T5.3: implement kt_sync_to_linear (real Linear GraphQL sync) - #25
Conversation
Mirrors the shipped T5.2 GitHub sync: track_external_links is the authoritative idempotency key, a durable 'pending' creation-intent is committed before the outbound mutation, crash recovery adopts via the hidden marker and never auto-recreates, and the client is injectable so CI never calls Linear. No new migration — the T5.2 table and tracks.last_linear_sync_at already generalize. Linear-specific (frontier panel 2026-09-19, unanimous auto_lookup_with_config_override): - GraphQL client (raw fetch, no SDK; Authorization: <key>, no Bearer; 200-with-errors handled; ambiguous flag for create safety). - Workflow-state resolver: a done track's issue moves to a completed state (team's lowest-position completed, or optional done_state_id); a non-done track's issue is never moved backward unless a valid open_state_id is configured. Two optional adapter-config fields added. - Error prefixes LINEAR_AUTH_FAILED / NOT_FOUND / RATE_LIMITED / TIMEOUT / STATE_CONFIG / UNKNOWN_ERROR; kt_get_track exposes linear_issue_url. Removes the now-dead sync-shared stub. Offline unit + integration tests (fake LinearClient, no network). Docs: ROADMAP T5.3 + PRD 4.14 updated. - linear-client: keep 5xx ambiguous even with Retry-After (P1 — was reclassified as a definitive rate-limit, risking a duplicate on the next create); treat a mutation's opaque GraphQL errors array as ambiguous (P1 — may have committed); treat an explicit success:false mutation payload as definitive so the pending claim clears cleanly. - linear-payload: fold configured done_state_id/open_state_id into the no-op content hash so re-registering with a different override re-syncs instead of a false no-op. - sync-to-linear: refresh the stored external_url on update (a Linear URL can change while the issue id is stable). - track-external-links: updateLinkedContentHash optionally refreshes external_url (GitHub call unchanged). - docs: README / TEST_CASES / TRD now describe the shipped Linear sync (no longer a stub) incl. LINEAR_RATE_LIMITED / LINEAR_STATE_CONFIG. - +5 regression tests (56 Linear tests green). - linear-client: map Linear's HTTP-200 GraphQL entity-not-found errors (missing team/issue) to LINEAR_NOT_FOUND per the PRD contract, definitive (not ambiguous). Regression test added. - docs: remove the remaining stub-era Linear passages (PRD SYNC_DRIFT row, Adapter glossary, Track data-model row) and fix the TRD source-tree note (drop the deleted sync-shared.ts reference and the 'until T5 starts' claim). - sync-to-linear: resolve the Linear workflow state BEFORE committing the durable pending claim, so a crash during that (Linear-only) network read can't wedge a pending row for a create that was never attempted; the claim (ON CONFLICT DO NOTHING) still commits before the outbound mutation. - sync-to-linear: validate a configured done_state_id/open_state_id eagerly (even on a non-done track) so a misconfigured override surfaces as LINEAR_STATE_CONFIG up front instead of only when the track later becomes done. - docs: reconcile the remaining stub-era passages — TRD 5.3 credential-access paragraph (sync path is implemented; clients under src/github, src/linear); and add github_issue_url/linear_issue_url to the kt_get_track output contract in PRD 4.4 and TRD 3.5. - +1 regression test (58 Linear tests green). - schemas: trim done_state_id/open_state_id and reject whitespace-only overrides at registration (a blank override no longer silently falls back to auto behavior). +4 schema tests. - docs: reconcile remaining status inconsistencies — README dogfood count (11->12) + github tool-table row (dogfooded, not pending); TRD appendix SYNC_DRIFT note (sync tools implemented T5.2/T5.3, only the drift rule is T6); and document done_state_id/open_state_id in the kt_register_project Linear contract (PRD inputs table + TRD JSON schema). - B1 (duplicate risk): a GraphQL-layer error on a MUTATION no longer downgrades ambiguity by message category. A GraphQL 200-with-errors means the request was accepted and (partially) executed, and the spec allows execution errors after a side effect — so auth/rate-limit/not-found messages on a create are now ambiguous:true (pending kept for marker recovery), not a false 'definitely no write' clear that could let a retry duplicate. Reads stay non-ambiguous. - B2 (credential hygiene): redact the api_key from every error string the client returns (HTTP body, GraphQL message, and thrown-exception paths), so a key echoed by an upstream body or a native-fetch exception never reaches tool output. Truncation is not redaction. - +5 regression tests (ambiguity-by-operation, read vs mutation, credential redaction for body + exception). Adversarial panel: Gemini release_ready(10); GPT-6 fix_then_release(0.97) raised B1/B2 (fixed here) + a no-op revalidation edge (B3) assessed non-blocking — a no-op pushes nothing, so an externally-deleted state surfaces on the next real sync. - linear-client: redact the api_key from the FULL upstream text BEFORE truncating to 300 chars, so a boundary-straddling secret can't survive as an unmatched partial (Codex 4054731793). - linear-client: keep pre-execution GraphQL rejections DEFINITIVE (auth / rate-limit / entity-not-found -> ambiguous:false); only a generic opaque mutation error stays ambiguous (ambiguous:isMutation), reconciling the GPT-6 adversarial pass with Codex 4054731794 -- a wedged pending claim after an expired-then-rotated key is worse than the opaque-error case. - linear-payload: reject a 'completed' open_state_id as well as 'canceled' (both terminal) with LINEAR_STATE_CONFIG (Codex 4054731797); schema comment updated to "non-terminal (backlog/unstarted/started)". - docs: align the Linear source_ref contract across PRD inputs, PRD glossary and TRD schema -- source_ref is the Linear project identity; the team issues sync into is adapters.linear.team_id, separate (CodeRabbit 4054671748). Tests: reconciled linear-client ambiguity cases + boundary-redaction test; added a completed-open-state rejection test. Full suite green (366 tests); typecheck/lint/prettier/roadmap-drift clean. PRD inputs table said "Repo URL"; the code stores source_ref unchanged and the
GitHub adapter passes it straight to /repos/{source_ref}/issues, so a repo URL
is an invalid API path — and since source_ref is part of the (source_type,
source_ref) upsert key, a URL vs owner/repo register as different projects.
Documents the owner/repo contract, matching the TRD schema and the code.

…nel) Reverses the round-5 "pre-execution definitive" classification for the HTTP-200 GraphQL-errors path. A 200 response can carry partial data plus top-level errors, and a text match over the message cannot prove the mutation did not execute, so clearing the pending creation claim risks a DUPLICATE issue. On a mutation, rate-limit / auth / not-found GraphQL errors now stay ambiguous (ambiguous:isMutation) and keep the pending link for marker recovery; reads remain definitive; HTTP-status auth (401/403), rate-limit (429/400) and not-found (404) remain definitive in mapHttpError (covering the expired-key case). Honors the invariant "duplicate prevention takes priority over auto-retry when the outcome cannot be established." An independent 4-model frontier panel ruled the prior definitive form unsafe; the fully-correct code+data classifier is logged as a T5.3 follow-up that needs real Linear response bodies (live dogfood). Tests: mutation rate-limit/auth/not-found now assert ambiguous; reads stay definitive; opaque and HTTP-status cases unchanged. Full suite green (366). - linear-client: classify GraphQL/HTTP errors on the FULL redacted text and truncate only the detail returned, so an identifying keyword past char 300 is no longer dropped and misread as LINEAR_UNKNOWN_ERROR (mapGraphqlErrors + mapHttpError). Regression test added. - ROADMAP: mark T5.2's real-repo GitHub dogfood gate COMPLETE (Issue #24), reconciling with the README; T5.3's real-workspace dogfood stays pending. - TRD 5.3: name the actual rotation credential reader (listAllAdapters, called by scripts/rotate-encryption-key.ts); note listAdaptersForProject is unused. Not changed: the mutation GraphQL-error ambiguity (re-flagged) stays ambiguous per the frontier panel + CodeRabbit; the allowlisted-code classifier requested is the logged T5.3 follow-up gated on real Linear response bodies (dogfood). HTTP-401 auth stays definitive in mapHttpError, covering the expired-key case. Full suite green (367). …#27 round) Addresses two CodeRabbit review comments on PR #27: - T5.3 detailed status still said "offline-verified" with a remaining real-workspace acceptance gate; it was dogfooded live in PRs #25/#26. Updated to "dogfooded in a real Linear workspace" and marked the gate cleared. - T5.4 entry labeled "unit-tested"; it has both unit (tests/unit/revoke-credential-args.test.ts) and integration (tests/integration/revoke-credential.test.ts) coverage. Relabeled "unit- and integration-tested". Docs-only; no code touched. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01278w3fed8ZcXjHpKrFHWDw
