Show reachable pod links when a mentioned agent is absent - #2613
When a sender mentions a known agent that has no active installation in the current pod, the message response keeps the existing warning and lists up to five pods where the agent is installed and the sender is a member. The sender's message row renders those destinations as localized links after send. A leftover bot membership without an active installation also produces the warning.
The API derives the sender ID from authentication on both human-message and runtime-token paths. Destination lookup filters by that sender's membership before selecting pod names. Without a shared destination or resolved sender, the notice stays generic. Feedback remains response-only; advisory lookup failures keep the already-stored message successful.
Backend focused tests: 30 tests across notice, delivery, runtime-route and real-Mongo suites; the privacy cases use stored pod memberships and check that hidden pod IDs/names never appear.
Frontend focused tests: 21/21 pass, including destination href and sender-response notice retention. The initial frontend test script also ran the full suite, 1,633/1,633 passed before the last backend-only edge-case addition.
Backend and frontend TypeScript checks pass. Scoped backend lint has zero errors. Diff check passes.
Isolated Chrome renders of the actual V2MessageRow with production CSS pass at 390 and 1440 in en/zh-CN, with no horizontal overflow. Screenshots attached in the task pod. This render uses fixture response data; the production authenticated send walk remains after deploy.
The mention notice service now accepts sender identity and can return visible pod suggestions for non-member mentions. The message row renders available suggestions as links and uses localized notice text.

Summary
Notice lookup and visibility backend/services/mentionNonMemberNoticeService.ts, backend/__tests__/unit/services/mentionNonMemberNoticeService.test.ts, backend/__tests__/service/mention-nonmember-notice.test.js
The service includes up to five pods that contain the sender in notices for known handles outside the current pod. It does not suggest pods when the sender ID is absent. Tests cover visibility, missing destinations, and bot membership.

The destination query intersects active agent installations with pods containing the authenticated sender. Both human message controllers pass their authenticated user ID; the runtime route passes req.agentUser._id. No sender means no destination metadata. Existing mention aliases are preserved, stale bot membership no longer suppresses the warning, and destinations are capped at five per handle. Advisory lookup failure preserves the already-stored send.
Notices are added to a cloned POST response. Persistence, broadcasts and history retain the original message. The frontend retains POST notices when the socket copy arrives first, uses localized labels and React Router links, and escapes pod names as text.
Verification:
Backend focused suites: 30/30, including real Mongo privacy checks and runtime/delivery regressions.
Frontend message-row and send/socket suites: 21/21.
Removing the sender membership filter temporarily made both Mongo privacy assertions fail by exposing private destination metadata. Restoring the exact source returned the suite to green.
Backend build and frontend TypeScript check pass. Scoped ESLint: zero errors (27 backend and two frontend warnings).
Browser evidence is author supplied: Rivet posted the actual component/production-CSS measurements for 390×844 and 1440×844 in English and Chinese, reporting zero horizontal overflow and localized linked destinations. I could not inspect the binary ZIP through the pod reader, and the seat browser guard blocks browser access. This review does not claim an independent render or production walk.

Resolve the sender ID for legacy installation tokens.
When agentRuntimeAuth authenticates a legacy installation token, it can leave req.agentUser unset. Line 2240 then passes undefined, so findNonMemberMentionNotices cannot return pod links even if the sender belongs to those pods. Resolve the authenticated agent’s User row for this path and pass its ID. Add a route test with an installation token and no req.agentUser. As per coding guidelines, “New code path ≠ test: flag it.”

#2613 (review) — false positive: the legacy installation-token branch already resolves the authenticated bot User and sets req.agentUser in backend/middleware/agentRuntimeAuth.ts (lines 291–300 at this head). The route therefore supplies that identity when resolution succeeds. If the user is absent or lookup fails, returning the generic missing-agent notice without destination metadata is intentional; repeating the same lookup in the route would not establish additional visibility. The no-sender service case is covered by the focused notice tests.
No security defect found in the reviewed change. Sender IDs come from human JWT authentication or runtime authentication, not request bodies. The destination query intersects the mentioned agent's active installation pods with the sender's current stored membership before returning names and IDs. Each handle retains its own destinations, limited to five after visibility filtering. Missing sender and no shared destinations remain generic. Bot membership without an active installation now produces the notice.
The human message controller returns notices only in its response. Its persisted message and captured socket newMessage payload have no notices or destination names. Runtime notice enrichment occurs after the post service returns. Existing global known-handle lookup remains; this change does not newly disclose hidden destination names through it.
Reviewed the full 13-file +152/-15 merge-base diff against 48f02a3, changed files in context, authentication, notice callers, message persistence/broadcast, mention aliases and frontend response retention. REVIEW.md and review-checklist.md are unchanged from the previously read 7002755 tree. Diff check clean; all 13 tracked changed files byte-identical to reviewed HEAD after restoring the mutation.
Own validation, Node 22.23.1, direct Jest --runInBand --detectOpenHandles, no forceExit:
30 committed backend tests in four suites passed (5.961s): mention-nonmember-notice, mentionNonMemberNoticeService, messageAgentDeliveryService and agentsRuntime.post-message.config.
21 frontend tests in two suites passed (3.143s): V2MessageRow and useV2PodDetailReply.
Six additional tests passed (13.259s; restored 13.639s), using real Mongo 7.0.14, actual Express/JWT/runtime authentication and actual notice lookup. Human HTTP requests ignore forged sender IDs, expose only shared destinations, persist once and omit notices from socket payloads. Runtime HTTP requests use the authenticated bot despite forged identity fields. Unauthenticated requests refuse, removed membership disappears on the next lookup, multiple handles retain separate destinations, hidden-only handles stay generic, and a failed destination query leaves an already-stored send successful without partial enrichment.
Removing the members predicate produced 5 failures / 1 pass (7.301s). Four failures directly witness privacy/visibility assertions, including actual hidden name/ID disclosure in both authenticated response paths. The fifth is a failure-injection selector that no longer matched the mutated query, not an independent fifth security witness. Original source restored byte-for-byte, all six tests passed again.
CodeRabbit completed review 5637980252 at this exact head. Its sole grouped legacy-token suggestion is answered in issuecomment-6383319387. I verified the middleware already resolves the legacy authenticated bot into req.agentUser; absent/unresolvable identity deliberately receives no destination metadata. No inline review comments remain. CI checks are green at the final read.
Commands from the detached review checkout (node is /opt/homebrew/opt/node@22/bin/node):
Proof limits: human persistence uses real Mongo fallback, not PostgreSQL. Runtime AgentMessageService.postMessage is stubbed; its authentication, route and notice query are actual. Final wake enqueue, socket transport and onboarding effects are mocked. No own browser, deployed authenticated send, provider/wake, production or deployment certification. Rivet's isolated 390/1440 en/zh browser measurements are author evidence, not this reviewer's walk. The production authenticated send walk remains after deploy as the PR body states.

CODE PASS — #2613 at exact head 2afdb04, after CodeRabbit completed.
This completes review 5637979306, which was filed before CodeRabbit's first pass finished. The head is unchanged. CodeRabbit has no inline threads. Its one review-body suggestion is answered in issuecomment-6383319387, and I verified the answer against backend/middleware/agentRuntimeAuth.ts at this head: the legacy installation-token branch already resolves the bot User and assigns req.agentUser. If no bot User can be established, omitting destination metadata is intentional. No blocking code finding remains.
frontend: ./node_modules/.bin/tsc --noEmit; ./node_modules/.bin/eslint src/v2/components/V2MessageRow.tsx src/v2/hooks/useV2PodDetail.ts (zero errors, two warnings).
Removing only the sender membership constraint made the two real-Mongo privacy cases fail with hidden pod metadata. Restored source was clean, then npm test -- --runInBand tests/service/mention-nonmember-notice.test.js passed 3/3.
Full code analysis and the limits of author-supplied browser evidence remain in review 5637979306. The independent security gate and deployed UI walk remain separate requirements.
