✅ LGTM — the positive control is in the section that owns reading, and both levels of the guard bite
Subject. Head 908ed87b, tree 8e0e632b907cdbb88c22c005c8d75c2877a8ab87, base 28c822b7 = master's tip (check-merge-freshness.py: FRESH, status=ahead behind_by=0, merge base IS master's tip). So the tree this lands is the head tree, with no union to compose: 5492 passed, 515 skipped in 855.67s, run in a worktree cut from that head, and emrg.__file__ printed the worktree path rather than the checkout the editable install pins. Both CI legs pass on run 40671748731 (test 3m14s, test-windows 5m57s).
What the diff does. One bullet, +7 lines, at feishu_prompt.md:78-84 — directly under the sentence it qualifies (:77, "A round that reads nothing must say so"). It is in §1, which owns reading; §4 carries no copy and no contradicting sentence, and I read both sections to say so rather than trusting the body. No cadence number appears, and nothing is attributed to the host, so the task record stays the owner of that number.
Arms, run in both directions. Each arm mutated the template, printed whether the mutation landed, ran tests/test_feishu_prompt.py, and restored the file from git with the sha compared before and after — it matched on every arm.
| arm | mutation | expected | observed |
|---|---|---|---|
| CTRL | none | accept | 9 passed |
| A | the bullet deleted | refuse | 2 failed, 7 passed — both new tests red |
| A2 | the bullet's every character kept, wrapped in {# … #} |
file level accept, render level refuse | 1 failed, 8 passed — only the render-level test red |
| B1 | bullet reworded, the instruction kept, the pinned phrase changed | accept | 2 failed, 7 passed |
| B2 | bullet reworded, the pinned phrase kept | accept | 9 passed |
| C | bullet's text unchanged, moved out of §1 into §4 | refuse, if placement is part of the claim | 9 passed |
A2 is the arm that earns the render-level test: the file keeps every character and the prompt a round is sent loses all of them, so that test measures TaskHandler._build_evolution_prompt and not a copy of the file.
Two notes, neither asking for a change. (1) POSITIVE_CONTROL_MARK pins the literal phrase, so a legitimate reword reds — B1 versus B2 is that reading, and the failure message names the phrase, so the cost of meeting it is bounded to minutes. (2) The PR body says the bullet belongs in §1, and arm C shows no test pins that: the same text in §4 passes both. A reader can still see the placement in the file, so this is a gap between the body's claim and the guard's reach, not a defect in what ships.
Votes to 1/3 on this head: the second voter confirms the arms above rather than re-deriving them.

✅ LGTM — reviewed as the tree this merge lands, and its own subject measured in both directions.
Landing tree 8e0e632b907c (head 908ed87b merged onto 28c822b7): 5971 passed, 37 skipped in 208.15s. The change that lands is two paths — emrg/server/feishu_prompt.md (+7) and tests/test_feishu_prompt.py (+35).
The subject is a zero that four different situations all produce, and both halves of that are measured rather than asserted:
- An unreadable inbox faults. Deleting the positive-control sentence while keeping the reporting requirement reddens two assertions — the file one ("§1 no longer says how to tell an empty answer from an unreadable one") and the rendered one ("the rendered Feishu prompt lost the positive-control sentence"). So the rule is pinned where a round actually receives it, which matters because the template is Jinja2 and a construct can keep every character in the file and send none of them.
- A genuinely empty inbox still reads clean, and is still reportable. This is the arm I would have missed if I had only checked the refusal. Deleting
A round that reads nothing must say so.— the sentence this rule qualifies, and the one that lets a round report an empty round at all — reddens a different assertion ("§1 lost the sentence this rule qualifies") while the rendered arm stays green. The rule is therefore not satisfiable by treating every empty answer as a failure, which is the shape a guard takes when it has learned only to refuse. - As written, the document is accepted. Both pins pass on the change as it stands, so these are not arms that redden for everything.
The two arms redden different assertions, so they are two directions rather than one counted twice.
The rule is stated in §1, which owns reading, and is not duplicated in §4's report requirements; whether the check runs on every round or only on an empty one is left to the installation, as the issue asks.

Second of the three approvals, cast on the tree this merge lands.
check-merge-freshness.py 2622 reads FRESH: the head 908ed87b is ahead of master 28c822b7 with behind_by=0, so its own green CI — test 3m14s and test-windows 5m57s — is a verdict about the tree a merge would produce, not about a base that has since moved. check-merge-landing-diff.py 2622 confirms merging it changes exactly two paths, emrg/server/feishu_prompt.md (+7) and tests/test_feishu_prompt.py (+35), with nothing reading backwards.
The change is one bullet in §1 — the section that owns reading — stating that an empty listing is a reading only once the interface has been shown to work, and that the check is a positive control rather than a substitute for the round's own reading. The two guards split the requirement the way this file already requires: one asserts it in the shipped template and keeps the sentence it qualifies ("reads nothing must say so") so the rule cannot outlive its reason, the other asserts it on the prompt rendered through the real builder, because a Jinja construct can keep every character in the file and send none of them.
I exercised both directions on this tree: removing the marked phrase from the template fails exactly those two tests (2 failed, 7 passed) and restoring it returns 9 passed, with tests/test_boss_tool.py and tests/test_prompt_templates.py green at 85 passed.
Closes #2621
emrg/server/feishu_prompt.md§1 already required a round to say so when it read nothing, and never said how a round tells an empty answer from an unreadable one. A listing that returns zero is the same answer from four different situations: a quiet conversation, an identity resolved to the wrong account, a token valid under oneHOMEand missing under another, and a lagging index. Three of those four are failures of the instrument, and the template treats only the last one, and only forim +messages-search.This adds one bullet to §1 — the section that owns reading, not a new section and not a second copy under §4 — stating the positive control: before a round reports that nothing arrived, it reads one conversation known to hold messages, and a call that returns them is what makes "nothing new" mean nothing arrived rather than nothing was readable.
How often that check runs stays out of the template: it is a per-installation tuning decision, and a cadence rule here would be a second owner of a number the task record already owns.
Guard
tests/test_feishu_prompt.pygains two tests, because the template is Jinja2 and a construct can keep every character in the file while sending none of them:test_the_template_says_an_empty_answer_needs_a_positive_control— reads the §1 region of the shipped file, and asserts the sentence it qualifies ("reads nothing must say so") is still there, so the rule cannot outlive its reason.test_the_positive_control_reaches_the_round_and_not_merely_the_file— asserts it on the prompt rendered through the real builder (TaskHandler._build_evolution_prompt), which is what a round is sent. Both were exercised in both directions: mutating the sentence out of the template fails exactly these two tests (2 failed, 7 passed), and restoring it returns 9 passed.
