"Slow down" shows while standing still to mark something #26
In field test run 1 (TestFlight build 1.1, PR #23), the walk showed "Slow down: Walk a little slower so the photos stay sharp" twice while the tester stood still with the "What do you see?" sheet open, at 0:57 and 1:03 of the recording. Both times the tester had just turned the phone toward the AC stand-in.
Where. During the walk, the capture gate's moving and blurry skips both become .slowDown once they last 0.7 s (ScanEngine.swift#L546-L561). The comment there says the 0.7 s and 0.5 s timings are guesses not yet tried on a phone. So turning the phone in place, or a blurry frame, reads as walking too fast.
Possible fixes (your call):
hide walk coaching while the mark sheet is open or a mark is in progress;
say "Hold steady" when the phone is turning but not moving along the wall;
Seen seven times in field test run 2 (build 3.1): 0:56, 2:10, 2:42, 2:52, 2:58, 3:34 and 3:55. Most were during a tilt ("Tilt down to show the ground" / "Tilt up to show more wall"), and one was during the gap request. So it isn't only while marking.
Besides the 0.7 s timing, the gate's .moving fires on rotation too: turning faster than 60°/s between frames counts, as well as 1.5 m/s of movement (AutoCapture.swift#L36, AutoCapture.swift#L124). A normal tilt trips it, so "Walk a little slower" is the wrong advice there. "Turn more slowly" or "Hold steady" would fit.

Build 4.1 field test (TestFlight 4.1,
beta45017ba, iPhone 14 without LiDAR, three runs on 2026-09-26): still present in all three runs."Slow down / Walk a little slower so the photos stay sharp" showed mostly while the tester was tilting, turning or crouching in place, not walking:
It shows up more now because tilt tasks take up so much of each walk (#77).
Analyses: PR #60 (run 1, run 2, run 3).
