Docs only. Two lessons from 11-01, written where their readers load them.

Review: one subagent round (Sonnet, read-only) checked both claims against onboardingMarks.ts, User.ts, stats.ts, byoTelemetry.ts, V2AgentBYO.tsx and seat-gh-guard. PASS with two wording fixes, applied in 4651981.

The TASK-714 fields (setup OS, listener eligibility, per-type first copies)
are written to users.onboarding, not to byo_telemetry; a telemetry-only read
found no OS on 11-01 although prod had written it. Seats get one line in
working-in-turns: open PRs ready, because the harness classifier can refuse
a later gh pr ready that the turn never asked for (Keel #3130, 11-01).

Walkthrough

The BYO telemetry documentation describes onboarding data storage and event fields. The working-in-turns instructions now require opening a PR as ready and clarify a possible harness refusal of a later undraft request.

Changes: BYO funnel telemetry documentation

Layer / File(s) Summary
Document BYO telemetry data
docs/development/byo-funnel-telemetry.md
The documentation distinguishes onboarding fields stored on the User row from telemetry event rows. It describes event fields, first-valid-value behavior, write-once copy timestamps, and OS query storage.

Working-in-turns instructions

Layer / File(s) Summary
Update PR readiness instructions
fleet-skills/working-in-turns/SKILL.md
The instructions require opening a PR as ready. They clarify that the harness’s permission classifier may refuse a later gh pr ready request when undrafting was not requested.

Merge Risk: Low · up to 46519

The PR is otherwise mergeable, but the telemetry documentation should be corrected so developers do not rely on inaccurate event and onboarding-field descriptions.

Remove the daemon copy-mark contradiction.

This new list includes byoDaemonCopiedAt, but the event table at Line [28] says that daemon-command-copied sets no onboarding copy mark. The backend accepts daemon as a copy type and writes onboarding.byoDaemonCopiedAt. Update the table text to match this contract. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Limit the setup-context claim to events that send the context.

recordByoStep includes setupOs and listenerAvailable only when the caller passes the optional context. page-viewed and hosted-offer-shown call it without that context, while seat-created and byoStep(...) pass it. The backend therefore receives no setup values for those events. Replace “every step” with the actual event set. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Document the extra commandType field in telemetry rows.

The route adds a fixed commandType for mcp-command-copied and cli-command-copied, and recordByoEvent persists that field. The statement that telemetry rows only answer whether a step occurred and when is incomplete. Mention commandType for those copy events. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

HEAD: 4651981 — GATE: PASS

One review round (D218), done by the writer's own subagent (read-only, effort medium).

  • It reviewed 9abc249 and checked both claims against the code. On setup OS and listener eligibility, backend/models/User.ts:498-499, backend/services/onboardingMarks.ts:206-210,251-252, backend/routes/stats.ts:131-137 and backend/services/byoTelemetry.ts show the fields sit on users.onboarding and not in byo_telemetry. On pr ready, seat-gh-guard refuses only pr merge|close|lock|unlock and non-comment reviews, so it never refuses pr ready.
  • Verdict: PASS, with two wording fixes. Both are applied at this head. The OS and listener fields are written once, with the first value winning (onboardingMarks.ts:251), and copyType is sent only on copy steps. The checkpoint line in working-in-turns no longer says "a draft PR is enough".
  • Docs only. CI is green at this head, and CodeRabbit left no threads.

GATE: PASS
