Afterlife (1996) (LucasArts)

Source Media

Installation Options

  • Large installation
  • Resolution: 1024x768
  • Sound card setup: Express
    • Sound card: SB 16/AWE 32/SB 32
    • Port: 220
    • IRQ: 7
    • DMA Channel: 5
    • Stereo Reverse: 0

After installation, replace ALIFE.000 in the install directory with ALIFE.000 from the CD. Then make the following changes to AFTERDOS.INI:

  • Change line 3 to CD Path = C:\ALIFE.000
  • Change line 4 to Save games = C:\SAVE

This allows the game to run without the CD.

DOSC Contents

  • CPU max year set to 1996
  • Auto start
  • Configuration/batch files

Digital Store Variants

The GOG and Steam versions are unfortunately delisted (thanks, Disney). However, the previously available versions match the base, so no variants are provided.

Additional Notes

  • All .INI and .BAT files are embedded in the DAT and provided in the DOSC to allow the digital versions to match the base. Those files are the only differences between the two.
  • This is v1.0 of the game. While there is a CD with v1.1 on it, as far as I can tell that only applies to the Windows version (all CDs have both DOS and Windows). The DOS executable and resource files are the same on both the v1.0 and v1.1 CDs. However, the DOSZ cannot be built from the v1.1 CD because the readme file and boot disk maker executable are different.
