ios: draw the AR result with the Canvas until RealityKit is seen drawing it - #100
AidenJohnston wants to merge 9 commits into
Conversation
Build 4.1 hid the screen's own drawing as soon as the model was handed to RealityKit, and on an iPhone 14 nothing appeared at all (#67). - Phones without LiDAR draw the result with BatteryOverlay again, as 3.1 did. - On LiDAR phones showResult now only means "attempted". A watcher polls LiveCapture.resultIsDrawn every 0.1 s (anchored, enabled, battery middle on screen) and ResultOverlayPolicy hands over to RealityKit after 0.5 s of drawing, and back to the Canvas at once. The checks are logged when they change. - setOcclusion no longer re-runs the session for people occlusion, which is off until #41 is decided. The LiDAR mesh occlusion stays. - A wall that moved less than 5 cm / 2 degrees keeps the built model. - An edge chevron points to the spot while it is off screen, and the drawn overlay carries the ar.overlay accessibility identifier. Adversarial review of U1 (#67, part of #41) at head 41291e8, base t3/ios-mvf (the branch is up to date with its base).
I read the full changed files on the branch and grepped every call site of showResult, hideResult, setResultVisible, resultInCamera, occludesPeople/supportsPeopleOcclusion, TargetMarker and spotCenter. I also checked the 4.1 evidence: #67 and its comment, #41's comments, and the run 1 and run 2 analyses (A41-1-02, A41-2015-01).
Must fix
None.
The fix addresses the observed failure. On the iPhone 14 (no LiDAR) showResultInCamera now returns at the LiveCapture.supportsMesh guard before it touches RealityKit, so resultInCamera stays false. ResultARScreen then draws BatteryOverlay from state.projection/state.wall, which ingest keeps updating in .idle mode because pose frames are still delivered. That is the 3.1 path, and it works regardless of which hypothesis, (a) to (d), explains 4.1.
Should fix
ios/HouseScan/Runtime/LiveCapture.swift:184, withScanEngine.swift:1215: on a LiDAR phone, RealityKit hands the result back to the Canvas every time the battery's middle leaves the view.resultIsDrawnrequiresonScreen, andResultOverlayPolicydrops to the Canvas on the first false.- Scenario: on a LiDAR phone the model is confirmed (anchored, enabled, spot in view for 0.5 s). The homeowner turns to the meter to see where the cable starts, and the battery's middle leaves the view. The Canvas comes straight back and draws a second copy of the cable and clearance tint over the RealityKit copy. The two are offset by up to the 5 cm rebuild tolerance plus the corrections
MeterAnchorTrackingholds back, and the Canvas copy isn't occluded by the mesh. Turning back to the spot gives 0.5 s of both layers again. - "Off screen" says nothing about whether RealityKit is still drawing. The brief's spec causes this, but it will be the first thing a LiDAR device check shows.
- Suggested fix: keep
onScreenfor the confirmation, but onceusesRealityKitis true, release it only when!anchored || !enabled(or the anchor leaves the session). For example, pass two booleans to the policy (drawnandstillAnchored), or latch in the engine. Add a policy test: confirmed, then off screen but still anchored, stays on RealityKit.
- Scenario: on a LiDAR phone the model is confirmed (anchored, enabled, spot in view for 0.5 s). ios/HouseScan/UI/Screens/ResultARScreen.swift:128: the chevron's "on screen" test is the whole view inset by 24 pt.WayfindingOverlay.placementusesCGRect(x: 36, y: 150, width: w-72, height: h-330).- Scenario: the spot is under the instruction card at the top or the Done button at the bottom. No chevron shows, the battery is hidden behind the chrome, and the homeowner sees neither.
- Suggested fix: use the same bounds as the walk's ring/chevron hand-off.
Notes
- Swift mental compile. I checked these and found no problem:
ARView.project(_:) -> CGPoint?,ARView.cameraTransform,AnchorEntity.isAnchored,Entity.isEnabledInHierarchy,position(relativeTo: nil),SIMD4(SIMD3, w).CameraProjection.viewPoint(for:in:)andscreenDirection(toward:);WallGeometry.world(s:height:out:);BatterySpotfields;WallGeometry.Segmentfields (spanis aClosedRange<Float>, so thea == bcheck before subtracting handles infinite bounds).ResultOverlayPolicyand its members arepublic, and the test uses only public API.- Swift 6 isolation: the
Task { [weak self] in }inherits@MainActorfromScanEngine;LiveCaptureandEntityare MainActor; the static lets in a@MainActorclass are read only from its static method. TargetMarkerbecoming internal is fine.@Environment ... private vardoesn't make the memberwise init private;ResultARScreenalready relies on this.- The policy test expectations hold under Double arithmetic:
5 * 0.1 == 0.5,10.6 - 10 ≈ 0.59999…,1.4 - 0.8 ≈ 0.6. ResultARModel.buildis unchanged.risefinds the unit by name, so the extra empty marker child of the root doesn't affect it.
- PR body inaccuracies.
- The Risk bullet "During the battery's 0.7 s rise its middle starts at the ground" is wrong. The focus marker is a child of the model root (
LiveCapture.swift:153), not of the unitriseanimates, so the marker sits at the final middle throughout the rise. - "The chevron shows only when the spot is off screen, which is probably not the case in the demo state": I checked, and it isn't.
DemoScene.projectionis 5 m back at x = 0.6 and the spot's middle is about (0.95, 0.55, 0.31), well inside the view. So neither the CI screenshot nor the accessibility audit covers the chevron (fixed-size glyph plus text). Consider a-uiDemoflag or state that puts the spot off screen.
- The Risk bullet "During the battery's 0.7 s rise its middle starts at the ground" is wrong. The focus marker is a child of the model root (
- Accessibility wording.
ar.overlay's label "The battery, drawn on your wall at its spot" (ResultARScreen.swift:25/32) also shows when the battery projects nowhere on screen.- The chevron's label "Turn the phone toward the arrow" (
:116) gives a VoiceOver user no direction. Adding left/right/up/down would help.
- Leftovers.
configuration(occludingPeople:)(LiveCapture.swift:74) andsupportsPeopleOcclusionare now dead code. This is fine because U19 decides whether they come back; just flagging it.extension ResultPresentation.spotCenterlives in a UI screen file but the runtime engine calls it (ScanEngine.swift). It would sit better inScanContract.swiftnext toResultPresentation.
- Rebuild skip (
ScanEngine.swift:1192). This is correct for anchor corrections because the model rides the anchor. The one visible cost is a ground refinement under 5 cm, which the model won't show. That is acceptable and documented. - Scope. There are no
project.ymlorproject.pbxprojedits.ScanContract.swiftchanges only the doc comment onresultInCamera(declared). The PR makes no occlusion decision and leavesingest, refineGroundandrefreshMeterFromAnchoruntouched. - Public-repo check. The diff, PR body and commit message contain no names, meter numbers or serials, addresses, emails,
private/content or media. - PR body completeness. It has Fixes #67, Part of #41, the base, CI vs device-only checks, files touched, dependencies and the attribution line.
- Checks.
iOS buildis skipping (this is a draft; there is no PR-triggered iOS run), and CodeRabbit skipped the draft. Nothing here has been compiled. The body's "CI builds the app and runs … the UI tests" is true only once the PR leaves draft or a manual iOS run is triggered, and that run has to pass (build, HouseScanKit tests,ScreenStatesUITestsresultARaudit) before merge. - Device checks (U16). As listed in the body: the iPhone 14 draws via the Canvas; a LiDAR phone draws, with the
AR result:andAR result drawn bylog lines attached.

Adversarial review of U1 (head 41291e8, base t3/ios-mvf; fixes #67, part of #41).
I checked the diff against #67, the #41 decision comment and the public 4.1 run analyses (run1-2000 A41-1-02, run2-2015 A41-2015-01). On the phone that was tested (iPhone 14, no LiDAR), this PR puts back the 3.1 path exactly. showResultInCamera now returns before live.showResult when !LiveCapture.supportsMesh, so the session re-run never happens, resultInCamera stays false, and BatteryOverlay draws under the same conditions as before 2d33cea (.idle mode, tracking == .normal, projection/wall/result set). That addresses the observed failure.
CI status: the PR-triggered iOS job skipped because this is a draft. The workflow_dispatch run 36296803483 on 41291e8 got these results:
- Build: passed, so the Swift compiles, including Swift 6 isolation.
- Test HouseScanKit: passed, including
ResultOverlayPolicyTests. - UI tests:
testEveryStatePassesTheAccessibilityAuditpassed. That covers theresultARexpectation onar.overlayand the audit. - Failure:
FullFlowUITests.testCantGetThereEndsWhereThePhoneIsfailed with "screen.gapRequest never appeared". It fails during the walk, before any code this PR changes (see Should fix 2).

ios/HouseScan/Runtime/LiveCapture.swift:177-184,ios/HouseScan/Runtime/ScanEngine.swift:1215: "on screen" both confirms RealityKit and keeps it, so a LiDAR phone draws the result twice most of the time.- Scenario: on a LiDAR phone RealityKit is confirmed. The homeowner then aims at the meter and conduit, where the cable starts, which is what both 4.1 testers did. The spot is 12 to 18 ft away, so the battery's middle leaves the view and
resultIsDrawn()returns false. resultInCameradrops andBatteryOverlaydraws the cable and zones on top of RealityKit's copy of them. The Canvas copy isn't occluded, and it sits a little apart from the 3D one, so the mesh occlusion that #41 wants is gone exactly where the cable is.- Each time the spot comes back into view, both batteries show for at least 0.5 s. Sweeping across the view edge makes the two layers flicker.
- Fix: require on-screen only to confirm. Once confirmed, keep RealityKit while
isAnchored && isEnabledInHierarchy. For example, resultIsDrawncould return(chainOK, onScreen)andResultOverlayPolicy.updatecould take both. Add a policy test: confirmed, then off screen but still anchored, stays on RealityKit. If the team prefers the current behavior, add it to the PR's Risk section.

Notes
ScanEngine.swift:1236,1255: the 2° tolerance is loose next to the 5 cm one far from the meter. At the 18 ft spot in run 2 (about 5.5 m), a 1.9° change inalong/outwardmoves the battery about 18 cm and still skips the rebuild. The risk is low. The brief's 5 cm / 2° came from turns ARKit makes to the anchor, and the model follows those because it hangs on the anchor. On this screenpublishWallcomes only from refining the ground and the meter. If a turn ever comes from somewhere else, comparingwall.world(...)at the spot's centre between the old and new walls would be tighter.ResultARScreen.swift:128-131: a spot hidden under the card gets no chevron. The chevron hides when the spot is anywhere inside a 24 pt inset of the screen. The lane it would sit in leaves out the top 260 pt (instruction card) and the bottom 300 pt (buttons). A spot that projects under the card or the buttons therefore gets no chevron, and the battery is covered.ScanEngine.swift:1188: the watcher isn't restarted after it stops by itself. If the watcher returns on its own (live == nil),resultWatchstays non-nil, and only arisingcall starts it again. Every exit from.resultARgoes throughgo(), andgo()callshideResultInCamera(), so I found no path where this leavesresultInCamerastuck.LiveCapture.swift: dead code kept for U19.configuration(occludingPeople:)andsupportsPeopleOcclusionhave no caller that turns them on. Reset the overlay policy when rebuilding the AR model
When publishWall() triggers a rebuild after RealityKit has already been selected, showResult synchronously removes and replaces the entity without resetting resultWatch or state.resultInCamera. If the replacement is anchored by the next poll, ResultOverlayPolicy never observes a false value, so the new model bypasses the required 0.5-second confirmation and the Canvas remains hidden throughout the replacement—the same blank-result failure this fallback is intended to prevent if the replacement entity does not render. Restart the policy or force the Canvas fallback before replacing the model.
Useful? React with 👍 / 👎.
There was a problem hiding this comment.
@AidenJohnston Confirmed at 41291e8 and beta 5bc81fb. A LiDAR anchor/ground correction beyond the rebuild tolerance replaces the entity while the watcher retains its previous confirmation. A replacement that looks anchored/enabled/onscreen by the next poll never receives a fresh 0.5-second confirmation. Please reset confirmation and restore Canvas before an actual replacement, after the no-rebuild early return, and cover confirmed-model replacement. Non-LiDAR uses the separate Canvas path; a visible blank frame has not been reproduced here.
There was a problem hiding this comment.
@AidenJohnston Rechecked acfb67e. The actual-replacement reset fixes inherited confirmation, and ordinary offscreen movement keeps RealityKit ownership. One conditional duplicate-render path remains: ScanEngine.swift:1221-1231 resets to Canvas, then installs/enables the replacement while its battery focus is offscreen. held=true/drawn=false keeps Canvas active indefinitely until the focus returns, while RealityKit can still draw the visible cable/clearance geometry. Please make that replacement handoff exclusive and cover offscreen replacement with visible non-focus geometry. The heldOnly policy test alone does not check both renderer states. LiDAR-only source finding; no device reproduction. This refines the existing duplicate-layer finding, not a claim of new blank-render evidence.

Projection changes go unlogged
The log prints the projected position, but lastDrawnReport compares only the four booleans. As someone moves the phone, the position can change substantially without another log entry. That removes useful location evidence when diagnosing a missing AR result; consider logging meaningful position changes or sampling them at a bounded interval.

…a rebuilt model again Review of #100 (5328946100): once RealityKit was confirmed, the battery's middle leaving the view brought the Canvas back while the RealityKit model stayed enabled, so the cable and tint were drawn twice. `resultIsDrawn` now returns `drawn` (anchored, enabled, in view) and `held` (anchored, enabled). `ResultOverlayPolicy` confirms only on `drawn` and, once confirmed, keeps RealityKit while `held`; losing the anchor or the entity still goes back to the Canvas at once. Codex on #100: a model rebuilt for a moved wall kept the old confirmation. The engine now keeps the policy as a property and calls `modelReplaced()` before a real replacement (after the no-rebuild early return), which puts the Canvas back until the new model is seen drawing for 0.5 s. New policy tests: confirmed then off screen stays on RealityKit; held but never in view keeps the Canvas; a replaced model goes back to the Canvas and is confirmed again. …e button Review of #100 (5328946100, should-fix 2): the chevron hid whenever the spot was anywhere inside a 24 pt inset of the view, including under the instruction card and the Done button, where it can't be seen. It now hides only while the spot is in the part of the screen the chrome leaves clear. Its caption sits on the solid scrim the other camera captions use, since it can now show in more places. Switch ownership when tracking re-enables RealityKit
When tracking returns to normal after this model was confirmed, ingest enables the RealityKit entity immediately, but the watcher does not restore resultInCamera until its next 100 ms poll. During that interval ResultARScreen sees normal tracking with resultInCamera == false and draws the Canvas over the enabled RealityKit model, producing the duplicate cable and clearance tint this policy is meant to prevent. Update the overlay ownership synchronously when re-enabling a confirmed model, or delay enabling RealityKit until this task switches ownership.
Useful? React with 👍 / 👎.
There was a problem hiding this comment.
@AidenJohnston Source check agrees at acfb67e: ingest enables the entity synchronously at ScanEngine.swift:369, while ownership changes only in the 100 ms watcher at1244-1246. Please update ownership and model visibility together on tracking recovery. This is a short overlap distinct from the already-requested indefinite offscreen-replacement overlap. No device timing measurement.

Measure the instruction card before hiding the chevron
At accessibility Dynamic Type sizes, CameraChrome lets the instruction card grow and scroll, but this test always treats everything below the fixed y-coordinate 260 as unobscured. The enlarged title and placement detail can extend below that boundary, so a battery center behind the opaque card is classified as visible and the new directional chevron disappears precisely when the user cannot see the spot. Base the clear region on the card's actual frame or otherwise account for Dynamic Type rather than using the fixed inset.
Useful? React with 👍 / 👎.
There was a problem hiding this comment.
@AidenJohnston Confirmed the source limitation at acfb67e ResultARScreen.swift:133-136: both visibility and placement use fixed260/160 insets. Please use the measured card/button region for enlarged text and verify the chevron stays available when the spot is obscured. This carries the known large-text limitation from #137; it is not a new hardware observation.

The model now goes in with `OpacityComponent(opacity: 0)` and shows only while the AR scene owns the result. `LiveCapture.setResultOwned` is called from `ScanEngine.setResultInCamera`, so visibility and ownership change together. It stays enabled and anchored while see-through, so `resultIsDrawn` still confirms it. The rebuild decision moved into `ResultOverlayPolicy.needsModel(for:rising:)` with a new `ResultModelShape` (the old `movedLittle` tolerances). A rebuild hands the result back to the Canvas in the same call, so the engine can't build without resetting. New tests: a rebuilt model goes back to the Canvas and is confirmed again; one rebuilt out of view stays on the Canvas until seen; a small move keeps the confirmed model; a 3 degree turn or a new corner rebuilds; reopening rebuilds; a model that couldn't go in leaves none. … lays it out The first off-screen audit (Mac mini, 31c0403) failed at AX5: the grown card and the Done button leave no camera clear, so the caption drawn over the camera went under the Done button and off the bottom of the screen ("Contrast failed" on "Your battery spot is this way"). The caption, `ar.spotDirection`, is now a row in CameraChrome's bottom stack above Done, so it is laid out, and scrolls, with the rest of the chrome at every text size. It has an arrow turned toward the spot in eighths of a turn, and VoiceOver hears which way ("to the right"). The camera keeps only the edge chevron, hidden from VoiceOver, and only where the measured clear area fits it. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win
held ignores the inSession result that this function computes.
resultIsDrawn computes inSession, but it only writes that value to the log. It returns held = anchored && enabled. After confirmation, ResultOverlayPolicy keeps RealityKit as owner while held is true, and the Canvas stays hidden. If ARKit removes the meter anchor, RealityKit can still report isAnchored as true for a short time. During that time the screen shows no result at all. This is the #67 failure that this PR fixes.
Add inSession to both values so the ownership decision uses the same chain that the log reports.
Proposed fix
- return (anchored && enabled && onScreen, anchored && enabled)
+ let held = inSession && anchored && enabled
+ return (held && onScreen, held)📝 Committable suggestion

Chevron can point away. At larger text sizes, the instruction card can cover a spot that appears below the camera’s center but above the clear area. This code uses the direction from the camera’s center, so the chevron and caption point down even though the spot is above the chevron. That makes the new guidance misleading. For a spot in front of the camera, base the direction on its position relative to the clear area.

@AidenJohnston Caretaker check at 0ada11b: confirmed, and new in this PR. On a 390×844 view with cardBottom = 500 and controlsTop = 740, the clear area is y = 508…732. A spot in front of the camera projects to (195, 480), which is hidden under the card and above the clear area, but screenDirection measures from the camera centre (y = 422) and returns "down". The chevron lands at (195, 698) pointing away from the spot (ResultARScreen.swift:160-168), and the caption and VoiceOver text follow it. The measured bounds from the earlier fix work; only the origin is wrong. Please measure the direction from the clear lane's centre to the projected point when the spot is in front of the camera, keep the camera-space direction for spots behind it, and add a geometry test for this case that expects an upward chevron and caption.
* Generate the WS-09 gate overlays before gates-offline. Derive the gravel scene, write decidability reports, stripped-coverage verdicts, and C2 veto pairs from the criteria engine when the laser PLYs are cached. The gravel footprint row now runs and fails closed: the chosen route is 9.1834 ft against the 9.0 ft bar. * Keep the over-bar gravel route out of the committed gate table. The footprint3in overlay fails route_ft_max 9.0 at 9.1834 ft, so it stays uncommitted and the row SKIPs until that route comes down. The passing decidability, angle80, no-coverage, and veto rows stay in the table. * Record the gravel route miss as KNOWN_FAIL. Commit the footprint3in overlay and score it as a dated WS-09 known failure instead of a silent skip. gates-offline reads the committed fixtures unless --update is set. angle80 uses the same absent_facts=ignore, and the table pins the LaMAR real-phone row, the ws-11-ci host, and the SD-93 ground-strip warning. * Pin the gravel known failure to the recorded route. KNOWN_FAIL applies only within 0.05 ft of 9.1834 ft; a larger miss fails. The LaMAR host row passes only when the measurement file records ws-11-ci, and the SD-93 warning reads its measurement file. Runtime fields are stripped from the older overlays. * Name the gravel known failure as an SD-96 self-occlusion miss. The row stays KNOWN_FAIL at the recorded 9.1834 ft route. PR 109's near-wall standoff is not the fix. * Skip a known warning when its measurement is missing. A present evidence file with a missing or null metric is SKIP, not a fabricated PASS. * Fail a committed ground-strip warning that leaves its pin. Missing or malformed evidence is FAIL. WARN only within 0.001 of 0.069 with empty claims, and the note is taken from the measurement file. --------- Co-authored-by: hss-cloud-agent <hss-cloud-agent@users.noreply.github.com>
Fixes #67
Part of #41: this removes the people-occlusion session re-run. Whether people occlusion comes back, and how, is still the #41 decision.
Base:
t3/ios-mvf.What changed
"See it on your wall" draws the battery with the Canvas unless RealityKit is seen drawing it. In build 4.1,
LiveCapture.showResultreturned true as soon as the meter's ARAnchor was in the current frame.ScanEngine.showResultInCamerastored that instate.resultInCamera, andResultARScreenthen stopped drawingBatteryOverlay. On the iPhone 14 RealityKit drew nothing, not even the cable, so the homeowner saw no battery at all.resultInCamerastays false andBatteryOverlaydraws it, as build 3.1 did.showResultreturning true now only means the model was handed over. A main-actor task started byshowResultInCamerapolls the newLiveCapture.resultIsDrawn()about every 0.1 s while the phase is.resultAR. That check needs theAnchorEntityto be anchored and enabled, and the battery's middle (the meter when there is no spot) to project insidearView.boundsin front of the camera. The newResultOverlayPolicyin HouseScanKit setsresultInCameraonly after 0.5 s of unbroken drawing. Once confirmed, RealityKit keeps the result while its entity is anchored and enabled, even with the battery out of view, so only one layer draws it; losing the anchor or the entity goes back to the Canvas at once. A model rebuilt for a moved wall goes back to the Canvas and is confirmed again (modelReplaced).hideResultInCameracancels the task.ScanEngine.ingestis unchanged.resultIsDrawnlogs whether the anchor is in the session,isAnchored,isEnabledInHierarchy, whether the point is on screen, and where it projected, onRuntimeLog.engine, and only when one of them changes. The engine logs each hand-over ("AR result drawn by the AR scene / the screen overlay"), andshowResultlogs when the meter's anchor is missing. No session re-run for people occlusion.
setOcclusionused to callarView.session.run(configuration(occludingPeople:))on every A12+ phone right after adding the anchor entity. That is the prime suspect for #67, although no device log proves it. It now only toggles the LiDAR mesh occlusion (arView.environment.sceneUnderstanding.options).start()andrestart()run the default configuration, so people occlusion is off.Fewer rebuilds. Every
publishWallon this screen used to tear the model down and add a new one, and the ground and meter refinements fire on 1 to 2 cm changes.showResultInCamera(rising: false)now keeps the built model while the meter, ground, ends, directions and corner pieces have moved less than 5 cm and turned less than 2° since the last build. The model hangs on the meter's anchor, so it still follows the anchor's corrections. The callers ofpublishWallare unchanged. An edge chevron toward an off-screen spot. While the battery's middle projects outside the part of the screen the instruction card and the Done button leave clear,
ResultARScreenshowsTargetMarker's.offScreenchevron in the walk's chevron lane, with the words "Your battery spot is this way".TargetMarkerinWayfindingOverlay.swiftchanged fromprivateto internal. Its body is unchanged.A UI test hook. The drawn overlay is now an accessibility element with the identifier
ar.overlayand a label ("The battery, drawn on your wall at its spot"). It wasaccessibilityHiddenbefore. When RealityKit draws, an empty element with the same identifier and label takes its place. Why
The Canvas path is the one that drew on a device in build 3.1. RealityKit gives no signal that it drew anything, so the app now checks the steps it can observe (anchored, enabled, in view) and falls back to the Canvas whenever one of them fails. The 0.5 s hold keeps a settling anchor from flickering the two layers.
ResultARModel.buildand the inverse anchor rotation are unchanged; their math checks out.UI changes
N/A for captures: I have no Simulator or device on this machine. On a phone without LiDAR the AR screen should look like build 3.1's. The new chevron appears only while the spot is off screen. The CI screenshot of the
resultARstate is the first place to look.Verification
ResultOverlayPolicyTests: never drawn keeps the Canvas; held but never in view keeps the Canvas; drawn for 0.4 s keeps the Canvas; drawn for 0.6 s hands over to RealityKit; confirmed then off screen stays on RealityKit; losing the anchor goes back to the Canvas at once; a break before confirmation restarts the 0.5 s; a clock that runs back doesn't confirm early; a replaced model goes back to the Canvas and is confirmed again.ScreenStatesUITests: theresultARstate (-uiDemoPhase resultAR, whereDemoEngineleavesresultInCamerafalse) now expectsar.overlaywith "drawn on your wall" in its label. The state still runs the accessibility audit.showResult,hideResult,setResultVisible,resultInCamera,TargetMarkerandoccludesPeople.ScanEngine.showResultInCamerais the only caller ofshowResult(_:builtFor:focus:), andoccludesPeoplehas no remaining references.Only a device can check (U16):

OpacityComponent) until it owns the result. On a LiDAR phone the Canvas draws for the first 0.5 s with the battery in view, and again after each rebuild (the wall moved more than 5 cm or 2°) until the new model has been seen for 0.5 s. The opacity handover itself needs a LiDAR device to check.resultIsDrawnchecks the chain, not pixels. If RealityKit anchors the entity and still draws nothing, the Canvas steps aside. The new log lines are how we'd see that.ar.overlayelement (resultAR) and the off-screen direction captionar.spotDirection(resultAR-spotOffScreen, also at AX5).
