Use Node.js 26.13.0 for development and ordinary CI while preserving published Node.js 24 engine requirements, generated application defaults, and Node.js 24 type definitions. Build integrations and native Function/runtime checks run on both reviewed releases.
Fixed JWT, WebSocket, and Next require-hook records now bind the exact producer and runtime Node version. Trusted Node 26 initialization supplies the SlowBuffer constructor still read by Next 16.4.3's original JWT dependency, using allocUnsafeSlow and the Node 24 prototype chains. Existing or subsequently changed compatibility exports are rejected; original source hashes and loader/realm checks remain mandatory. The independent Pages compiler corpus retains its immutable Node 24 inputs.
Install Corepack explicitly and pass --experimental-transform-types only on supported runtimes. For the real-Next native CI fixtures, verify the original upstream blobs and adapt the copied C++ addon's removed Context::GetIsolate call on Node 26 only. Log both source identities and the exact compatibility substitution. Node 24 inputs and application sources are untouched by this CI-only adaptation.
Validation: all four GitHub Actions workflows pass at 47c1d68, including all 41 ordinary CI jobs, Native Node runtime on Node 24/26 (Linux/Windows transport and relocated deployments), Node Container runtime on Node 24/26, and real-Next Native addon Functions on Node 24/26. Targeted realm/record, real JWT initialization/version-mismatch, native-cache rejection, and scoped lint checks also passed. There is no added request-time I/O, response buffering, or routing change; no hosted tests or benchmarks were run.
Summary by CodeRabbit

Walkthrough
The repository now declares Node.js 26.13.0 for development and ordinary CI. Runtime guards support Node.js 24.22.1 and 26.13.0, with Node 26 compatibility handling and CI coverage. Contributor instructions now describe the updated runtime and Corepack setup.

Summary
Supported-version contract and proof records package.json, packages/core/src/util/*, packages/adapter/src/node-*-proof.ts, packages/adapter/src/node-guard-version.ts
The core utility defines guarded versions 24.22.1 and 26.13.0. Adapter proof records use the running guarded version, and the root package declares 26.13.0.
Runtime version validation and compatibility packages/runtime/src/node-jwt-guard.ts, packages/runtime/src/node-jwt-realm.ts, packages/runtime/src/node-next-hook-*, packages/runtime/test/node-jwt-realm.test.ts, packages/runtime/test/node-next-hook-*.test.ts, packages/adapter/test/node-ws-guard-integration.test.ts, docs/node26.md
Runtime guards and realm checks accept both guarded versions and compare captured versions with the current process. Next hook records and initialization validate the Node version. Tests and documentation cover the updated checks.
Builtin initialization adds a Node 26-only SlowBuffer compatibility constructor. JWT integration tests cover the initialization and guarded loading behavior.
CI runtime matrices and runtime options .github/workflows/*, tools/deploy-tests/*, packages/core/src/util/bytes.ts, packages/core/test/bytes.test.ts
Workflows use the package Node version or test both supported versions. Deploy-test scripts add the type-transformation option only when the runtime supports it. The bytes test checks the runtime-specific error type.

Explanation
The title "Move development and CI to Node.js 26 LTS" matches the main change. The PR moves development and ordinary CI to Node.js 26.13.0, as the objectives state. The summaries show the root devEngines version, CI workflow matrices, and docs all changed to Node 26.13.0. Published Node 24 engine requirements and Node 24 types stay in place, which the title does not mention but does not contradict.
