This finishes #3188 (sign-in) and #3192 (sign-up and recovery), the two open d215 artboard PRs, rebased as one onto main.

The two original commits are kept as they were. The only new work is the rebase. Main had added the agent room and DM frames (#3195) and the first-run frames to the same file, and all three conflicts were additive:

  • CSS: main's first-run rules, then the shared auth primitives (.authpage, .authcard, .fl, .alrt, .or).
  • Table of contents: main's list, with "Sign in" and "Sign up" before "Dark mode".
  • Sections: #s-firstrun closes, then #s-signin and #s-signup follow.

What the frames draw (from the original PR bodies):

  • Sign in. One page for /login and /v2/login, at 1440 and 390: default, wrong password, and the invite-only OAuth bounce. The provider keys sit above the form, forgot-password sits on the password label, and the subtitle line is dropped.
  • Sign up and recovery. Sign up (/register and /v2/register as one page), Invitation required, Check your email, /verify-email (this replaces the navy MUI card, the last dark flash on auth), and Forgot and Reset password, each with its states.

Checked. I rendered the artboard in a browser:

  • No page errors.
  • Every section main has is still there, plus s-signin and s-signup, and <section> tags balance (27/27).
  • Frames go from 60 to 94. The only repeated data-surface ids are the ones main already repeats.
  • The sign-in frames render as described.

Docs only, with no product code.

Auth card on the grey canvas at 1440, edge to edge at 390. Providers above
the form, forgot-password on the password label, one alert row for errors.
Default, wrong-password and invite-only frames; data-state skips measuring.

One page for /register + /v2/register, then invitation-required, the
check-your-email states, /verify-email, forgot-password and reset-password,
each at 1440 and 390 with its error and sent states. Reuses the sign-in
.authpage/.authcard/.fl/.alrt/.or; adds only .sub, .hint, .legal, .help and
an optional marker. Dark follows the tokens.

  • Team-Commonly/commonly#3188: Adds the sign-in artboard that this PR combines with sign-up and recovery designs.
  • Team-Commonly/commonly#2541: Changes invitation-code handling in registration and OAuth flows, which relates to the invitation-required states in this artboard.
  • Team-Commonly/commonly#3260: Changes the invitation-code field in the invite-only registration state, which also appears in this artboard.
Merge Risk: Low · up to 7e65e

This docs-only PR is broadly mergeable, but correcting the remaining product copy and artboard states will make the authentication designs accurate and usable.

Full details: Title check

Explanation

The title names the main change: adding sign-in, sign-up, and account recovery frames to the d215 design artboard. The changeset is a docs-only update to docs/design/artboards/d215/index.html that adds these sections, so the title matches the primary change. The title uses the conventional docs(design) prefix and is specific enough for history scanning.

Full details: Description check

Explanation

The description states that it combines two open d215 artboard PRs (sign-in and sign-up/recovery) rebased onto main. It describes the conflict resolution in the CSS, table of contents, and sections. It lists the frames drawn (sign-in states, sign-up, invitation-required, check-your-email, verify-email, forgot and reset password) and the browser checks run. It is directly related to the changeset.

Review of PR #3275 at head 7e65e56

The rebase lost nothing. The diff against main is 52 insertions and 1 deletion, and the one deletion is the nav.toc line, which was replaced on purpose. Every line both original commits added (a7a6ca6 for sign-in, 6f3af94 for sign-up and recovery) appears verbatim, including the .authpage/.authcard/.fl/.alrt/.or CSS and the lg-google symbol, which is defined once.

Structure:

  • <style> opens and closes once.
  • <section> tags balance at 27/27. s-firstrun closes before s-signin, and s-signin → s-signup → s-dark follow in order.
  • The TOC has 15 hrefs, none duplicated, and each points at an existing id.
  • No conflict markers.
  • Every custom property the auth CSS uses is defined in the file.

Pre-existing, not from this PR: an HTML parser reports 4 figure nesting errors inside s-firstrun, and main has the same 4.

Unverified here: the visual render. The author rendered it with no page errors.

GATE: PASS

Follow-up Comments

Minor follow-up Clarify where the agent runs.

Clarify where the agent runs.

“Run an agent here” implies that Commonly runs the agent. Describe the hosted agent as connecting to Commonly instead.

As per coding guidelines: “Commonly is a rendezvous, not a runtime.”

Review comment at @docs/design/artboards/d215/index.html at line 1275:
Update the invitation-code help text in both signup states shown in the design
so it says users can connect a hosted agent to Commonly, rather than implying
Commonly runs the agent. Keep the surrounding optional-code guidance unchanged.

Minor follow-up Use “Signed in, unverified” only as the login-failure fallback.

1277-1277: Minor · Functional Correctness · Quick win

Use “Signed in, unverified” only as the login-failure fallback.

After registration succeeds, V2Register calls login(email.trim(), password) and navigates to /v2 when login succeeds. The artboard is shown only when that follow-up login fails, so it is not the normal registration-success state.

Review comment at @docs/design/artboards/d215/index.html at line 1277:
Update the “Signed in, unverified” artboard state to represent only the fallback
after registration succeeds but the follow-up login in V2Register fails; keep
successful-login navigation to /v2 separate from this state.
Minor follow-up Stack the artboards on narrow screens.

1280-1280: Minor · Functional Correctness · Quick win

Stack the artboards on narrow screens.

At max-width: 640px, the inline multi-column declarations remain active. The new .rowa grids can therefore keep two, three, or four columns, which makes the 390px artboards too narrow to read. Override the inline declarations and add a narrow-screen regression check.

Suggested CSS fix
 @media (max-width: 640px) {
   .rules { grid-template-columns: minmax(0, 1fr); }
   .row2 { grid-template-columns: minmax(0, 1fr); }
   .row2 figure { max-width: 340px; }
   .pair--phone { grid-template-columns: minmax(0, 1fr); }
   .pair--phone figure { max-width: 340px; }
+  .rowa { grid-template-columns: minmax(0, 1fr) !important; }
   .shead h2 { font-size: 25px; }
   .nums { margin-left: 0; }
 }

Review comment at @docs/design/artboards/d215/index.html at line 1280:
At narrow viewport widths, the inline grid-template-columns on .rowa prevents
the artboards from stacking and makes them unreadable. Update the existing
max-width: 640px media query to override .rowa’s inline grid declaration with a
single-column layout, and add a narrow-screen regression check for the stacked
artboards.
