🚧 Under active maintenance — vima-bot is being reworked. Expect breaking changes.
vima-bot is moving from a web-based installer/companion tool to a fully terminal-based agent, inspired by opencode.
- Terminal-first UI — replacing the web frontend with an interactive, opencode-style terminal UI (dynamic panes, live updates, keyboard/mouse interaction)
- Single backend, no microservices — consolidating the current Express + WebSocket + separate Python STT/TTS microservice architecture into one orchestrating Node.js process. Sub-processes (Ollama, Python STT/TTS, MCP servers) will still run underneath, but managed transparently via stdio — no exposed ports, no browser client to serve
- MCP tool-calling — adding support for MCP servers (Playwright, GitHub, and others) so the agent can call external tools directly from the terminal
- SQLite-backed state — session history, MCP server config, and tool-call logs persisted locally via SQLite
- WhatsApp integration retained — existing WhatsApp message ingestion carries over unchanged
- Dropping the network layer — Express and WebSocket, previously needed to bridge a browser frontend, are being removed now that the UI lives in the same process as the backend
This repo is in transition. Functionality may be incomplete or unstable until the rework is done. Check back for updates.
