fix(first-run): the setup dialog, lifted from the d215 frames - #3282
This is the setup dialog that walks a new person through connecting an agent ("Your first five minutes"), lifted to its d215 frames: firstrun-waiting, firstrun-connected and firstrun-error.
Surface. The pop surface at 16px with --v2-shadow-pop, over --v2-scrim, replacing the bordered card on a hard-coded slate scrim. Mono eyebrow (no uppercase). Display title at 28px, 24px on a phone, balanced over two lines.
Steps. 12px cards with a soft inset edge. Marks are ringed, and a done mark is accent-tinted with a check glyph instead of a text "✓".
Buttons. Setup takes the key material, Say hello the fill (the card keeps its one filled action). Both are 32px at radius 10, and 44px on a phone.
Phone. A sheet on the bottom edge (place-items: end center), with Skip as a 44px target.
Behaviour, as drawn:
Waiting carries the presence dot, and reduced motion drops its pulse.
Step 2 keeps its title once connected and says "Connected" once, with a check. Before, the title became "Connected" and the status repeated "✓ Connected". firstRun.steps.start.connectedStatus is removed from en and zh-CN; no string was added or changed.
Say hello shows from the start, disabled until the agent connects, so the last step reads as one click away. While the room opens it is aria-busy.
A failed hello is role="alert" with an alert glyph.
Proof
frame-diff against a local build on prod data (read-only). The dialog is opened with v2.firstRun.started=1, and the connection status is served as a fixture, waiting and then connected.

The verdicts still read OVER only because of the Scout welcome behind the dialog: it renders at the top on this base, and #3280 bottom-anchors it. No dialog region is unmatched.
Tests:
A new invariant: bottom sheet and 44px targets on a phone, balanced title, the pulse and its reduced-motion stop.
The ink contract now accepts the Signal fill gradient (--v2-fill-a), which is the ink material, and still bans cobalt.
The hero test checks "Connected" once under the step's own title.
CI=true npx jest src/v2 src/i18n: 187 suites, 2,400 tests pass. tsc --noEmit is clean.
The dialog that walks a new person through connecting an agent now matches
its four frames: the pop surface at 16px over the shell scrim, a mono
eyebrow, the display title balanced over two lines, step cards with ringed
marks (accent when done, a check glyph instead of a text tick), and the
key and fill buttons. On a phone it is a sheet on the bottom edge with
44px targets.
Waiting carries the presence dot. Step 2 keeps its title once connected
and says Connected once, with a check, instead of the title and a
"✓ Connected" status saying it twice. Say hello shows from the start,
disabled until the agent connects, so the last step reads as one click
away. A failed hello is an alert.

The first-run guide now separates connection status from its step title and always renders the “Say hello” action. The action reflects connection and room-opening state. The overlay, controls, and phone layout also use updated styling.

Connection status and action frontend/src/i18n/locales/en.json, frontend/src/i18n/locales/zh-CN.json, frontend/src/v2/components/V2FirstRunHero.tsx, frontend/src/v2/__tests__/V2FirstRunHero.test.tsx
The connected locale labels no longer include a checkmark. The connection step keeps a fixed title and shows its status separately. “Say hello” remains visible, is disabled until the agent is connected and available, and exposes its busy state while a room opens. Tests check the status and action states.
Overlay presentation and responsive layout frontend/src/v2/v2.css, frontend/src/v2/__tests__/v2-layout-invariants.test.ts
The dialog and controls use updated tokens, status indicators, and action styles. On phones, the dialog aligns at the bottom and the title, skip control, and actions use touch-oriented sizing. Tests check layout, control styling, and reduced-motion behavior.
Issue 2192: The PR changes the “Say hello” opening state and adds aria-busy, but the summaries do not show a change to the dismissal state after navigation.
Issue 732: The PR presents the first-run guide as a dialog over a scrim, with a bottom-aligned dialog on phones. This addresses the issue’s request for a popup or modal presentation.

Review at 6560f81. No defects. The two touched suites pass, 356 of 356, and 3 tests fail with v2.css and the hero reverted to main.
Say hello before connection.disabled={openingRoom || !(status?.connected && status.connectedAgent)}, so it can't be enabled without an agent, and sayHello still guards !agent. aria-busy is only true while it is disabled. The reason is conveyed by the polite status just above it ("Waiting for your agent to connect…", then "Connected"), and the frame draws the same disabled state.
connectedStatus removal. No consumer of the key or of the literal "✓ Connected" is left in frontend/src, frontend/e2e, /e2e or the backend tests.
CSS.:disabled and [aria-busy="true"] are both (0,3,1), and busy comes later. The v2-presence-pulse keyframe loads through V2App's unconditional chat-pane import. Dark theme flips the fill light and --v2-on-fill dark. The phone rules sit in the 760 block after the base rules.
Ink contract.--v2-fill-a/b is the ink gradient that primitives.css already uses, and the cobalt ban is unchanged. The '\n.v2-root button.v2-first-run__hello {' probe hits the standalone rule.
nit, tests: with the button drawn from the start, the two Say hello … toBeInTheDocument() checks (the connected case and the started-latch case) pass even if the poll never connects. Assert toBeEnabled() there, and pin disabled while waiting.
nit:docs/audits/landing-faq-firstrun-claims.md:53 still cites start.connectedStatus. It's a dated audit, so it's harmless.
nit: hello's edge is a 1px border where the frame uses an inset shadow. There's no visible difference at a fixed height.

Re-stamp at e6158f3. The only change since 6560f81 is in V2FirstRunHero.test.tsx, and it closes the test nit. The waiting-to-connected test and the unconnected case now assert Say hello is disabled while waiting. The connected case and the started-latch test wait for it to be enabled. All 15 tests in the file pass, and setting the guard back to disabled={openingRoom} fails those 2 tests. Nothing outside the test file changed, so the earlier component and CSS findings hold.
The existing rejection test already checks that the retry is enabled. It does not check role="alert". The successful request resolves immediately, so it does not test aria-busy="true" while the request is pending. Add a deferred request test that asserts the pending busy state, then asserts the alert role and enabled retry after rejection.

Review comment at @frontend/src/v2/components/V2FirstRunHero.tsx at line 306:
Add a deferred-request test for the request flow associated with the `aria-busy`
prop in `V2FirstRunHero`; assert that the hero exposes `aria-busy="true"` while
the request is pending, then verify rejection renders an alert and leaves the
retry enabled.
