluation will still hold.
