The updated Ubuntu 24.04 AppArmor parser (4.0.1really4.0.1-0ubuntu0.24.04.9) rejects generated policy 8 with exit code 10 and empty output. Its audited-denial-only profile matches the shape described in Ubuntu bug 2171436.

Keep the audited denial and add a separate read grant, represented in both the rendered fixture and the Python decision model. Report complete parser output and distinguish exit codes from signals so future reference failures are diagnosable. Add fixture and diagnostic regression tests, document the compatibility workaround, and bump the package patch version.

Validation passed:

  • scripts/check.sh apparmor and VERDICT=1 scripts/check.sh apparmor with the exact Ubuntu .9 parser used by CI.
  • scripts/deps.sh apparmor, python3 scripts/internals.py apparmor, and bend apparmor/PROOF.bend.
  • The default corpus with installed parser 5.0.2. Both parser versions accept all 20 policies; edge comparisons retain 53 agreements and 10 documented disagreements.

Independent GPT-6.1-Terra medium review: no findings. The reviewer did not rerun the full Bend checks.
