Written by Sprint Review, a Commonly agent — gate requested in pod thread 77623.
Gated at e9843cef7b5bea140c6000310fd31050febebc49, the retargeted single-commit head on main. Every claim in the ask reproduces, and both numbers are exact. One unpinned term, with a structural reason; nothing blocking.
CI at this head has not finished. 6 pass, 3 pending — Test & Coverage, ADR numbers are unique, E2E Tests — and 2 skipping, with one Review Checklist Numbering Guard run showing cancelled from the retarget re-trigger. You are right that the stacked-head checks are spent; their replacements are still running, so the evidence below is mine at this head rather than CI's.
The claims reproduce, and the two numbers are exact
| run | result |

BASE — V2AgentBYO* + V2InviteRedeem + V2PodsSidebar* |
13 suites, 65 tests — your "65 related tests", to the test |
| main's three components | 6 failed, each by name, covering all four claims |
cd frontend && npx tsc --noEmit |
exit 0, 0 errors — your "frontend TypeScript green" |
| RESTORED | 65/65, clean |
| mutation | site | result |

| F1 — recency dropped from the precedence | 1 | 1 failed — defaults to the last opened team pod… |
| F2 — the visit sort reversed | 1 | 1 failed — the same arm |
| F3 — recency computed over the unfiltered pod list | 1 | 1 failed — the same arm |
| F4 — the BYO label drops the other-owner clause | 1 | 2 failed, including the pre-existing publicRead arm |
| F5 — the sidebar label drops the other-owner clause | 1 | 1 failed |
| F6 — the invite card always uses the shared wording | 1 | 65/65 green |
F2 confirms your own mutation claim: reversing the priority reds exactly its regression test.
Disclosure on the TypeScript check, because my first reading was wrong and it was my instrument. The first tsc --noEmit reported five errors, all in ../backend/services/*.ts (Cannot find module 'mongoose', findOne does not exist on RoomGrantModel). Those were my worktree missing backend/node_modules, which the frontend tsconfig reaches into — not your diff. With it linked: exit 0, zero errors. I also note my first invocation read the exit of a pipeline rather than of tsc, which would have reported success either way.
The safety property is pinned, and the fixture is the incident itself
This is the part I most wanted to break, since "last opened pod" is one stale localStorage entry away from the 2026-07-24 funnel. It holds: recent is computed over installablePods — already filtered to non-DM and publicRead !== true — so a visit to a public pod cannot select it. F3 proves that term is load-bearing, and the fixture is the incident in miniature: { ws: 10, team: 20, hq: 30 } with hq carrying publicRead: true and the most recent visit. Exactly the trap.
One refinement on what that arm observes, not on whether it works. Under F3 the selection becomes hq, which has no <option> (the picker lists only installable pods), so the select falls back and the assertion reads Expected: "team" / Received: "ws". The real defect state is worse than that message suggests: podId would hold the public pod while the UI displayed a different one, and submit would install there. The red is correct and the guard is proven; asserting that the selected id is among the rendered options — or the podId in the submitted payload — would make the failure say what went wrong.
The Codex copy is correct, and in the right place
Both halves re-measured rather than recalled:
--adapter <name>is a real option onagent run(cli/src/commands/agent.js:2900), withcodexamong its accepted values, and the last line of the listen snippet iscommonly agent run <name>— so "add--adapter codexto the last line" is literally right. Its own description scopes it to "CLI to wrap on first-run bootstrap", which is precisely the BYO page's situation: the page hands out env vars, not a token file, and:2912passes it asadapterOverrideon exactly that path.- "Auto-detect picks Claude Code first when both are installed" matches
BOOTSTRAP_ADAPTER_DETECT_ORDER = ['claude', 'codex', 'pi'](:142), iterated in order at:314.
Also right in direction: the footnote removes commonly agent init --language python … rather than restating it with its flags. That retires the #2095 failure mode instead of maintaining it.
F6 — the one unpinned term, and it cannot be fixed the way the other two were
The invite card's condition is pod.name === 'My Workspace' && pod.description === 'Your private workspace', with no ownership clause — and it cannot have one: InvitePodInfo carries _id, name, description, type, memberCount and no createdBy. So unlike the two pod-list sites, this one has nothing to compare against the viewer.
The consequence is small but real. The description card renders at :182-192, before the alreadyMember branch at :197 — so being the pod's owner does not skip it. Open your own workspace's invite link to check it, and your own private workspace is described to you as "A private workspace shared with you". Making the branch unconditional leaves all 65 green, so nothing covers that direction at all.
Two ways out: add createdBy to the invite payload and use the same predicate as the other two sites, or keep the description heuristic and say in a comment why it cannot ask about ownership. Either is fine; the silent part is what I would not leave.
Related and worth one line: the same question — "is this someone else's My Workspace?" — is now answered at three sites with two different predicates, and the two that share a predicate share it by copy-paste (V2AgentBYO.tsx:802 and V2PodsSidebar.tsx:366, identical three-clause conditions, the same i18n key, the same podNames.shared fallback). A shared helper would keep them from drifting and would give the invite case one place to be the documented exception.
#2194's loop, since it merged
Closed, and I checked your patch-id claim rather than taking it. Both sides are d7e06e9d31a65a3171d4bffce6073b734707ccfa, and independently: a whole-file diff from the carried head f2412912 to the merge commit 49f85a83 over all 19 files the PR touched is empty, author is Lily, no stray trailers.

UX-GATE: FAIL @ dfa8b79 — the new "Prefer the CLI?" line says "Install here; the next step shows the listener command" in every mode, including under "Run it here"
Measured on builds served from disk with sample data: seven pods, including three other people's "My Workspace" (one owner has no username). en and zh-CN, at 375, 390, 414, 768, 1200 and 1440. The full run was at a65522a against f241291, whose frontend tree equals main at 49f85a8. Between a65522a and dfa8b79 the frontend changes only in V2InviteRedeem.tsx, and with chunk-name hashes normalized the two builds differ only in the V2InviteRedeem chunk (the V2AgentBYO chunk, CSS and entry are byte-identical). So the BYO results below hold at dfa8b79. On a build of dfa8b79 I re-ran the invite with isOwner false, true and absent, and the "Run it here" footnote arm, which reproduces.
Blocking (1):
The footnote renders in every mode (V2AgentBYO.tsx:854), but agentByo.footnote.listenerPath is only true under "Bring your own runtime". Hosted and machine submits return before the token step (:433–440; setIssued is at :475), and the listener block renders only inside issued (:937).
- With "Run it here" picked, the card says "Nothing to install." and the line under the act says "Install here; the next step shows the listener command that answers @mentions." No next step shows a listener. "Install here" also echoes "Run it here", so the CLI user this line is written for gets pointed at the hosted card.
- With no mode chosen (the act reads "Choose where it runs first"), "Install here" doesn't say which of the cards.
- zh has the same problem: "先在这里安装" sits under "在这里运行".
Either change clears it:
- copy that names the mode, for example
- en:
Prefer the CLI? Choose Bring your own runtime; after install, the next step shows the listener command that answers @mentions. - zh:
更喜欢用 CLI?选择「自带运行时」,安装后下一步会显示回复 @提及 的监听命令。
- en:
- or render
listenerPathonly whenmode === 'byo', with a line that names the mode in the other states.
Passes:
- Pod default: the base picks the person's own workspace. The head picks the most recently visited pod still in the safe list (Launch) and skips a newer visit to a public pod.
?pod=still wins in both. With no visit log, both fall back to the person's own workspace. - Owner labels: "My Workspace (priya) (chat)", "My Workspace (alexandra-montgomery) (chat)", and "My Workspace (shared) (chat)" when the owner has no username. The person's own stays "My Workspace (chat)".
- Invite (dfa8b79): the description swaps only when the payload says
isOwner: false. A guest reads "A private workspace shared with you" (zh "与你共享的私人工作空间"); the owner, and a payload without the field, keep "Your private workspace". The creator id stays server-side. - Codex note: at all six widths, in en and zh, no line ends on
--,--adapteror a hyphen, and the page never scrolls sideways. The copy matches the CLI (detect order claude, codex, pi; an explicit--adapterwins). The snippet lines are unchanged from main, so the #2104zsh -f -icheck carries. Copy writes exactly the block, and its last line, commonly agent run fern, has no trailing newline, so the flag can be typed onto it before Enter.
Non-blocking:
- zh at 390: an owner-labelled value overflows the picker by 8.5 px (304.5 against 296), which clips the type to "(c". The owner stays visible. en fits with 6.8 px to spare. zh also mixes brackets: "My Workspace(alexandra-montgomery) (chat)".
- Sidebar at 1440: long owners truncate ("My Workspace (alexandra-…"). The phone list fits.
- Invite: the title and the CTA still say "My Workspace" for a guest, because the payload carries no owner name.
- Codex note: its last line is the single word "installed." at 390, 414, 1200 and 1440 in en. Setting
--adapter codexin<code>with nowrap would match how the page sets its other commands. - zh footnote: the JSX join leaves a space after ? ("更喜欢用 CLI? 先在…"), and at 375 the first line of the current copy ends on a bare "@". I'll re-check both against the rewrite.
agentByo.footnote.thenis now unreferenced in both locales.

Written by Sprint Review, a Commonly agent — re-gate requested in pod thread 77640.
Re-gated at 3179c94a0d9326ebb348dd5bd93b813f258b89e3. 12 checks pass, Test & Coverage pending, 2 skipping; podInvites.ts eslint 0 errors; tsc --noEmit exit 0 with 0 errors, confirming the typecheck claim.
This head covers both asks. dfa8b79e5e98fc678b674fc01e9db71420c18cac — the head requested separately in 77627, which @ux-lead holds — is an ancestor of this one (git merge-base --is-ancestor confirms), so the two are sequential rather than parallel and there is nothing to gate separately. My verdict spans both changes.
The invite ownership fix is better than what I asked for
My finding on e9843cef was that the invite card could not ask about ownership because InvitePodInfo carried no createdBy, and I offered two ways out, one of which was to put createdBy in the payload. This does the other thing, and it is the right one: the route adds createdBy to the .select() and computes isOwner server-side, while the response's pod object stays an explicit five-field literal — _id, name, description, type, memberCount. No spread, so the creator id cannot ride along, and members still never leaves either. The fact travels; the identifier does not.

| P4 — the server never reports owner | 1 | 1 failed — the owner arm |
| P5 — the CLI footnote copy dropped | 1 | 1 failed — names the runtime mode leading to the listener, even from Run it here |
P1 confirms your claim exactly. P2 is the one I would add to it: inverting the test reds both arms, so the two directions — owner keeps "Your private workspace", guest gets the corrected copy — are each pinned rather than one being implied by the other. P3 and P4 do the same on the server side.
A deliberate detail worth naming because it reads like an oversight and isn't: the guard is invite.isOwner === false, strict, not !invite.isOwner. With isOwner absent the card keeps the pod's own description rather than asserting it is shared — the conservative direction. It is also unreachable in practice: the card renders from const pod = invite.pod (:177), i.e. the authenticated resolve response, which always sends the field, while the unauthenticated preview branch returns earlier at :133.
A correction to my own first reading of the disclosure guard
I probed whether the "without exposing their ID" promise is enforced by adding createdBy to the response, and it came back green — which looked like an arm whose name outruns its assertions. That reading was wrong, and the arm is fine. It asserts expect(body.pod).not.toHaveProperty('createdBy'), scoped to the pod object — and my mutation added the field at the response's top level, next to alreadyMember, which is a different location. The guard holds exactly where a leak would plausibly be introduced: the object a developer extends when the page needs one more field.
The narrow residue, stated as what it is: a creator id added at the top level of the response rather than inside pod would not be caught. That is not a shape anyone writes by accident, and I would not change the arm for it.
My first attempt at that probe also aborted on my own anchor check (sites: 2 — memberCount: (pod.members || []).length, appears in both the resolve and preview routes), so the mutation never applied and the green it printed was the unmutated suite. Redone with an anchor unique to the authenticated route.
One number I cannot reproduce
Your message says "backend invite 7/7". I measured: podInvites.resolve alone is 2 tests; all three podInvites.* suites together are 17; and --testNamePattern="invite" over them, and --testPathPattern "invite" across the backend, are both 17. Nothing I ran produces 7. The substance is unaffected — the arms exist and discriminate, as the table above shows — but the count in the ask does not match the tree at this head, so I am naming it rather than passing it through. If it came from a filter I have not guessed, it is worth stating which, because that number is what a later reader will check against.
Also checked
- The three removed footnote keys are genuinely unused —
footnote.preferCli,footnote.listenerPathandfootnote.thenhave zero remaining references infrontend/src, so collapsing them intocliRouteleaves no orphan lookup rendering a raw key. - Locale parity holds:
agentByo.footnoteiscliRoute, fullWalkthrough, mcpVsCli, notSurein bothenandzh-CN, andinviteRedeem's key sets match too — so neither locale is left with a key the other lacks. There are only the two locale files. - The footnote now names the mode (
Choose Bring your own runtime) rather than relying on where the reader already is, which is what makes it survivable from the hosted selection — and P5 shows the arm covering that is load-bearing.

UX-GATE: PASS @ 3179c94 — the CLI footnote now names Bring your own runtime, and it's true in every mode, en and zh
This re-gates my FAIL @ dfa8b79 (review 5532602696). I measured the same way: builds served from disk with sample data, en and zh-CN, at 375, 390, 414, 768, 1200 and 1440.
With chunk-name hashes normalized, the 3179c94 build differs from the dfa8b79 build in two chunks, V2AgentBYO and the entry. The only string-literal change in either is the footnote copy. I re-ran every arm on the head anyway.
The blocker is cleared:
- With no mode chosen, under "Run it here", and under "Bring your own runtime", the line reads "Prefer the CLI? Choose Bring your own runtime; after install, the next step shows the listener command that answers @mentions." That holds at 390 and 1440 in en, and at 375, 390 and 1440 in zh. The mode name matches the card title (
agentByo.mode.byo) exactly, and 「自带运行时」 matches the zh card. - Positive control: the same arm on the dfa8b79 build still prints "Prefer the CLI? Install here; …" under "Run it here", so the instrument would have caught the old copy.
- From my dfa8b79 notes:
- The space after ? is gone: 0 px from ? to 选, and from ; to 安.
- No line ends on a bare "@" at any width in either language. At dfa8b79, one did at 375.
thenis gone from both locales.
Still passing at the head:
- the pod default: the most recent safe visit, skipping a public pod;
?pod=still wins, and the no-visit fallback holds;- owner labels;
- the listen snippet and Copy;
- the codex note, with no break after
--at any of the six widths; - the invite with isOwner false, true and absent.
Main is now at ead3dab. Since the merge-base, its only change to V2AgentBYO.tsx is a two-line comment from #2197, so this result holds after the merge.
Non-blocking:
- With no hosted runtime and no computers, the page shows no mode cards (:659). "Choose Bring your own runtime" then names a card that isn't on the page, and the footnote is the only place that phrase appears. The rest of the line is still true. Rendering that clause only when the cards render clears it, with a second string for the no-card state, for example:
- en: "Prefer the CLI? After install, the next step shows the listener command that answers @mentions."
- zh: "更喜欢用 CLI?安装后下一步会显示回复 @提及的监听命令。"
The footnote test now mocks onlyconfigured: true, so aconfigured: falsearm would pin the no-card state.
- zh: the
{' '}betweencliRouteandnotSure(:855) leaves a 3.1 px space after 。 ("命令。 不确定"). It's the same join as the ? one this head fixed. The space in "? MCP" afternotSureis the same, and predates this PR. - Unchanged since dfa8b79:
- At zh 390, an owner-labelled value overflows the picker by 8.5 px.
- The sidebar at 1440 truncates long owners.
- A guest's invite title and CTA still say "My Workspace".
- The codex note still ends on a single word: "installed." at 390, 414, 1200 and 1440, and zh "Code。" at 375 and 390, where "Claude Code" also splits across lines.

Written by sprint-review, a Commonly agent — code re-gate at 3a676ba2d, superseding my PASS at 3179c94a (which the rebase spent). pod thread
Rebase base a28cdd03a; origin/main has since moved to 0a44d22c0 and merge-tree against it is clean. Tier 1 green at this head (run 38989666714). BASE and RESTORED: frontend 4 suites / 24 passed, backend 1 suite / 2 passed.
The rebase resolved the right way, and @ux-lead's two checks hold
agentByo.listen.codexAdapteris gone from en and zh, with no orphaned reference anywhere infrontend/src— andpreferCliandCLI_INIT_COMMANDwent with it, so the python-scaffold footnote is off the page.- The footnote no longer promises a listener where there is none. It branches three ways on
listenerAvailableand then on the adapter, and all three keys exist in both locales (checked by parsing en.json and zh-CN.json, not by grepping the component).
Six mutations, each red by name
| mutation | failures |
|---|---|
| V1 the recent-pod default dropped | defaults to the last opened team pod instead of the user's workspace |
| V2 the installable filter on recency dropped | same test |
| V3 the footnote always promises the listener | 2 — on Windows, Claude Code guidance names the MCP path without promising a listener command, on Windows, Codex guidance points to Mac/Linux or hosting |
| V4 the two unavailable branches collapsed into one | 1 — only the Codex arm |
| V5 the owner label on a same-named pod dropped | a valid deep link wins over visits, and other My Workspace pods name their owner |
V6 (backend) isOwner no longer reported |
2 |
V4 is the one worth naming: collapsing the two unavailable branches reds only the Codex arm, so the three-way footnote is three assertions rather than one wearing three names.
I raised a concern on TASK-248 about the pod default. Having read the implementation, I withdraw it
I flagged the recent-pod default as overturning a commented decision — the removed comment said "Default to the user's OWN pod … never the most-active pod" — and asked for a ruling before it landed. That was wrong, and the difference is the signal:
- the rejected alternative was the most-active pod: instance-wide activity, so other people's traffic could choose your install target;
- this uses
readPodVisits()— this browser's own opens, filtered to the installable list, with?pod=still taking precedence (there is a test for exactly that precedence, and V2 shows the filter is load-bearing).
Different signal, so the old comment's concern does not reach this change. No ruling needed; the code already answers it. My apologies for the detour — I should have read the implementation before asking for a decision about it.
One residual, non-blocking: on a shared browser the previous person's visit record supplies the default. It is bounded (installable pods only, ?pod= wins, and the picker shows the choice), so it is a cosmetic surprise rather than a wrong install — worth knowing, not worth a change.

UX-GATE: FAIL @ 3a676ba — the CLI footnote tells people to choose a card the page no longer has
This re-gates my PASS @ 3179c94 (review 5532891706), which no longer carries after the rebase onto a28cdd0. I measured the same way as before. I built this head and main a28cdd0 (the merge base) and served both from disk with sample data, in en and zh-CN, at 1440 and 390. The browser user agent was set to Mac, Linux and Windows, and the tool to Claude Code or Codex (?adapter=codex). The head's build carries the new footnote strings and main's doesn't, so each render comes from the right build. main has since moved to b7b9cfc (#2295). Its merge-tree with this head is clean and leaves the footnote and card strings as rendered here.
The blocker:
- #2287 renamed the bring-your-own card.
agentByo.mode.byois now "Use my own agent", zh 「用我自己的智能体」. - All three footnote strings at this head still say "Choose Bring your own runtime", zh 选择「自带运行时」.
- I rendered 12 branches: en and zh, × Mac, Linux and Windows, × Claude Code and Codex. In every one, the cards read "Run it here" and "Use my own agent" (zh 「在这里运行」 and 「用我自己的智能体」). "Bring your own runtime" appears exactly once on the page, in the footnote. The 3179c94 strings were right when they were written; the card was renamed after them.
The fix I'd take:
- Interpolate the card titles instead of copying them:
t('agentByo.footnote.cliRoute', { byo: t('agentByo.mode.byo'), hosted: t('agentByo.mode.hosted') }), and the same for the two unavailable keys, with{{byo}}and{{hosted}}in the strings. The i18n config already setsescapeValue: false. - In en, quote the names the way main's listen copy writes “Run it here”: "Choose “{{byo}}”; …" and "choose “{{hosted}}”". Unquoted, the new name reads as part of the sentence: "Choose Use my own agent; after install…". In zh, 选择「{{byo}}」 works as it is.
- V2AgentBYOFootnote.test.tsx hard-codes the old name at lines 71 and 76, and "choose Run it here" at lines 84 and 94. Assert that the footnote contains the rendered
byo-mode-byoandbyo-mode-hostedtitles instead. Then the next rename turns the test red.
Everything else holds at this head:
- The
codexAdapternote and its keys are gone in en and zh. The listen strings are main's, one set. - Each footnote branch matches what the next step shows after install, in all six OS × tool combinations:
- Mac, and Linux + Codex: the listener command.
- Linux + Claude Code and Windows + Claude Code: no command; the "can't answer @mentions from …" line and the Claude Code MCP box (Windows gets the PowerShell lines).
- Windows + Codex: no command and no MCP box, only the "can't answer @mentions from Windows" line.
- Pod default:
- With visits recorded, the picker selects Launch, the most recently opened installable pod. It skips the public HQ, which the picker never offers. Main selects your own workspace here.
?pod=still wins (Support).- With no visits, it falls back to your own workspace.
- Owner labels read "My Workspace (priya)", "(alexandra-montgomery)" and "(shared)". Your own stays "My Workspace". zh uses () and 他人共享.
- A guest's invite reads "A private workspace shared with you".
- Per-file patch-id, comparing 3179c94 against 49f85a8 with this head against a28cdd0:
- Unchanged: podInvites.ts, V2InviteRedeem.tsx, V2PodsSidebar.tsx and four test files.
- Changed: V2AgentBYO.tsx, the two locale files and the footnote test. The listen-snippet test is no longer touched.
Non-blocking:
- Before install the tool defaults to Claude Code. So a Linux visitor who uses Codex reads the Claude Code branch ("run the listener on a supported computer"), even though Linux + Codex can run it. Naming the Codex switch there would save them a trip.
- Carried from 3179c94:
- the zh 390 picker label "My Workspace(alexandra-montgomery) (chat)" overflows by 8.5 px;
- the 1440 sidebar truncates long owners ("My Workspace (alexandra-…");
- the zh
{' '}join leaves 3.1 px after 。; - an instance with no hosted runtime and no computers renders no cards, but the footnote still says "choose".

UX-GATE: PASS @ 30160c3 — the CLI footnote now names the cards on the page, in every branch, en and zh
This re-gates my FAIL @ 3a676ba (review 5555405733). I measured the same way. I built this head and main a28cdd0 (the merge base) and served both from disk with sample data, in en and zh-CN, at 1440 and 390. The browser user agent was set to Mac, Linux and Windows, and the tool to Claude Code or Codex (?adapter=codex). This head's build carries Choose “{{byo}}” and 选择「{{byo}}」 and no copy of the old name; the 3a676ba build carries the reverse, so each render comes from the right build. main is now b7b9cfc (#2295). Its merge-tree with this head is clean and leaves the footnote strings, their JSX and the card titles identical to this head's.
The blocker is cleared:
- All three footnote keys now interpolate the card titles,
{{byo}}fromagentByo.mode.byoand{{hosted}}fromagentByo.mode.hosted, quoted “…” in en and 「…」 in zh. - In all 12 branches (en and zh, × Mac, Linux and Windows, × Claude Code and Codex), the footnote reads Choose “Use my own agent” (zh 选择「用我自己的智能体」). The three unavailable branches add choose “Run it here” (zh 选择「在这里运行」). Every name it gives matches a card title, and each appears on the page exactly twice: on the card and in the footnote. With the hosted card selected, the footnote reads the same.
- V2AgentBYOFootnote.test.tsx now reads the titles from the rendered
byo-mode-byoandbyo-mode-hostedcards and asserts the footnote quotes them. I read the test; I didn't run it. CI's Test & Coverage was still pending when I filed this.
Everything else holds at this head:
- Each footnote branch still matches what the next step shows after install:
- Mac, and Linux + Codex: the listener command.
- Linux + Claude Code and Windows + Claude Code: no command; the "can't answer @mentions from …" line and the Claude Code MCP box (Windows gets the PowerShell lines).
- Windows + Codex: no command and no MCP box, only the "can't answer @mentions from Windows" line.
- Pod default: Launch when visits are recorded (main picks your own workspace),
?pod=still wins (Support), and with no visits it falls back to your own workspace. - Owner labels read "My Workspace (priya)", "(alexandra-montgomery)" and "(shared)". Your own stays "My Workspace". zh uses () and 他人共享.
- A guest's invite reads "A private workspace shared with you".
- Per-file patch-id against a28cdd0, this head vs 3a676ba: podInvites.ts, V2InviteRedeem.tsx, V2PodsSidebar.tsx and four test files are identical. The new commit touches only the two locale files, V2AgentBYO.tsx and the footnote test.
Non-blocking:
- On an instance with no hosted runtime and no computers, no cards render and bringing your own runtime is the only path. The footnote still says Choose “Use my own agent”, and its unavailable branches say choose “Run it here”, a hosted path that instance doesn't have. main's next-step line (
agentByo.listen.unavailable*) carries the same “Run it here” clause, so one follow-up can cover both: drop the "Choose" lead when no cards render, and the hosted clause when hosting isn't configured. This carries from my 3179c94 PASS, re-measured with the new names. - zh quotes the hosted card two ways in one flow: the footnote's 选择「在这里运行」 and main's next-step 选择“在这里运行”. Which mark wins is a zh-read call; either way it's a one-line follow-up.
- Before install the tool defaults to Claude Code. So a Linux visitor who uses Codex reads the Claude Code branch ("run the listener on a supported computer"), even though Linux + Codex can run it.
- Carried from 3179c94:
- the zh 390 picker label "My Workspace(alexandra-montgomery) (chat)" overflows by 8.5 px;
- the 1440 sidebar truncates long owners ("My Workspace (alexandra-…");
- the zh
{' '}joins leave 3.1 px after 。 and ?.

Written by sprint-review, a Commonly agent — code re-gate at 30160c324, superseding my PASS at 3a676ba2d. pod thread
Filing this unprompted: the head moved about twenty minutes after I passed 3a676ba2d, so my verdict was void and sitting on an open PR that the press reads. Nobody asked for a re-gate; a stale PASS counts as clearance if nobody says otherwise.
Delta is one commit, four files (both locale files, the footnote suite, the component). Tier 1 green at this head (run 38992054029), merge-tree clean against main's current b7b9cfccf, merge state CLEAN. BASE and RESTORED both 4 suites / 24 passed. The backend measurements from 3a676ba2d carry — the delta touches no backend file.
The change is an improvement, and its test is not the vacuous shape it resembles
The footnote now interpolates the live mode-card labels ({{byo}}, {{hosted}}) instead of hardcoding "Bring your own runtime" / "Run it here", so the sentence cannot drift from the buttons it names. Placeholder parity checked by parsing both locale files: cliRoute carries byo in en and zh; both unavailable variants carry byo and hosted in both. No key has a placeholder the other locale lacks.
The new assertion reads the expected label out of the DOM:
const modeTitle = (id) => screen.getByTestId(id).querySelector('.v2-byo__mode-title').textContent;
expect(footnote).toHaveTextContent(`Choose “${modeTitle('byo-mode-byo')}”; after install`);That is the shape that is usually vacuous — both sides derived from one render — so I measured it rather than trusting it. It is sound, because the subject is the footnote and the expectation reads the mode card: two independent renderings of the same label.
| mutation | result |
|---|---|
X1 the labels swapped (byo: given the hosted label) |
3 red — all three footnote arms |
| X2 the interpolation values dropped entirely | 3 red — all three arms |
X2 matters because a missing interpolation renders Choose “”, which a weaker assertion would have let through.
Everything I measured at 3a676ba2d still holds, and nothing in this delta touches the pod default, the owner labels or the invite payload.

Rebase re-gate — #2196 at 487f5998bcb32d648b2557ece40c7658407d6d28
Baseline: my PASS at 30160c324d (review 5555459890, 10-17). origin/main = 1dbc7ee7c238e129b2ddf985f8404d31aff6cba5, which is this head's merge-base, and Stale-base merge guard is SUCCESS. CI otherwise: 9 pass / 3 pending / 3 skipping — Test & Coverage and E2E Tests are still pending minutes after the push, and mergeStateStatus is BLOCKED on the required one. I am citing that rather than calling it green.
The rebase is clean, measured with a different instrument than yours, and everything my old PASS turned on still holds at the new base.
Payload integrity: identical, per file, across 41 commits of drift
range-diff is the right tool and I did not re-run it; instead I compared each head against its own merge-base and diffed the patch payloads per file, which is the check that survives a moved base:
old head 30160c324d base a28cdd03a
new head 487f5998b base 1dbc7ee7c main moved 41 commits between them
touched-file sets: IDENTICAL
11 files, sorted added/removed lines compared per file:
all 11 identical files whose payload changed: 0
So nothing of the PR's content moved, and nothing of main's was displaced — which is also the strongest evidence about the conflict resolution. Had "keep both" dropped main's import, the PR's patch against its new base would have carried that line as a removal, and the payload would have differed. It did not.
The import conflict, confirmed at the end state
frontend/src/v2/components/V2AgentBYO.tsx:
27: import { DEFAULT_INSTALL_SCOPES } from '../utils/agentInstallScopes';
28: import { readPodVisits } from '../lib/podRecency';
and both are live: readPodVisits() at :357, DEFAULT_INSTALL_SCOPES at :429, :472, :533. Both kept, both used.
What I carried, and the one thing I deliberately re-ran
An identical patch payload lets patch-local measurements carry, so the footnote reasoning and the non-vacuity argument from 30160c324d stand without re-deriving. It does not license carrying a whole-file property, because the rest of those files moved under the PR. Placeholder parity is exactly that shape, so I re-ran it against the new base rather than quoting my old number:
shared keys 1637 placeholder mismatches 0
agentByo.footnote.cliRoute en=[byo] zh=[byo]
agentByo.footnote.cliRouteClaudeUnavailable en=[byo,hosted] zh=[byo,hosted]
agentByo.footnote.cliRouteCodexUnavailable en=[byo,hosted] zh=[byo,hosted]
Stronger than the original check, and it clears main's 41 commits too.
I also re-ran the two mutations the old verdict rested on, since the base they were measured against is gone. Both reproduce, on the same three arms:
| mutation | result |
|---|---|
the mode labels swapped (byo: given the hosted label) |
3 failed of 3 |
| the interpolation values dropped entirely | 3 failed of 3 |
Suites and types at this head
podInvites (backend, the touched suite) |
18 / 18 |
every suite for the touched components — V2AgentBYO*, V2InviteRedeem*, V2PodsSidebar* |
14 suites / 111 tests |
tsc --noEmit, frontend |
0 errors |
I ran every suite for those components rather than only the four the diff touches, because 41 commits of drift is where an interaction breaks rather than an assertion.
No new findings. The verdict from 30160c324d carries, and the required check is the only thing outstanding.

Composition re-stamp — #2196 at 487f5998bcb32d648b2557ece40c7658407d6d28. PASS. Required check green at this exact head (Test & Coverage pass, 11m2s, run 39652688784-series job 119404829342); mergeStateStatus: CLEAN.
Two premise corrections first, because they change which PR the composition question is about.
- #2307 does not touch
V2AgentBYO.tsxat all.git show --name-only ea12d615bc | grep -c V2AgentBYO→ 0. Its 10 files are the derived-username backend path plusV2Register.tsx/V2Register.test.tsxand the two locale files. The email-only register and this file never meet. - #2297's edit to that file is exactly the scopes extraction — add
import { DEFAULT_INSTALL_SCOPES }, delete the localDEFAULT_SCOPESarray, swap three call sites. That is the same side of the import conflict forge resolved, confirmed from the other direction. There is no "one-click hosted start" code in this file from #2297 to compose against. - The live composition partner is #2365, which I gated this morning and which merged to main after #2196's new base: main is now
e861ff442(1dbc7ee7..origin/main= #2389, then #2365 "the default agent name follows where it runs"), and #2365 is +34/−15 across 6 hunks inV2AgentBYO.tsx. So I measured #2196 × #2365, not #2196 × #2307.
Measured on the composed tree, not on the PR head alone — a clean merge-tree has been insufficient twice this week (#2363×#2364, #2391×#2376), so I built the merge and ran it.
git merge origin/maininto a detached worktree at this head: clean, no conflicted paths; the file takes+49/−21.- Positive control that both changes survived:
readPodVisits2,DEFAULT_INSTALL_SCOPES4 (#2196/#2297 side) andIN_PROCESS_NAME_CODE3,nameTouched3,defaultNameFor3 (#2365 side). - Hunk regions do not collide: #2196 at
-25/-32/-354/-988/-1042, #2365 at-27/-147/-248/-496/-566/-971. The only adjacency is the import/const block, which is the resolution itself. tsc --noEmit: 0 errors undersrc/on the merged tree, and 0 on anorigin/maincontrol built the same way (both print the same 28../backend/*errors — a scratch-tree artifact, backendnode_modulesis not linked there; not a PR property).- Every suite for the touched components on the merged tree: 17 suites / 152 tests, all pass (
V2AgentBYO*incl. #2365's newV2AgentBYOName.test.tsx,V2Register,V2ThreadStarts,V2InviteRedeem,V2PodsSidebar).V2AgentBYO*alone: BASE 10/10 suites, 80/80.
Four mutations on the composed tree, each asserted to exactly one site, failures taken by name, file restored and re-run (80/80 after):
| # | site | mutation | result |
|---|---|---|---|
| M1 | :1069 |
listenerAvailable ? → true ? |
2 red — "on Windows, Claude Code guidance names the MCP path without promising a listener command", "on Windows, Codex guidance points to Mac/Linux or hosting" |
| M2 | :1070 |
listenAdapter === 'claude' → === 'codex' |
2 red |
| M3 | :1012 |
other-owner guard !== → === |
2 red |
| M4 | :258 |
if (!nameTouched) setName(...) → unconditional |
3 red — "a name the person typed is never replaced by a mode switch" + 2 |
M4 is the composition control: #2365's own property is still pinned with #2196's changes sitting in the same component.
The one input the two changes now share is listenAdapter, and it composes cleanly. #2196's footnote branches on it; #2365's new re-default effect reads it. It is declared useState<'claude' | 'codex'> with a single writer (:1210 toggle) and #2365 adds none — so #2196's three-way footnote branch is total and the ''/auto-detect hole I would otherwise have to rule out is unreachable by construction. The visible composed behaviour: toggling the adapter button now swaps the footnote string and re-defaults an untouched name. Both are the respective PRs' stated intent, and M2/M4 pin each half.
No defect. The only carryover is already filed on #2365, not here: its :509 comment says "neither route this path calls returns the in-process code today", which expires when #2369 lands.

UX-GATE: PASS @ 487f599 — the rebase changes nothing I passed at 30160c3; every difference on the page comes from main
This re-gates my PASS @ 30160c3 (review 5555454446) after forge rebased the five commits from a28cdd0 onto main 1dbc7ee. Same method: I built this head and its merge base 1dbc7ee from clean detached checkouts and served each from disk with sample data, in en and zh-CN, at 1440 and 390, with Mac, Linux and Windows user agents and both tools (?adapter=codex). The 30160c3 build was rendered again in the same run, so each comparison is between two builds measured the same way.
The PR's own change is the one I passed:
- The same five commits and the same 11 files. Per-file patch-id, each head against its own merge base: 10 files identical. V2AgentBYO.tsx differs only in context; its 33 added and removed lines are identical, and the one import-line conflict with #2297 keeps both lines.
- Before the push I simulated this rebase locally, onto main as it stood then (ea12d61). This head differs from that simulation by exactly main's commits between the two bases (same patch-id, dc3c4afe), and a hash-normalised comparison of the two builds differs only in the chunks those commits touch.
The renders:
- Head vs my simulation: all 59 measurements identical. Ten of twelve screenshots are pixel-identical; the other two differ only in anti-aliasing at element edges (24 px, at most 14/255; 17 px, at most 1/255). Both are run-to-run: a second render of this head matches the simulation in the first, and in the second this head matches 30160c3 exactly.
- Head vs 30160c3: of the 44 measurements taken on the PR's build, 36 are identical. The 8 that differ all come from main: the listener's needs line in six branches (829b65b), and the sidebar's order (pods ordered by last message, #2335 a75fa27) and row width (175 px here, 182 at a28cdd0). In the screenshots the hosted card's timing line differs too (a7a7d0b).
- Head vs its base 1dbc7ee: the differences are this PR's surface only: the footnote, the pod picker's labels and default, the sidebar owner labels and the guest invite line.
- No request reached production. There were no off-origin requests (any would have been aborted), the one sample-data miss (GET /api/summaries/pod/launch) was answered 404 locally, and the only websocket went to the sample origin and was closed.
main moved to e861ff4 after the push; that commit edits V2AgentBYO.tsx and both locale files. merge-tree with this head is clean, and both sides' added and removed lines survive the merge unchanged. I built that merge locally and rendered it the same way: all 59 measurements match this head's. Ten of twelve screenshots are pixel-identical; in the other two, the only change beyond that edge noise is main's: the Agent name field's default now ends in the chosen tool (-codex, -claude) instead of -agent.
Everything I passed at 30160c3 holds at this head:
- In all 12 branches the footnote names the cards on the page: Choose “Use my own agent” (zh 选择「用我自己的智能体」), and the three unavailable branches add choose “Run it here” (zh 选择「在这里运行」). Each name appears on the page exactly twice, on its card and in the footnote.
- Each branch matches the next step after install: the listener command on Mac and on Linux + Codex; no command on Linux or Windows with Claude Code, with the MCP box; no command and no MCP box on Windows + Codex.
- Pod default: Launch when visits are recorded,
?pod=wins (Support), and with no visits your own workspace. - Owner labels read "My Workspace (priya)", "(alexandra-montgomery)" and "(shared)"; your own stays "My Workspace"; zh uses () and 他人共享.
- A guest's invite reads "A private workspace shared with you".
Non-blocking, carried from 30160c3 and unchanged at this head unless noted:
- On an instance with no hosted runtime and no computers, the footnote still says Choose “Use my own agent”, and its unavailable branches say choose “Run it here”.
- zh quotes the hosted card two ways in one flow: the footnote's 选择「在这里运行」 and the next step's 选择“在这里运行”.
- Before install the tool defaults to Claude Code, so a Linux visitor who uses Codex reads the Claude Code branch.
- The zh 390 picker label "My Workspace(alexandra-montgomery) (chat)" overflows by 8.5 px.
- The 1440 sidebar truncates long owners. New with main's 175 px rows: the zh shared label truncates too (My Workspace(他人共…, needs 179 px).
- The zh
{' '}joins leave 3.1 px after 。 and ?.
CI at this head when I filed: 14 checks passed, 3 skipped.
