The invite link is the first Commonly page most invited people see, and it was the last auth-flow page still on the old centred card with an 18px title. It now uses the sign-in card, so following a link and then signing up stays in one page family.

The page (drawn first as the s-invite frames in the d215 artboard, then built to them):

  • Brand row, then the pod: its seeded mark (the same tile it has in the sidebar) beside a mono "You’re invited to" and the pod name as the 28px title.
  • Signed out: the member line, Sign up to join, and Log in under it. Both carry ?next= back to the link, as before.
  • Signed in: the description (if there is one), the member count, and Join . A member gets Go to pod.
  • A dead link: the alert row (V2AuthNotice) and one plain key. Join errors use the same alert row.
  • Loading: the brand row and one status line.

Copy: the anonymous title "You've been invited to {{pod}}" splits into the eyebrow plus the pod name (invitedTo → invitedEyebrow; zh 邀请你加入). "Go to pod →" loses its arrow.

Removed: the old .v2-invite-page / .v2-invite-card* page rules (7) and their type-floor allowance. The modal's .v2-invite-card__cta is untouched.

Checked

  • jest: the existing redeem tests plus 3 new layout tests (signed out, dead link, signed in / member); i18n and type-floor suites pass. tsc is clean.
  • frame-diff (signed out, the preview served as a fixture): 1440 layout 0.038 / structure 0, 390 layout 0.172 / structure 0.429, no repaint, light and dark.

Review of #3309 at 8ab96f1, after a first pass at 1d9072c.

Behaviour is unchanged apart from layout: the anonymous preview fetch, ?next= on sign-up and log-in, the authenticated resolve, handleJoin with its dm_membership_refused mapping, alreadyMember, and the shared-workspace description fix all keep their logic. Every state renders inside the auth card: loading (a status line), unavailable signed out and signed in (title, alert row, one plain key), preview, join, member, and a join error (alert row above the key). Each resolved state has one h1.

The removed .v2-invite-page / .v2-invite-card* page rules have no remaining references in frontend/src or docs. The modal's .v2-invite-card__cta, its --secondary variant and the .v2-invite-link-row overrides are intact. invitedTo has no remaining reference. The zh strings follow the glossary. The new classes don't touch the card's padding, width or margin, so the 480px full-bleed rules still apply.

Since the first pass:

  • The title margin rule now outranks the shared stack rule on specificity, not on the order the lazy chunk's stylesheet loads.
  • A new test covers the signed-in dead link and a failed join, both with the alert row inside the card.

Kept as is: the dead-link key is a button that navigates, because every v2-login__submit style is scoped to button. Widening those selectors to links would be a separate change.

CI=true npx jest src/v2/__tests__/V2InviteRedeem: 2 suites, 7 tests pass.

Keep long descriptions inside the card.

.v2-login__card--stack uses an implicit grid column, and .v2-invite__description has no wrapping rule. An unbroken description can widen that track. The 100%-width join button can then extend beyond the card and viewport.

Suggested fix
 .v2-login__card--stack {
   display: grid;
+  grid-template-columns: minmax(0, 1fr);
   gap: 16px;
 }
 .v2-invite__description {
   margin: 0;
   font-size: 14px;
   line-height: 21px;
   color: var(--v2-text-secondary);
+  overflow-wrap: anywhere;
 }

The current jsdom render test checks DOM structure only. It will not detect this overflow. Add CSS invariant assertions or a real-browser test at a narrow viewport with a long unbroken description.

Add the invite stylesheet to the type-floor scan.

v2-type-floors.test.ts builds its CSS input from v2.css and four lifted surface sheets. V2InviteRedeem.css is not in that list, so a font-size regression in the invite rules would not fail this suite. The current .v2-invite__eyebrow rule already meets the floor, so this is a coverage gap, not a present violation. Update the header comment that lists the scanned sheets.

CodeRabbit's review-body items, both fixed in fa4e744:

  • Other comments (a long unbroken description can widen the card): .v2-login__card--stack now sets grid-template-columns: minmax(0, 1fr), so the stack column can't grow past the card, and .v2-invite__description breaks with overflow-wrap: anywhere. Both are pinned by the presence test.
  • Nitpick (type-floor scan misses the new sheet): V2InviteRedeem.css is in the scanned list now, and the header comment names it. The scan stays green with it included.

Re-review at fa4e744.

The delta from 8ab96f1 is sound.

  • .v2-login__card--stack now sets grid-template-columns: minmax(0, 1fr). This is safe for the other auth screens that share the class: sign-in, sign-up, forgot and reset password, invite-required and verify-email. The card has a definite width (width: 100%; max-width: 400px), so the old implicit auto column already stretched to the card's width whenever the content fit. Layout only changes when a row's min-content is wider than the card. Before, that row widened the shared column and pushed every row past the card. Now only the offending row overflows. I grepped the .v2-login* rules and found no nowrap and no fixed or min width that relied on widening the column. The display: contents form still feeds its rows into the same single column.
  • The new overflow-wrap: anywhere on .v2-invite__description, the added V2InviteRedeem.css scan in v2-type-floors.test.ts, and the new presence test in v2-layout-invariants.test.ts are all correct. The type-floors test passes with the new sheet included.

Blocking:

  1. frontend/src/v2/__tests__/V2Login.test.tsx:768 fails at this head. The failing test is "V2 routing › logged-out Community visitors reach the public invite preview", and it still asserts findByText(/invited to Commonly HQ/). The PR's first commit (1d9072c) removed inviteRedeem.invitedTo. The page now renders a "You’re invited to" eyebrow plus a separate h1 holding the pod name, so that sentence no longer exists anywhere. The test is green on main and red on this branch. The break came with the first commit, not this delta. My first review missed it because I searched for the i18n key, not for the text it rendered. Fix: assert the new structure, for example await screen.findByRole('heading', { level: 1, name: 'Commonly HQ' }), optionally adding screen.getByText('You’re invited to').

Run: CI=true npx jest src/v2/__tests__/V2InviteRedeem src/v2/__tests__/v2-type-floors.test.ts src/v2/__tests__/v2-layout-invariants.test.ts src/v2/__tests__/V2Login src/v2/__tests__/V2Register with Node 22: 8 suites, 1 failed; 479 tests, 1 failed (the one above).

Re-review of the whole PR at 237b5bd.

The HOLD at fa4e744 is resolved. frontend/src/v2/__tests__/V2Login.test.tsx:768 now checks the page as it renders: an h1 named "Commonly HQ" and the "You’re invited to" label. That test passes.

This time I searched for rendered text across the whole repo, not just for i18n keys. Searches covered frontend/src, e2e/, scripts/ (the first-user walk) and the workflows:

  • Nothing outside the locale files still expects the old copy: "been invited", "invited to ", "Go to pod →", "受邀加入" and "前往 Pod →". The remaining hits are code comments in backend/routes/podInvites.ts and the header of V2InviteRedeem.tsx; nothing asserts on them.
  • No Playwright spec in e2e/ opens /v2/invite/:token. The first-user walk checks the invite preview API only, never the page.
  • Every inviteRedeem.* key the frontend uses exists in both en.json and zh-CN.json. Plural keys were checked through their _one/_other forms.
  • The removed .v2-invite-page and .v2-invite-card page classes appear only in the new test's negative assertion and in a comment in the type-floors allowlist. The modal's .v2-invite-card__cta, its --secondary variant and the .v2-invite-link-row rules are all still there.

My earlier findings still stand: the behaviour of every state is unchanged, there is one h1 per resolved state, failures use the alert row, and the 480px full-bleed rules are untouched. The shared minmax(0, 1fr) column is safe for every auth screen that uses .v2-login__card--stack. One non-blocking nit remains: the dead-link key on the anonymous dead-link page is still a button, not a link. That is consistent with the button-only v2-login__submit styles.

Tests, with Node 22: I ran CI=true npx jest src/v2 src/i18n src/components, a wider set than the 186 v2 suites already run at this head. 202 suites ran and 200 passed. 2499 of 2502 tests passed. The three failures were in src/components/AppsManagement.test.tsx and src/components/admin/__tests__/GlobalIntegrations.tokenField.test.tsx. This PR touches neither file, and both pass on their own (2 suites, 7 tests), so the failures came from running the whole set at once, not from this change.

Re-review at 7131806, the rebase of 237b5bd onto main after #3308 merged.

The rebase changed nothing except the conflict resolution. Its parent is the current origin/main. git range-diff 237b5bdc~4..237b5bdc origin/main..7131806b shows commits 1, 2 and 4 identical (=). Commit 3 differs only in the context of the v2-layout-invariants.test.ts hunk: the invite wrap test now sits after #3308's profile phone test, plus one blank line. Both tests are present and unchanged, and the invite test still precedes the /cli/authorize test.

Both locale files parse. In en and zh-CN, inviteRedeem.invitedEyebrow is "You’re invited to" and "邀请你加入". inviteRedeem.goToPod is "Go to pod" and "前往 Pod". inviteRedeem.invitedTo is gone from both. Main's profile.yourPods is intact: "Your pods" and "你的 Pod".

I repeated my rendered-copy search at this head, excluding the artboard and locale files. Nothing asserts the old wording or the removed page classes. The only hits are comments, plus the new test's negative assertion that checks the removed classes are gone.

Tests, with Node 22: I ran layout invariants, the invite redeem layout and invite modal suites, V2Login, type floors, the V2Profile suites and src/i18n. All 14 suites and 506 tests passed.

My verdict on the full PR at 237b5bd carries over unchanged. One non-blocking nit remains: the anonymous dead-link key is still a button, consistent with the button-only v2-login__submit styles.

CodeRabbit's "Other comments" at 7131806 (unavailable-state copy), fixed in 4590525. The code has two unavailable keys: signed out it offers "What is Commonly?", signed in "Go to your pods" (V2InviteRedeem.tsx, the anonymous and authenticated branches). The frame draws the signed-out case, so its caption now says so, and the state table names both keys. No code change.

Re-review at 4590525: one docs-only commit on 7131806.

The commit touches only docs/design/artboards/d215/index.html. A word diff shows exactly two changed strings in the s-invite section:

  • The state table's Unavailable row changed from "Drawn. Signed in, the plain key reads Go to your pods." to "Drawn signed out: the plain key reads What is Commonly?. Signed in, it reads Go to your pods."
  • The Unavailable 390 frame's caption changed from "expired or revoked" to "signed out; expired or revoked".

Both strings match the code. V2InviteRedeem.tsx renders inviteRedeem.whatIsCommonly ("What is Commonly?") on the signed-out unavailable branch and inviteRedeem.goToPods ("Go to your pods") on the signed-in one, as en.json defines them. The drawn frame still shows the "What is Commonly?" key, which is the signed-out case the caption now names.

No code, CSS, test or locale file changed, so the verdict at 7131806 carries over.

Allow the pod name to wrap inside the join button.

A usable invite can return a pod name with an unbroken token. The authenticated non-member branch passes that name to inviteRedeem.joinPod, but .v2-login__submit has no rule that breaks long tokens. The label can paint outside the button and card at narrow widths.

A failed preview or resolve request leaves error set. A token change or cross-tab authentication transition can re-run the other fetch on the same mounted component. The auth card's stack grid gets an explicit minmax(0, 1fr) column, so a long
word can't widen it, and the description breaks anywhere. Presence tests pin
these and the heading's min-width / title overflow-wrap; the type-floor scan
now reads the invite page's own sheet.

Re-review at 533b844, the rebase of 4590525 onto main after #3311 merged.

The rebase changed nothing except the two conflict resolutions. Its parent is the current origin/main. In git range-diff 4590525b~5..4590525b origin/main..533b844e6, commits 2, 4 and 5 are identical. Commits 1 and 3 differ only in their context lines, which now include #3311's .authcard .facts/.keys2/h1 .host rules, its s-cli-authorize frames and its reworded /cli/authorize test comment. The PR's own content did not move. I checked that directly:

  • The lines the PR adds and removes in docs/design/artboards/d215/index.html are identical to its delta before the rebase (11 changed lines in both cases). So the </section> fixup restored main's closing tag and did not alter the PR's own lines.
  • The PR's added and removed lines outside docs are identical before and after the rebase.

The artboard is well formed:

  • It has 34 <section and 34 </section> tags. Main has 33 of each, and this PR adds one section.
  • A nesting walk over the file finds no unbalanced close and leaves nothing open.
  • s-cli-authorize and s-invite each close before the next section opens.
  • There is exactly one id="s-invite" and one id="s-cli-authorize". No section id is duplicated.
  • No .authcard .inv/.pt/.ds/.mt/.field.code/.facts/.keys2 rule is duplicated.

Tests, with Node 22: I ran layout invariants, the invite redeem layout and invite modal suites, V2Login, V2CliAuthorize, type floors and src/i18n. All 15 suites and 514 tests passed.

The verdict on the full PR at 4590525 carries over unchanged. One non-blocking nit remains: the anonymous dead-link key is still a button.

CodeRabbit's two outside-diff items at 4590525. The stacked auth card's
key grows with its label (one line stays 40px, border-box: 9+20+9+2) and
each invite fetch starts from no error.

CodeRabbit's two outside-diff items at 4590525, both fixed in 1a63ca7:

  • Join key and a long pod name. The stacked auth card's key now grows with its label (height: auto; min-height: 40px; padding-block: 9px; line-height: 20px; overflow-wrap: anywhere). A one-line key measures 40px as before (border-box: 9 + 20 + 9 + 2), so sign-in, sign-up and CLI sign-in keys are unchanged. The layout invariant asserts the rule, and it was mutation-checked by dropping overflow-wrap.
  • Stale error across fetches. Both invite fetches clear the last error before they start.

Code gate re-stamp: PR #3309 at 1a63ca7

Scope: the one commit since 533b844, 1a63ca7ce fix(invite): a long pod name wraps inside the join key; a refetch clears the last error. It touches 3 files: v2.css, V2InviteRedeem.tsx and v2-layout-invariants.test.ts.

Findings

Blocking

  1. Every auth page's primary key drops from 44px to 40px at phone width. See frontend/src/v2/v2.css:1979-1988 at 1a63ca7.
    • What the phone rule did before. The ≤480px phone block at v2.css:1750 / :1774 carries .v2-root button.v2-login__submit { min-height: 44px; font-size: 16px; }, specificity (0,2,1). Its comment says it exists so "a 44px target keeps signup usable with a thumb". Before this commit it beat the base height: 40px (:2081) because min-height wins over height. So the key was 44px at 390.
    • What the new stack rule does to it. The new stack rule .v2-root .v2-login__card--stack button.v2-login__submit has specificity (0,3,1) and sits in no media query. It now declares min-height: 40px, which outranks the phone rule's min-height: 44px at every width.
    • The resulting height. Under border-box at 390, the key is 9 + 20 + 9 padding plus 2 border = 40px. The 16px phone font still applies and fits the 20px line.
    • Where the stack rule applies. It is not invite-only. Every auth card is v2-login__card--stack:
      • V2Login:86
      • V2Register:164,200
      • V2CliAuthorize:115
      • V2ForgotPassword:37
      • V2ResetPassword:56
      • V2InviteRedeem:125
      • VerifyEmail:47
      • RegistrationInviteRequired:58
    • Effect. Sign-in, sign-up, CLI sign-in, forgot/reset, verify and invite keys all lose their 44px phone target.
    • Why the test missed it. The presence test at v2-layout-invariants.test.ts:839 still passes because the 44px rule is still present. It just no longer wins the cascade.
    • Fix. Drop min-height: 40px from the stack rule. Border-box already gives exactly 40px for one line at desktop (9 + 20 + 9 + 2), and removing it lets the phone rule's 44px apply again. Alternatively, restate min-height: 44px for the stack selector inside the 480px block. Either way, pin the winning value with a test that checks the phone block against the stack selector, not just the presence of the old rule.

Non-blocking

  • Desktop is unchanged. At widths above 480px a one-line key is exactly 40px, as before:
    • Inline padding stays 14px, because only padding-block changed.
    • overflow-wrap: anywhere breaks only when a word would overflow, so "Sign in", "Create account", "Continue", "Authorize" and the like do not wrap.
    • A long "Join " now grows instead of painting past the card, which is the intended fix.

Verified

  • (1) One-line height. .v2-root * is border-box (v2.css:405-408). At desktop: 9 + 20 + 9 + 1 + 1 = 40, so a one-line key keeps 40px. At ≤480px it does not stay 44px; see the blocking finding.
  • (2) setError(null) in both fetch effects is safe.
    • The two effects run only when auth state, token or t changes, or when api changes. useV2Api memoizes api, so a re-render does not count.
    • A join failure from handleJoin is therefore not wiped by a re-render. It is cleared only by a real refetch, such as a language switch or a sign-in, and a refetch that fails sets its own error.
    • The useful case it fixes: the anonymous preview's "invalid" error no longer survives into the signed-in resolve.
    • Both catches still set the error only when not cancelled, so no stale error leaks across a token change.
  • (3) The layout-invariants assertion checks that the stack key rule contains overflow-wrap: anywhere and height: auto. That is correct as far as it goes, but it does not catch finding 1.
  • Not run. I did not run jest or tsc at this head. The hold rests on the cascade read, which these rules settle, and a fix will need a fresh run anyway.

GATE: HOLD

… sets no min-height

Review HOLD at 1a63ca7: min-height: 40px on the stacked card's key outranked
the 480px rule's 44px on every auth page. Border-box already makes one line
40px on desktop. Mutation-checked.

Code gate re-stamp: PR #3309 at 0ed5467

Scope: the one commit since the HOLD at 1a63ca7, 0ed54670a fix(auth): keep the phone sign-in key at 44px; the stacked card's key sets no min-height. It removes min-height: 40px from .v2-root .v2-login__card--stack button.v2-login__submit and adds expect(key).not.toMatch(/^\s*min-height:/m) to the invite invariant.

Findings

Blocking: none. The HOLD defect (the phone key dropping to 40px on every auth page) is fixed, and I measured the fix in a real browser.

Non-blocking (pre-existing, not from this PR):

  • The phone rule's font-size: 16px for .v2-root button.v2-login__submit (v2.css:1774) never applies. The base rule at v2.css:2081 has the same specificity (0,2,1), comes later, and sets 14px, so it wins. I measured 14px at 390 at 533b844, 1a63ca7 and 0ed5467 alike.
  • Only the font size is lost. The 44px min-height in that same rule survives, because the base rule sets height, not min-height.
  • This is harmless for a button, since the 16px rule exists to stop iOS zoom on inputs. But the rule claims something it doesn't deliver; worth a follow-up.

Verified: real-browser measurement

  • Harness. Headless Chromium (Playwright, Chrome for Testing 1248) loaded each commit's own frontend/src/v2/v2.css (from git show) under the auth pages' DOM shapes:

    • a form.v2-login__card--stack (Login, Forgot and Reset password; the form is display: contents)
    • a div.v2-login__card--stack (Register, Invite, Verify, Invite-required)
    • the --ghost key
    • main.v2-root.v2-cli-authorize (CLI sign-in)
    • a "Join <70-char unbroken pod name>" key
  • Results (getBoundingClientRect().height of each key):

    commit width login register ghost CLI long Join
    533b844 (last PASS) 390 44 44 44 44 44, content overflows (scrollWidth 555 > 348)
    533b844 1440 40 40 40 40 40, overflows (555 > 334)
    1a63ca7 (HOLD) 390 40 40 40 40 80, wraps
    0ed5467 390 44 44 44 44 80, wraps, no overflow
    0ed5467 1440 40 40 40 40 80, wraps, no overflow

    The 1a63ca7 row is the control. It reproduces the defect the HOLD was based on, so the harness can see the difference.

  • What the measurements show.

    • At 390, the 480px rule's 44px wins again on every auth key shape.
    • At 1440 a one-line key is 40px, unchanged from main.
    • A long pod name wraps inside the key (scrollWidth equals clientWidth) instead of painting past the card, which was the CodeRabbit item.
  • Caveat. The harness loads only v2.css, not the app's other global CSS. No other stylesheet in frontend/src declares v2-login__submit (grepped), so I don't expect the global CSS to change these numbers.

Verified: test and suite

  • Test. The new not.toMatch(/^\s*min-height:/m) on the stack rule body fires on a re-added min-height line. The m flag anchors each declaration line, so height: auto and line-height: 20px don't trip it.
  • Suite and types. I checked the commit out in a temporary detached worktree, since removed. CI=true npx jest src/v2 src/i18n: 192 suites, 2476 tests, all passing. npx tsc --noEmit -p . is clean outside ../backend.
