very nice plugin and very good use of display entities 馃憣
as you said you plan adding an API example...
I think for many devs to use it you should make it usable more like a lib than integration into another plugin.
For example if sb declares this as optional dependency id suggest the guy configuring his server when this plugin is on should rather be asked to opt-in for all default apps as id imagine to want it as a 3rd party app dev.
Id suggest to add a toggle select all apps button and having everything opted out from the start if (if during setup theres another plugin that depends on this plugin).
