i did find it helpful to extend it in stages, rather than doing a full body extension in one go.

The recently released Flux Fill is much better at outpainting however. And a simple comfyui workflow.

I tried to run flux_fill on ComfyUI and I don't think it works well, I prefer the way you did the project.
First of all, there is a fatal problem with phased extensions: you can't completely determine what's in the diagram. Wearing shorts or a skirt, for example, doesn't exist yet in the first extension, but it affects subsequent extensions.
Second, the image generated by flux_fill doesn't feel very good, maybe it's a ComfyUI workflow issue, it feels hard to control, not as simple as what you did and it comes out better.
As for the deformation issue, I wonder if it's possible to add a fix to allow for localized re-expansion of the drawing?
The way to do this is to allow individual adjustment of the top, bottom, left and right values of the mask so that local redrawing can be done. I wonder if this method is feasible?

i tested again, been a while since i last used it. Yes, it's not easy to expand a human as it doesn't understand the exact proportions of the body.

I'd just add a small expansion and use the prompt to describe what you're trying to get: "wearing denim shorts, bare legs"

and then run 6 results and return the best to the input and do the next expansion. Using the height slider and masking options to exactly choose the direction and amount of expansion.

but I think it's better at expanding scenes rather than people unfortunately :(

It really is a better approach.
If you can also consider having the values of the four sides of the mask set separately and individually, it should also be a way to implement the multiple redraw feature.

i don't think i'll be revisiting this app any soon unfortunately. too many new and exciting things releasing every week to explore.
i do have an interest in this style of inpaint/outpaint as a standalone app though, using Flux fill via Gradio UI. So i will probably circle back at some stage.
