The audit comment below lists likely compile breaks and lost Prairie lines. CI must be green, including Prairie invariants; a failing test after a sync usually means Prairie code was lost, not that the test is stale.

New Features
Metadata can now identify the language of titles and descriptions, helping hosts prioritize requested-language text and use fallback text when needed.
Marker providers can exchange file details and marker confidence, provenance, and absence information, with compatibility safeguards for older hosts.
Documentation
Expanded guides explain language handling, marker-provider settings and data, compatibility behavior, and safe handling of file hashes.
…Silo-Server#49)
MetadataItem gains overview_language, and SeasonRecord and EpisodeRecord
gain title_language and overview_language. A plugin sets them when the
provider had no text in the requested language and it returned another
language's text, so the host can rank it below text in the requested
language and fill it from a fallback language. Empty keeps today's meaning.

…o the marker contract (Silo-Server#50)
* feat(markers): add file facts and absent segments to the marker contract
FetchMarkersRequest carries the file's OpenSubtitles hash and size and
whether the host understands absent segments. MarkerSegment gains absent.
SubmitMarkerRequest carries the file facts, the marker's source,
algorithm and confidence, and an absent flag.

* docs(markers): document the marker provider contract and its metadata keys
Adds docs/marker-provider.md with the capability metadata keys, the v0.29.0
file facts and absent segments, and the rule that a plugin must not send
the raw OpenSubtitles hash off the machine. Links it from the README and
notes the compatibility rules for older hosts.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* docs(markers): correct the file hash guidance and metadata key versioning
An unsalted SHA-256 of the OpenSubtitles hash is not service-specific, so
say what it hides and when a salt or HMAC is needed. The capability
metadata keys are read by the host, not the SDK, so drop the SDK version
labels from them.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* docs(markers): describe file_hash as a fingerprint that files can share
The OpenSubtitles hash covers only the size and the first and last 64 KiB,
so it does not prove two files hold the same bytes.

* test(markers): cover old payloads and absent segment bounds on decode

The plugin protocol adds language fields to metadata records and file, submission, and absence fields to marker-provider messages. Documentation describes field semantics and compatibility with older hosts. Protobuf tests verify field numbers and older-payload defaults.
Changes: Metadata Language Fields
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Add metadata language fields proto/prairie/plugin/v1/metadata_provider.proto, pkg/pluginproto/prairie/plugin/v1/metadata_provider_test.go, docs/compatibility.md
Metadata records add language fields, and tests verify their field numbers. The compatibility guide describes language values and host handling, along with marker-field compatibility rules.
Fetch and submit messages add file facts and submission metadata. Marker segments and submissions can indicate absence. Tests verify field numbers and older-payload defaults. Documentation describes provider manifests, field semantics, and compatibility.
Older metadata payloads are expected to remain compatible, but tests do not yet protect the new language fields’ default values. Add that coverage before merging or accept the bounded gap.

Full details: Title check
Explanation
The title "Sync upstream Silo-Server/silo-plugin-sdk (2 commits)" names the action and the source, which matches the changeset. The PR merges 2 upstream commits that add metadata language fields and marker contract changes (file facts, absent segments, source/confidence). The title does not name any of these changes, so it is only partially related to the main change. It is also a sync operation label rather than a description of the change itself. This is a partial match, so the check passes.

Cover legacy decoding for all new language fields.
The existing old-payload test does not assert MetadataItem.GetOverviewLanguage() == "", and no equivalent test covers SeasonRecord or EpisodeRecord. These fields are plain proto3 strings, so test their empty default rather than pointer presence. This repository has no consumer call sites for these fields; add downstream consumer coverage where the host ranking logic is implemented instead of adding a synthetic SDK consumer test.
