Motivation

Cloud agents that expose MCP tools but do not import native skills currently see only search_assets and read_asset. They cannot choose an Instruction Hub skill directly from its authored trigger. Expose each plugin's skills as ordinary MCP loading tools while preserving the existing native skills interface and generic asset tools.

Summary

  • Derive a read-only, zero-argument tool for each selected plugin/skill membership, such as dev__load_skill_review-change. Projected agent workflows receive the corresponding gtm__load_agent_leadgen-experiment-planner tool. Each description preserves the authored skill trigger.
  • Share projection and tool definitions between local and hosted servers. Names retain the complete plugin prefix, stay stable across metadata changes, and shorten long asset IDs deterministically within 64 characters; compilation rejects collisions and unrepresentable prefixes.
  • Return the complete authored instructions, compatibility metadata, bundle identity, and exact read_asset arguments for supporting files. Loading retrieves content; it does not execute the workflow. Supporting reads pin the same immutable release.
  • Keep native skills/list, skills/get, resources, prompts, and generic tools. No bundle schema change or hub republication is required. Bump pig-toolchain to 0.4.0.

The current published Instruction Hub 0.5.2 bundle produces 65 loading tools across four plugins, plus the two generic tools. Its existing metadata is sufficient to generate every loader.

Validation

  • uv run pytest tests -q -n auto --dist worksteal: 1,034 passed.
  • uv run ruff check src tests scripts, uv run ruff format --check src tests scripts, and uv run ty check src tests scripts --extra-search-path src: passed.
  • Focused coverage includes complete authored content, binary/supporting-file reads, plugin isolation, release pinning, name stability and boundaries, collisions, and tool pagination beyond 50 tools.
  • Loaded all 65 generated tools and every supporting-file reference from the published 0.5.2 bundle.
  • Independent code review and a prospective merge against current main: clean.

Live Dot discovery across all tool pages and selection from a natural task remain deployment acceptance checks.
