Issue

Closes #1207

Summary

  • A google-gcp credential could be saved with its service account key (sa_key) as a string. Saving worked, but jobs using it failed later (e.g. a batch assessment run ended as FAILED).
  • The key must now be a JSON object, so a bad key is rejected when the credential is created or updated.
  • Moved credential type definitions into the models layer. No behaviour change.

Impact

  • Credentials with a valid JSON object key are not affected.
  • Clients sending the key as a string now get a validation error and need to send it as a JSON object.
  • Existing credentials stored with a string key need to be saved again.

Checklist

Before submitting a pull request, please ensure that you mark these task.

  • Ran fastapi run --reload app/main.py or docker compose up in the repository root and test.
  • If you've fixed a bug or added code that is tested and has test cases.

📝 Walkthrough

Provider credential schemas and types now live in a dedicated module. Provider utilities and their callers use the relocated declarations. GCP service-account keys require object-shaped JSON, with tests covering validation during parsing, creation, and updates.

Changes: Provider credential models

Layer / File(s) Summary
Define provider credential contracts
backend/app/models/provider_credentials.py, docs/wiki/modules/platform.md
Added provider identifiers, credential schemas, a credential union, and ProviderConfig. Updated the platform documentation to identify the model module as their source.
Update provider utility callers
backend/app/core/providers.py, backend/app/api/routes/credentials.py, backend/app/models/credentials.py, backend/app/models/onboarding.py, backend/app/services/llm/jobs.py, backend/app/tests/api/routes/test_creds.py, backend/app/tests/utils/test_data.py, docs/wiki/modules/tenancy.md
Provider utilities now import credential types from the model module. Callers use the relocated types and provider utility calls. Updated related test imports and tenancy documentation.
Enforce object-shaped GCP service-account keys
backend/app/core/batch/google_gcp.py, backend/app/tests/core/test_providers.py, backend/app/tests/crud/test_credentials.py, docs/wiki/modules/platform.md
GCP service-account keys require an object-shaped value. The batch code passes the key without a cast. Tests cover accepted object values and rejected string or non-object values. Informational batch and storage logs were removed. The platform documentation describes the key shape and legacy string rows.

The change appears mergeable, but the new test would miss a regression when updating an existing GCP credential. Add an existing-row test to protect that path.

Explanation

Issue #1207 requires GoogleGcpCredentials.sa_key to accept only dict[str, JsonValue] and requires removal of the dictionary-shape cast at the GCP call site. backend/app/models/provider_credentials.py defines sa_key with the required type. google_gcp.py passes creds_model.sa_key directly to build_gcp_sa_credentials. The added tests cover valid objects and reject strings and other non-object values during parsing, creation, and update. The change does not attempt automatic repair of legacy rows.

Full details: Out of Scope Changes check

Explanation

The type relocation, focused tests, and documentation support the credential validation objective. The pull request also removes warning logs from backend/app/core/providers.py and informational logs from backend/app/core/batch/google_gcp.py. Issue #1207 does not require these logging changes, and the reviewed evidence does not connect them to the validation fix.

Resolution

Restore the removed warning and informational logging, or provide a separate linked coding requirement that justifies those logging changes.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

Docstring coverage is 66.67% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff. Analyzed 21 functions across 11 files. (2 skipped: 2 unsupported.)

Resolution

Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.

The test does not exercise the existing-row update branch.

test_update_creds_for_google_gcp_rejects_string_sa_key creates only a project. It does not persist an active Google GCP credential, so update_creds_for_org validates the payload and then takes its create branch. Add an existing active credential before the update, then assert that the string sa_key is rejected without changing the stored credential.
