Box — Kimi Code Plugin

Use Box from Kimi Code: cloud sandboxes and VMs for coding agents. A Box is a real root Ubuntu VM (4 vCPU / 8 GB RAM / 75 GB NVMe, dedicated IPv4, EU) with Docker, Chrome, and every major toolchain preinstalled — created in seconds, billed per second, resumable from snapshots.

The plugin gives Kimi Code the knowledge to drive Box for you: create boxes, run code and builds in them, execute untrusted scripts safely, expose services on public HTTPS URLs, automate a real browser/desktop, run background workers, fork fleets of parallel agents, and integrate Box into your product through the CLI, HTTP API, or Python/TypeScript SDKs.

Install

From the Kimi Code TUI:

/plugins install https://github.com/ariana-dot-dev/kimi-box-plugin

or open /plugins, go to the Custom tab, and paste the repo URL. Run /reload afterwards.

Once listed in the Kimi marketplace, it will also appear under /plugins → Third-party.

One-time setup

The skills drive Box through the box CLI, which needs to be installed and authenticated once per machine:

/box:setup

or manually: curl -fsSL https://box.ascii.dev/install | sh (Windows: irm https://box.ascii.dev/install.ps1 | iex), then box login "$BOX_API_KEY" --json. Create an API key in the Box dashboard; every plan starts with a free 7-day trial.

What's inside

Slash commands

Command Purpose
/box:setup Install the Box CLI and authenticate this machine

Scenario skills

These fire on the task you're describing — say "run this untrusted script" or "host this on a URL" and Kimi Code picks the right one:

cloud-sandbox · code-execution · run-untrusted-code · docker-sandbox · ephemeral-ci-environment · agent-sandbox · parallel-agents · background-worker · cloud-vm · linux-server-ssh · expose-localhost-tunnel · public-url-hosting · computer-use-browser-desktop

Example prompts

  • "Run this generated script somewhere safe and show me the output."
  • "Spin up a VM, clone my repo, run the test suite, and delete the VM."
  • "Host the app in this box on a public URL I can share."
  • "Open a desktop in the cloud, log in to my web app, and record a demo video."
  • "Write a Python service that creates a Box per user of my product."
