Move the exact-repeat extension-join dedupe from the query-backed-only planner branch into apply_extension_overlay, keyed on a semantic edge identity (target, name, join type, cardinality, pair set), and mirror it in the schema-drift stage graph. Attach saved joins after the stage-model rename with an explicit key check, route the saved-joins lookup through one bundle helper, and shorten the models-guide addition to one sentence.
Replace design decision 5's saved-relation-only workaround with the one cross-model rule, and add the models/join-traversal delta for it.
DuckDB reports an ETag change across CDN edges as 'this likely means the remote file has changed'; classify it as a transient outage of the named remote host so the notebook skips instead of failing.

| ### Requirement: Saved relation relationships survive splicing | ||
|
|
||
| A stored query-backed model consumed as a relation SHALL retain that model's own declared joins, with keys resolved against its final-stage output columns. Those relationships SHALL remain available when the relation is a source, a join target or an extended source. Ordinary query-stage outputs SHALL remain flat and SHALL NOT inherit joins from their backing source. |

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win
Qualify explicit-splice parity for saved joins.
When a consumer traverses a saved relation's declared join, a literal splice of its stages lacks that join because ordinary stages remain flat. Lines 10–14 still require the same statement to return equal values and keys. Specify that this parity comparison adds an equivalent join to the explicit splice, or exempt saved-join traversal from that comparison. Otherwise, the two requirements prescribe different results for the joined-filter scenario in Lines 131–133.

@coderabbitai This spec file isn't part of this PR's change: openspec/specs/queries/query-backed-inline/spec.md is byte-identical to origin/main (git diff origin/main HEAD -- <file> is empty). It shows up in the diff only because main was merged into this branch while the PR's base (the DEV-2101 branch) doesn't have it yet. Any wording change belongs on main, not in DEV-2120's change.

Apply binary collation to SQL Server text functions, not Mode-B LIKE.
The specification requires LIKE to follow operand collation on every dialect except SQLite. Do not force binary collation on LIKE.
The scalar-function contract requires Postgres meanings across Tier-1 dialects. The matrix uses case-sensitive Python semantics for starts_with and ends_with, and contains is plain-text matching. SQL Server CHARINDEX and the inherited substring equality checks can use case- or accent-insensitive collations. Apply explicit binary collation to their string operands, but leave DATALENGTH(...) = 0 unchanged. Add regression cases that distinguish these semantics under SQL Server collations.

@coderabbitai Fixed in d71c9f8. starts_with / ends_with / contains / strpos / instr (and POSITION(p IN s)) are now case- and accent-sensitive whatever the collation, through a binary_text hook on their operands. MySQL uses CAST(x AS CHAR CHARACTER SET utf8mb4) COLLATE utf8mb4_bin, which keeps character positions for any column charset. SQL Server uses COLLATE Latin1_General_100_BIN2, with compound operands parenthesised. LIKE is unchanged, DATALENGTH(...) = 0 is unchanged, and the spec states the rule. Pinned by tests/test_dev2120_scalar_functions.py::TestTextMatchingIgnoresCollation.
…bind per occurrence - log(x) lowers to log10 on every dialect (bare LOG is ln on several engines); BigQuery has no LOG2 - trim/ltrim/rtrim pass ' ' on BigQuery and Trino, whose bare forms strip all whitespace - a variable in a regex/JSON text slot is quoted only at that occurrence - JSON path keys with control characters are rejected - date_trunc rejects date-part names as units - Postgres 16 JSON validity check reads its input as text - Sonar: complexity splits, union hints, test-fixture assert outside try
…owflake CI fails instead of skipping - BigQuery: now(), timestamp literals, TRY_CAST / RETURNING TIMESTAMP and the date functions produce DATETIME; ingestion keeps db_type for zoned TIMESTAMP columns (model and stage columns), and a comparison with one casts the other side to TIMESTAMP so the column stays bare (design D13) - starts_with / ends_with / contains / strpos / instr compare binary on MySQL and SQL Server - Snowflake integration: SLAYER_SNOWFLAKE_REQUIRED turns availability skips into failures; -rs in CI - live BigQuery case for a zoned TIMESTAMP and a DATETIME column; BigQuery golden SQL re-blessed

Gives Mode B one function library whose every function, operator and pattern language means the same thing on SQLite, Postgres, DuckDB, MySQL, ClickHouse, SQL Server, Trino, Snowflake and BigQuery — Postgres's value where databases disagree. Agents can now write the expressions they used to drop into query-time Mode-A SQL (regex, JSON pulls, string/math helpers, text-vs-number comparisons), and the comparison matrix's C9 "Portable expression library" becomes yes.

Each library function has an explicit lowering through a typed
SqlDialecthook per function family; the base holds the portable default and each dialect file overrides only its quirks. A registry-driven matrix (tests/test_dev2120_library_matrix.py) fails for any library function without cases, executes every case on SQLite and DuckDB, and emits it on all nine dialects; the integration suites run the same case table live. Coercion is an ordinaryTRY_CASTkey inserted by the checker, so it needs no new key kind.Spec, design and tasks:

C9 stays "yes" only once the Snowflake and BigQuery suites have actually executed.
