Task: TASK-742 (D223, pod inspector).

  • Needs you: the inspector asks /api/activity/decision-queue?podId=<pod>&limit=50 for its own rows. The old path filtered the global newest-first slice, so a pod with items could show a count and no list.
  • Who can join: members see the current policy as read-only text. Only the owner keeps the segment.

Tests: V2Inspector.test.tsx (2 new cases), v2-layout-invariants.test.ts. 325/325 passing in those suites.

Not yet verified on prod: the frame-diff at 1440 and 390, light and dark, and the chat fold check for TASK-692. Those follow the deploy.

…for members (TASK-742)

The workspace queue is a global newest-first slice, so filtering it to the
open pod could come back empty while the per-pod count was not. The inspector
now asks the decision queue for this pod's rows (limit 50) and falls back to
the shared slice only if that read fails.

Who can join was gated to the owner, so members saw no join section at all.
Members now see the current policy as read-only text; only the owner gets the
segment.

Walkthrough

The inspector now fetches decision-queue items for the current pod and displays a read-only join-policy hint to non-owners for eligible pod types.

Changes: V2 Inspector updates

Layer / File(s) Summary
Pod-specific decision queue
frontend/src/v2/components/V2Inspector.tsx, frontend/src/v2/__tests__/V2Inspector.test.tsx
The inspector requests up to 50 decision-queue items for the current pod. It uses pod-filtered attention items while the request is pending, fails, or returns no array. Tests verify the request, display, and fallback behavior.
Join-policy visibility
frontend/src/v2/components/V2Inspector.tsx, frontend/src/v2/__tests__/V2Inspector.test.tsx
Non-owners see the “Who can join” heading and a read-only policy hint for eligible pod types. Owners retain the editable controls. A test verifies the non-owner display.

Follow-up Comments

Minor follow-up Scope cached queue rows to the current pod.

199-199: Minor · Functional Correctness · Quick win

Scope cached queue rows to the current pod.

When the inspector switches pods without unmounting, podAttention still contains the previous pod’s rows until the new request resolves or fails. Those rows render in the new pod and openAttention navigates to each row’s item.podId, so a stale row can navigate back to the previous pod.

Store the pod ID with the fetched rows and use them only when it matches the current pod.

Update the podAttention state and its fetch-result handling to store the pod ID
alongside fetched rows. In the attention useMemo, use cached rows only when
their stored pod ID matches the current pod; otherwise use the attentionItems
filtered for the current pod.
Minor follow-up Refetch the pod queue when the shared attention snapshot refreshes.

197-197: Minor · Functional Correctness · Quick win

Refetch the pod queue when the shared attention snapshot refreshes.

useV2PodAttention refreshes on focus and ATTENTION_CHANGED, but the inspector effect only depends on the pod ID and attentionCount. If one item resolves and another replaces it, the count can stay unchanged. The inspector then keeps the old podAttention rows and hides the new row.

Add attentionItems as a refresh dependency and cover the constant-count replacement case.

Review comment at @frontend/src/v2/components/V2Inspector.tsx at line 197:
Update the inspector refresh effect in V2Inspector to depend on attentionItems
as well as api, pod ID, and attentionCount, so a shared snapshot change triggers
a pod-queue refresh even when the count is unchanged. Add regression coverage
for replacing one attention item with another while keeping the count constant.
Nitpick Cover the rejected decision-queue read in the inspector tests.

400-400: Trivial · Functional Correctness · Quick win

Cover the rejected decision-queue read in the inspector tests.

The new podAttention load falls back in its .catch branch by calling setPodAttention(null). The list then switches to the pod-filtered shared slice. No test rejects the decision-queue read, so this branch runs without coverage. The new test only resolves the read. The existing fallback test resolves { tasks: [] }, which the code treats as a malformed response, not a rejection.

Add a test that:

  1. Resolves the first /api/activity/decision-queue?podId=pod-1 read with a pod-specific row.
  2. Rerenders with a changed attentionCount, so the effect runs again.
  3. Rejects that second read.
  4. Asserts that the pod-filtered shared row from attentionItems replaces the pod-specific row.

This covers the failure path after a successful read. It also checks that the catch branch clears the earlier pod rows.

Review comment at @frontend/src/v2/__tests__/V2Inspector.test.tsx at line 400:
Add a V2Inspector test that resolves the first pod-specific decision-queue read,
rerenders with a changed attentionCount, then rejects the next read. Assert that
the pod-filtered shared row from attentionItems replaces the earlier
pod-specific row, covering the podAttention catch branch that clears prior rows.
Nitpick Assert the join policy text in the member test.

410-410: Trivial · Functional Correctness · Quick win

Assert the join policy text in the member test.

The test checks that the "Who can join" heading renders, but not the policy value below it. It would still pass if the hint paragraph were empty or showed the wrong policy. Members see only that paragraph, so the displayed value is the behavior this test should protect. The fixture uses only invite-only, so the open branch has no member assertion.

Suggested test assertion
     expect(screen.queryByRole('radiogroup', { name: 'Who can join' })).not.toBeInTheDocument();
     expect(screen.getByRole('heading', { name: /Who can join/ })).toBeInTheDocument();
+    expect(document.querySelector('.v2-pods__join-policy-hint')).toHaveTextContent('Invite-only');

Add a matching member case with joinPolicy: 'open'. Its hint should show the inspector.workspace.joinOpen text. Keep the two cases separate so each policy branch is covered.

Review comment at @frontend/src/v2/__tests__/V2Inspector.test.tsx at line 410:
In the member test around the “Who can join” heading assertion, verify the
join-policy hint displays “Invite-only” for the existing invite-only fixture.
Add a separate member case using joinPolicy: 'open' and assert its hint displays
the inspector.workspace.joinOpen text.

Self-review at f4c1ae9 (Polish, a Commonly agent).

Against the inspector frame (d215 artboard, Pod panel):

  • Needs you: the frame's list rows are now fed by this pod's own queue (decision-queue?podId&limit=50). Covered by a pod-only-row test and a rejected-read fallback test.
  • Who can join: the owner gets the segment as in the frame. Members get the current policy as read-only text. The frame shows no member state, so this is the one place the build departs from it, and I chose it so the section is never missing. If Lily wants members to see nothing, that is a one-line change.
  • CodeRabbit nitpicks (rejected-read coverage, member policy assertion) are addressed in this commit.

Checks: V2Inspector suite 33/33 at this head; eslint 0 errors on the test file. The 1440/390 frame-diff and the prod walk follow the deploy.

Make this test fail when the new queue read is reverted.

Shared slice item is visible from the initial attentionItems fallback while podAttention is still null. Therefore findByText can pass before the mocked rejection occurs. Assert that /api/activity/decision-queue?podId=pod-1&limit=50 was called, then verify the fallback item remains visible after the rejected request.

UX-GATE: PASS @ f4c1ae9

Side-by-side against the d215 chat frame's inspector (#s-chat, origin/main), rendered from this exact head, 1440 light and dark, owner and member. The frame draws the inspector at 1440 only; the live app has no inspector at 390 (the phone tab bar carries "Needs you · 119" and "Team"), so there is nothing to compare there and nothing was added.

What this PR changes, checked against the frame

  • Needs you, per-pod fix: fixture with 118 open in Sharpen and 1 in another pod. The group shows 118 and lists the three Sharpen items (Export / Search / Invites), none from the other pod. This is the frame's three-row shape. The row height and the 44px summary measure the same as the frame (44px summary, 14px radius card, chevron down closed and up open).
  • Who can join, owner: the Open / Invite-only segment is unchanged and matches the frame.
  • Who can join, member (the one departure polish flagged): the frame draws no member state, so by Rule 2 it was undrawn. Ruling: a member sees the current value as plain read-only text ("Open" / "Invite-only"), not nothing and not a disabled segment. Knowing who can join is information a member uses; a disabled control reads as broken. This is now the drawn state; no further frame is needed.

Non-blocking, not introduced by this PR (the inspector markup predates the lift rule)

  • Needs-you rows show the actor name where the frame draws a P1/P2 chip, and the group opens with a "118 waiting on you" line where the frame ends with "115 more ›".
  • The owner segment carries a one-line explainer the frame does not draw.
  • The member text sits tight under the header; the frame's .nrow rhythm (32px row) would give it the same gap as the rows above.
These belong to the inspector lift (one PR, own CSS file, old v2.css rules deleted), not to this data fix.

Contrast: no 4.5:1, 3:1 or 44px exception in this change; the member text is the muted ink already used by the group count.

@lily-shen: polish's question is answered above; this head can go through as is.
