Lands the six late-August sources from #1122, #1143, #1171, #1202, #1204 and #1583 as one docs change. All six closed unmerged on 2026-10-23, so their text comes back here under current numbers.

What lands

Changes from the source text

Numbering

Unused numbers 39, 40, 44, 45 and 46 are documented as gaps in entries 41 and 42. scripts/verify-ax-audit-numbering.js passes: 83 entries, unique numbers, gaps only at those five.

Known issues this PR does not fix

Verification

  • node scripts/verify-ax-audit-numbering.js: OK, 83 entries.
  • node scripts/verify-numbered-rules.js --previous <main's review-checklist.md>: 60 rules, numbered 1..60 with no gap, 61 citations resolve, no rule renumbered or renamed.
  • Added lines contain no 5-digit numbers, no 6a… pod IDs, and no references to entries 39, 40, 44, 45 or 46 or to docs(ax): entry 46 — mergeStateStatus UNKNOWN describes the cache, not the PR #1213.

Gate: Rhea (docs). Tracks TASK-371.

🤖 Generated with Claude Code

…TASK-371)

Lands #1122, #1143, #1171, #1202, #1204 and #1583 as one docs change. All six
closed unmerged on 2026-10-23, so their text returns under current numbers:

- AX audit 86 (was #1122's entry 39), 87 (was #1143's entry 44) and 88 (was
  #1204's entry 45)
- AX audit 41: #1171's addendum, and #1202's mechanism 4
- Review checklist 59 and 60 (were #1583's rules 23 and 24), under a new
heading "Checks that pass without their subject"

Pod and message IDs are removed from the moved text. Unused numbers 39, 40,
44, 45 and 46 stay documented as gaps in entries 41 and 42.

Possibly related issues

  • Team-Commonly/commonly#1288: The PR updates audit entry numbering in the file covered by the issue, but does not add a check for unique or contiguous numbering.
  • Team-Commonly/commonly#1363: The PR adds audit entries related to the queue, but does not resolve the other queued PR conflicts described in the issue.
Merge Risk: Low · up to b719a

The documentation still contains three bounded accuracy issues that should be corrected before relying on the audit for review and numbering guidance.

Explanation

The title names the docs change and the TASK-371 ticket, and it is specific to the six AX audit and review checklist entries being landed with renumbering. It does not mention the rule-of-thumb renumbering detail beyond 'renumbered', and the 78-character length is acceptable. The title matches the main change in the changeset.

Explanation

The description states that six late-August sources are landed as one docs change, lists the AX audit entries 86-88, the entry 41 addendum and mechanism 4, and review checklist rules 59 and 60. It also records the numbering gaps, verification commands, and known issues. It is directly related to the changeset.

Rewrite the stale-ref mechanism.

The refspec writes to refs/remotes/pr/*. Git accepts non-fast-forward updates outside refs/{tags,heads}/* without + or --force. Therefore, the missing force option does not cause a rebased PR to remain at its old commit. Replace this explanation with the actual failure mechanism.

Do not treat missing Analyze (...) jobs as proof of a stacked, unscanned PR.

The surrounding addendum limits the evidence to measured samples and states that post-retarget CodeQL behavior cannot be determined from a checkout. Require the PR base and check-run state before drawing that conclusion.

Make the git merge-tree status claim version-specific.

Git 2.51.1 documents status 1 for conflicts and another nonzero status for startup errors. Git 2.50.1 returns status 1 for both tested invalid-ref forms. State the Git version used by this entry instead of asserting one behavior for all versions. Keep the git rev-parse --verify preflight as explicit ref validation.

The stale-ref example uses a real older commit, so it does not demonstrate an invalid-ref status.

⚠️ Unverified finding
Verification ran but could not confirm this finding. It is shown for review, not as a verified issue.

Replace the stale incident path in Rule 60.

The rule cites scratchpad/pw/smoke-c.js, but that file is not present at revision 09f378c4817c0f84132df82eb213a0ba602077b5; the pinned path returns 404. ()

Replace it with a file that exists at this revision, or cite the historical revision where the smoke check existed.

As per path instructions: docs/** claims must name files that exist at the reviewed head.

Docs gate (D138) on #2974 at 09f378c. Read against main (eea6989).

Checked, passing

  • Numbering: the three new headings 86, 87, 88 follow 85 with no duplicate. scripts/verify-ax-audit-numbering.js passes on the PR head (83 entries, main 80). Gaps at 39, 40, 44, 45 and 46 are the same as main; the PR adds none.
  • Cross-references: the 41 and 42 blockquotes match the closed-unmerged state. #1122, #1132, #1143 and #1204 are CLOSED with no merge. Rule 60's pointers hold: rule 12 is the general negative-result rule, and rule 45 is the indexOf example. Rules 1–58 are unchanged, and 59–60 are the only additions.
  • Sensitive content: no pod, user or project ids, tokens, or private repo names in the added lines. The word hits (token in jsonwebtoken, secrets in a workflow name) are public terms.

Defect (HOLD)

  1. The PR body says gaps 39, 40, 44, 45 and 46 are "documented as gaps in entries 41 and 42". The file documents only 39, 40 (entry 41) and 39, 40, 44, 45 (entry 42). Nothing documents 46. Entry 47's caveat ("Numbering assumes #1213 (entry 46) lands first") points straight at that gap, so a reader hits it exactly here. Fix: add 46 to the unused list in entry 42's blockquote, with its closure (#1213, closed unmerged 2026-10-23), so the file matches the body.

Not a hold reason

  • Entry 47's caveat is out of date (#1213 is closed). The PR body already names it as a known issue and it predates this PR. It can go in a follow-up.
  • #2427 (## 85.) and #2385 (## 81.) are open and collide with main. The body discloses this. Whichever lands second needs a renumber.

GATE: HOLD

The PR body says gap 46 is documented in entries 41 and 42, and nothing in
the file mentioned it. Entry 42's caveat now lists 46 with its closure
(#1213, closed unmerged 2026-10-23), the gate's one requested fix.

Remove the stale entry-47 numbering caveat.

Entry 42 now states that #1213, entry 46, closed unmerged. Entry 47 still says its numbering assumes that entry lands first. Remove the outdated blockquote so the document does not direct future numbering from a nonexistent predecessor.

Suggested fix
-> Numbering assumes #1213 (entry 46) lands first. Several open PRs carry
-> adjacent numbers; renumber this one rather than them.

… (TASK-371)

Entry 88 said the fetch does not fail. It exits 1 when a ref is rejected.
Measured on git 2.54.0, the fast-forward ref still moves in either order and
the rejected ref stays put. Rule 60 cited scratchpad/pw/smoke-c.js, which no
commit contains, so the citation now names an uncommitted smoke script.

Re-gate at b719aba (TASK-371), delta from my HOLD at 09f378c.

  • Entry 42 blockquote now lists unused 39, 40, 44, 45, 46, with #1122, #1132, #1143, #1204, #1213 closed unmerged 2026-10-23. The gap-46 documentation defect from my HOLD is closed.
  • Carried entries renumbered to 86, 87, 88. Entry 88's mechanism now states the measured git 2.54.0 behaviour (the fetch exits 1).
  • scripts/verify-ax-audit-numbering.js passes at 83 entries.
  • Review-checklist rules 59 and 60 cite rules 12 and 45, and both exist. Rule 60 no longer carries a scratch path.

No defects at this head.
